Does anybody know what the best loss function is for a highly imbalanced image dataset? I know that Focal Loss and Weighted Cross-Entropy are common solutions, but I can't find clear guidelines on when to choose one over the other. Any help here would be appreciated!

I have 2 issues on my pc since it came back from the shop a year ish ago. They put windows 11 on it for me but the dvdrw has not read or been able to read any type of cd/dvd I put in it. When I put the disc in & close the dvd tray it knows something is there, the 'thinking' or 'processing' cog shows for 2 seconds then stops. I have tried getting the latest driver/s both through the inbuilt windows system & from HP themselves to no avail. Windows 11 lies, it is not working properly The other issue is the audio going via hdmi from my tower to the tv. It simply won't. If I try to watch a something from my pc on the tv, the only sound I get is the tinny crappy…

Problem"explain entropy as a" is copied as "e x p l a i n e n t r o p y a s a". sometimes it "seems" like homoglyph-like character. example - letter "a" and the Cyrillic letter "а" there are random line breaks everywhere. Scientific symbols are not copied or copied as . specially super/sub-scripts. Sigma Symbol is not copied at all. Sometimes selecting is hard selecting formula selects everything or otherthings Superscript +/- are not copied. Arrow is not copied always, seems like sometype of DRM the book it using 2 different looking arrows. There is sometimes what seems to be hand written Symbols I copied "minus in a circle in superscript" to https://www.soscisurvey.de/…

Hi. Installed? Whatsapp to new drive with Ubuntu 24.04 on my laptop and it is functional. Find no launch icon, have not closed the tab until solving. On previous hard drive it did show at the bottom of screen. Does not show listed in 'installed' applications ! I have only Brave browser working perfect, cannot find how to implement the launcher (or is it favorites?). Help in wording for the unskilled, please. I followed this to install : If it shows "Remove from favorites" is because it is already in the favorites list, right ? Well, cannot see it at the bottom.

Microsoft will kill Skype in a couple of months. I have a Skype number, which is a normal US phone number for people calling me, and I don't want to lose it. So, I need to port it to somebody else. One candidate is RingCentral. I've checked with them, and they confirmed that my number can be ported to their system. Google Voice, OTOH, accepts only cell numbers. Any recommendations before I make a move? Thank you.

My compfuser reported being low in storage. I run Ubuntu 24.04 Linux in very lean way and makes no sense to me being low of free hard drive space (SSD) Is there a command to safely delete the old, already updated versions that may still reside useless in the hard drive ? What is 'var' apparently using 58% of storage ? Its contents being mostly 'lib' as 97% of 'var' as below ? Do I need 'snap' ? How can I inspect each file in there to delete it or keep it ? What is

After a discussion with someone who uses Linux, who assured me it will do all the things I would want as well as Windows will I gave Ubuntu-studio a try. And nothing has gone right. tl:dr - Am I just unlucky or is this the usual for Linux? Do people ever use it and find it is essentially trouble free? The longer version - I did a dual boot setup with my Win10 which seemed to install okay only to discover no "choose OS" option would come up at startup and looked to me like I couldn't start Windows at all, just Linux - not an encouraging start. After going to a help site I found out I could boot to Windows so long as I held the 'shift' key down at startup - a fix …

I have a 36" x 24" photograph. What would be the optimum resolution to scan it at so that the file natively prints at 18" x 12" without sampling again? I presume a photo printing shop's printer prints at 300dpi.

I was trying to find out my IP address, as a question to put to scammers calling me to tell me there is something wrong with my computer (heh heh, that should fox them). However I am now confused. I read there is a public, or external IP address, which seems to identify the WiFi router for the house and then individual, internal IP addresses for the various devices (laptop, tablet, phone) that communicate with the router. So far so good. I've found the internal address on my laptop, but when I look up the external one using whatismyipaddress.com , I get different answers for the laptop (Mac) and the tablet (iPad). Furthermore, the answer I got today for the iPad do…

I notice on FB that some people are typing in a format like this: The in.cid.ent took place on July 19..... What is the bolded (for clarity) part about? Is it some sort of algorithm censor bypassing technique? If so, why would the seemingly innocuous word 'incident' be presented like that?

I am using Firefox to browse websites. There is a website that I visit every day but most of their hyperlinks are opened in a new pop-up windows which is very inconvenient. I once used another computer and happened to find out that their hyperlinks were opened in the new tab, rather than a new pop-up windows. I like this. I am certain that It wasn't because of the update of the website, it was only because of the setting of the user side. How can I make it?

Greetings. My Brother monochrome printer MFC-L5850DW does not recognize .odt files (from LibreOffice programs); refuses to print them. It works well with .txt ; .doc ; .jpg... and many others. Is there a way to enable/add a format to the printer ? Is that in a memory chip inside ?

Greetings. Looking at a city map, showing typical streets and intersections... They are not always aligned east-west or north-south. How to find their heading ? Is there any tricky right click-alt-ctrl ??? to draw a line along the desired path and get a reading ? Example: Is that 'Johnson street' N25E ? or what is its orientation ?

Hi. I am very new to creating system image, I have some practical and conceptual questions about this issue. 1. I am running on win10 but I find that there is no direct button of creating system image in win10, but I will then be redirected to a title "win 7". Does it still work? 2. Is system image created under windows 10 (not a third-party software) 1:1? Will there be anything missing or changed for the image? Does it also contain the files / data created or third-party software installed by me? 3. One day, for example, one year later, I restore my system from the image I created one year ago. Will the new system time be the new time or the old time? I am…

I am currently working on implementing the Quick Sort algorithm in Python, and while my code seems to work correctly, I am eager to optimize it for better performance and adhere to best practices. I would appreciate insights from the community on how to fine-tune my Quick Sort implementation to make it more efficient, especially when dealing with large datasets. Are there specific techniques, pivot selection strategies, or partitioning schemes that are recommended for faster sorting? Additionally, I would like to know how to handle edge cases and prevent potential issues like stack overflow during recursion, especially when dealing with arrays that are nearly so…
