I'm not sure if anyone else has ever expirienced or noticed this happening before. But, i've found that most of the time when i block my ears or do something similar, i can hear what i think is a rush of blood in my ears. It sort of sounds like a low rumbbling sound. Maybe i am just hearing things, but if anyone has noticed that same thing any support would be good. So i was wondering if someone knows if this sound is actually blood moving in the ear, or is it something else?

This was in our review for test Friday, and well, I don't quite understand what my teacher's answer was. Q: Why is it important to eat foods that contain water-soluble vitamins every day? He said: Excess vitamins get out of body by urine, and you need to refill them (?). Is that right? How? I thought that you needed to have "water-soluble" ONLY because large percent of body is water (didn't really understand why you need to consider "excess" part; I thought "excess" occurred if you took more vitamins than required in tablet ).

Let's say we found some unknown animal out in the wild. We are curious as to what kind of animal it is, so we take a sample of it's DNA and run it against various other creatues of similarity. For instance, The Tree is trying to figure out a certain type of frog. Would it be possible to take a DNA sample and test it against other frog species to figure out what kind of frog it is?

Any help will be most appreciated.

Hi I’m a student at an art institute in England, I know very little about biology, although I have attempted to research growing mold. I want to end up with an A3 sheet of paper (with printed text) partially covered (about 20%) in mold and presented inside a normal perspex/acrylic glass picture frame. I want to grow the majority of the mold within a week, and the mold needs to last (dead or alive) for at least 2 months inside a picture frame. At the moment I’ve got 2 ideas of how to do this: Either, storing various moist foods (bread, cheese ect…) in a plastic sealed bag with a damp paper towel, in a warm dark boiler room. Then reproducing whichever bag creates t…

Iam a advisor of career for students. I usually advice the students to take up the related fields of biology. Students now a days are interested in computer fields. No one is willing to take up the fields of biology as a challenge. Their is a seperate place for the biological field in future generation. Students can take up the fields such as microbiology, biotechnology, gene therapy, nanotechnology, genetic engineering, forensic science, network science, bio-informatics, vertinary science, etc. THOSE WHO WANT INFORMATION ABOUT THE ABOVE FIELDS CAN REPLY ME. THANKS IN ADVANCE

Dear friends, Does anyone know how to label immunoprecipitates with biotins? I remember in a paper, authors used this method to find which proteins could bind to a bait by IP (of course, you only can know the molecular weight of the proteins but sometimes it is a good enough clue). Thank you. zky

hi...there was this experiment in my bio text on osmosis about how when you leave raisins in water for some time they swell up and even burst, adn when you place grapes in a strong sugar solution, they shrink....well, i tried these out at home: the raisins surely blew up...but the grapes did not change at all even after a week in sugar solution!! any possible explanations about this happening? or are my chosen grapes just plain stupid...?

Hi guys. I'm an A Level Biology student in the UK, and I've just done an experiment to find the effect of pH on catalase. I used powdered catalase and expected the optimum pH to be 7, which I could have explained... But it came out quite clearly as 10, and I have no idea why, as it contradicts the research I have done on catalase. Can anyone explain this to me? Because I have to write it up and right now i'm completely stumped. Cheers.

It was recently revealed that there is case that one egg being fertilized by two sperm simutaneously, with the resulting zygote alive! So in this case, the resulting zygote would be triploid, differing from the normal diploid zygote, in which case that normally the triploid zygote would be dead. It is claimed that after the egg is fertilized by two sperms, it divides to two balls of cell, forming two zygotes, let the two sperms as a and b, one of the zygotes possesses the gene set from its mother and that of a; while another zygote possesses, again the gene set from its mother, and that from b. So now I wonder how this could be done, the zygote formed is triploid, and the…

Hello Here is something I'm very curious about : From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong , gene therapy allows the introduction of a corrected gene into the DNA contained in a few cells, which then, will replicate in order to propagate the corrected gene, right? So, my questions are : 1. what would happen if, at the age of 50, you introduce in your cells the DNA of your 30s? 2. how would you do if you wanted to safely conserve the DNA of your young days during decades? Would a simple hair be enough? 3. since ageing is probably due to deprecating DNA after a certain number of copies, and since we're bound to witness great advances in …
