  1. I am sure some of you have heard of the "Pokemon lavender town theory" in which a certain town in a video game (Original Pokemon) played music that gave people headaches and made them have trouble sleeping (Including me, even before the theory surfaced). In sound file analysis reportedly images spelling things such as "Leave now" were found, is this possible? Also frequencies were around 44kHz on average, I knew anything on the infrasonic level could cause these such things, anybody know if this is truly possible? Here is an image (From somebody on PMC): http://fc02.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2013/209/a/1/something_by_cosmicluigi101-d6fjs0n.png

Hi, excuse me if this is not the appropriate place for this question, I'm making a film, and I'm wondering is there a way to remove the vapor that occurs when actors exhale on a cold day? I've heard of people putting ice cubes in their mouths, but that's not really a fortunate solution for us since they will be doing it for ten days in a row. Thanks a lot!

  3. This would speed up the learning process of any robot. We humans don't plan anything when we need something, we are not taught how to need, we learn things by instinct, like any other animals. Since we are babies, we don't plan to learn how to do things, we need food, and we suddenly learn how to eat, we learn to distinguish new objects, grasp food, grasp things that we need. We need our parents and we learn to get close to them by crawling or by walking, etc. We would never teach a human or an animal how to need things, it's just genetic. So, is it possible to create a software or teach a robot to need things?

  4. I'm a freshman in High-school, and I feel I need to increase my I.Q. and thought process towards critical thinking. I obtained a 92.43% last quarter, but I feel I can achieve better. I'm currently trying to expand my vocabulary, but I need help in memorization and overall thinking. There are many websites with games and/or strategies, but I feel I should ask for help on this forum first, as answers are sincere and un-biased. Any help is appreciated, as I want to study and major in physics in the future, and I suppose preparation will be vital.

Post all of your good science fair project ideas here. Try making copper sulfate. Dissolve epsom salt in water. connect two 9-volt batteries up in a series circuit. connect those batteries(using wires) to 2 copper leads that hang down into the epsom salt solution After a few days (and many batteries) you will have copper sulfate slowly (very slowly to prevent it from running over you container) pour the copper sulfate through a coffee filter the filtered version is the finished product

  6. Now im sure some of you have seen these magnetic electrical generators claiming to produce electrical energy non stop, and i know that these machines generally do not exist PERPETUALLY... Here is my question If I were to test magnetism in a vacuum on the earth, would the magnetic properties be affected? ive looked online and cant seem to find any practical data or an experiment which has been produced

  7. Any ideas comments or input? (please check out the attachment) its an ariel system combined with a tesla coil, and although it will need a be fed a current to get going, after its already started it should be able to sustain itself since all the electricity going through the primary coil is recycled. One thing I've just seen is that I guess I could put the load coming off the capacitor on the left of the ariel (right near the top).

Hi everyone , Are there any way to reconize a polarized magnet ? I ask this question because I try to make a little experiment. Make a current with a coil, potentiometer and magnet. Anyway, the schematic is joined with this topic. So, your replies are welcome. ( Sorry if my english is bad).

Hey all! First post here! The basic story is, I've just recently come into this newfound love of science. There's a lot of backstory for it, but I won't bother with that. My issue is with just now coming into science (I'm 22), I'm having a really hard time visualizing/understanding the subatomic world, and I was wondering if you all could help me. The main issue is that I don't really understand how we can perform experiments and operations on particles such as the electron or the protons, quarks, etc. if they're so small that we can't even see them. Let me give an example: electricity. The most basic way I've heard it described is the movement of electrons. How e…

Vegetation would normally hold moisture, which evaporates into the atmosphere due to the warm climate. All rain in the amazon forest for example doesn't come from the ocean, but from the forest itself, its moisture is continuosly recycled. If the vegetation is removed, there is less moisture available for evaporation. Rainfall decreases and dry soil can easily be blown away. So, I understand that everything it's useless if the soil is not holding any moisture. So, can rubbish, only initially widely scattered in a desert, hold the moisture?

Fish excrete salt through cells in their gills. Can we make large quantities of these from stem cells, and use them to desalinate salt water?

I understand this question was asked before and it seems stupid but I'm wondering if done another way if it would at all be possible because i don't quite understand the physics of electricity. I understand that a single electric eel can generate something like 500 volts at 1 ampere and farming said animals in anyway to generate would just not be practical. However say a project were started to genetically modify the species to slightly increase the efficiency of the electrocytes slightly and then you did away with the animal itself and essentially just farmed the electricity generating cells in a bio-reactor where they were simply kept in constant contact with the nutrie…

I followed this circuit diagram for making my ignition Circuit and connected it to an ignition coil of a car but it does not produce any spark at the spark plug?? Where do I get it wrong??? Also I didnt had 3 in qty 22000 ohm resistors that is why i used 27000 ohm resistors in place of the two resistors connected at pin 2 of NE555 IC! the other 22000 ohm resistor is correct! Also I am using a 12V 80 Amps Car battery for powering this circuit! Plz help me on this!!!!

  17. Some most likely say it is imagined and not real. it has gone on for some 50 years or so but seems to come rather randomly which makes it unpredictable. The Hum is a low freqency sound that is most easy to hear inside a quite room and it seems that you have to be past middle age to hear it. Could that indicate it is somethin in our body? Anyway those afflicted are very disturbed by it. Here is a typical Daily Mail retelling of it. It is late here now 10.20PM so I did not feel for finding the most scientific retelling of the story. The conspirators love to suggest wild sources for it. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-2380368/Can-hear-The-Hum-H…

  18. Hey guys I was wondering many things about research paper writing, (This may be horribly worded as I am on the go) but, could I say write a research paper on Hydrogen as a fuel and demonstrate and explain how the 'fuel of the future' would be able to be used in fusion and engines, and explain the pros and cons, and reactions? Or would the research paper need to be on something nobody knew much about, I mean not many who are not physicists could understand but, I feel you may get the point. Thanks guys any help would be much appreciated!

Plz recommend easier ways for the same considering the fact that the equipment around here is not of very high standards!! And also how do I coat the same with ceramic slurry if i get my hands on it!!!! Help me on it!!!

  23. Started by Orion Stellμs,

So I've been putting together plans to build a liquid rocket engine, most likely for a future rocket and would like to put forth a design just so I don't blow my time, money, and energy into something that won't work or will kill me. What I plan to do is have to tanks of fuel, one to hold the oxidizer which will probably be pure oxygen or nitrous oxide, and another to hold the fuel itself, which I've settled with isopropyl or ethyl alcohol. From there I will pressurize the alcohol, and pipe both oxidizer and alcohol through small tubes into the combustion chamber where I predict they will ignite, and fire out of nozzle. So I have a series of questions to make sure…
