  1. I think Economics is a science. That being said, my question is do you think that if The U.S or NATO industrialized Africa as a partner in trade. One that can produce, sell, and buy goods. Would that stimulate a sufficient amount of economic growth in the global economy to be a significantly large change?

I've read that the technology exists to power a car with hydrogen fuel cells. I've even heard that successful prototypes have been created. Scientists claim that the problem with selling these vehicles to the public would be a lack of hydrogen, but I'm not sure how this could be a problem. Can't you just take water, and extract the hydrogen by using an electric current? Why are we unable to power our cars with water? Is the technology just not ready yet, or is it physically impossible? Or, does it simply have to do with political reasons? I'm sure the government would lose a lot of tax money if everybody stopped purchasing oil.

Its 2014, shouldn't we be having flying cars by now? I am 20 and I grew up on a whole lot of science fiction. I was hoping that by now we would be having a lot more science fiction technologies around by now. I read a lot of old magazines and articles from the 1950s and they thought that by now there would be flying cars, robots, moon cities, underwater cities, jetpacks, hover boards, virtual reality, holograms, space exploration, food pills, and many other technologies. And all we got were video games, HDTVs, smartphones and laptops, The Internet, Computers. Why did the real world turn out to be less amazing than what science fiction futurist were speculating?

Has anyone ever come across any studies as to the impact the 6-sided die's introduction had on preexisting games and/or cultures? Became curious after looking into Senet with its uneven probability distribution(throwing sticks).

Ok, this is a question that has been bugging me for quite some time. We all know there really is NO sound in space, because obviously there is no air in space and such. But we do know of radio waves that can be converted into sound, right? And because of this, there has been some peculiar and somewhat creepy sounds produced by NASA. They do this by interpreting the best that they can the waves into sound. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gO9hx0x68lk - this video explains some things and also shows examples of freaky sounds in space. But here's the question that the video failed to ask. If radiowaves can be converted into sound - does this mean there really is sou…

Hey! This is kind of off topic but I need some help from an established blog. Is it very difficult to set up your own blog? I'm not very techincal but I can figure things out pretty quick. I'm thinking about creating my own but I'm not sure where to start. Do you have any points or suggestions? Thank you.

  9. This issue can arise when engaging in many different kinds of intellectual activity such as solving mathematical problems or doing puzzles. I was woeking on a crossword puzzle and I got stuck. I was working on it for about 45 minutes and could not finish it because I could not think of words that matched the clues. So I stopped working on it, went outside, took a walk, ate lunch, and then returned to work on it. NOW after this break the words that I could not think of that matched the clues come to me and I finished the puzzle. I believe that the same phenomenon can occur when one is doing math problems. So what is going on here? What cured the "brain fatigue" that preve…

  10. Most science fiction artwork I've come across seems to revolve around one idea when it comes to how cities will look in the near future: Tall buildings, with round parts and funky designs, an exterior layer consisting mostly of glass, and parks / farms with trees and solar / eolian panels on the rooftops. Cars are also portrayed as having a much rounder and modern design, funky discrete headlights / taillights, larger wheels, and so on. For some reason, this stereotypical and realistic view of the recent future is appealing. So appealing, that I'm starting to wonder if and when we are going to see such cities for real. Which is my question for this thread; When will w…

Mankind has come a long way in understanding the universe around it. Do you think there are things out there that we will never grasp - not because we will never discover it - but because it is far beyond our mental capacity to understand? Think of a little mouse. The mouse can easily figure out that it will get food by pressing the little lever within its cage. However, the same mouse will never be able to figure out how to build a nuclear reactor. Also, trying to explain to the mouse - in every feasible way - what a nuclear reactor does will be completely pointless. The mouse will know nothing more about the reactor regardless of how many days you spent trying t…

A cople of days ago i was in my sciense class and my teacher put his phone inivertaintly nexed to a specker that was connected to his computer. It started to make static noies he could not figer out why. I went up to the specker and put my phone nexed to it and it did notheing.I called someone and it started making noises with my phone. we tried it with a few other phones and got the same results.I was wondering why. I know that phones use microwaves but vary small amounts. I know that a specker works by a elctromagnet geting a elcterical signal from your pnone or computer or whatever and it pushes a nother magnet with the same polarity away to move a bowl shaped thing to…

I would like to know how much climate influences agricultural output - as we know, places with temperate climate (such as my country - Poland) have a growing season lasting roughly from April to October but places located in the tropics or the equator have a year-round growing season. How much does it influence the productivity of agriculture and, hence, population density?

Anyone know of a good simulator that let's you use dust and gas to create stars and solar systems. I already have universe sandbox, and while that's a pretty neat program, I'd like to be able to see things form from scratch. Also a program to simulate a planet that you can create life and all that good stuff would be awesome as well.

I was thinking and I came up with this odd vision. In this vision, it was stated, to me that the stars in the universe, including our sun, are stationary, based on experimental measurements. Example, a photograph of the celestial universe, in the last ten years, there have not been a measureable change in the positions of the stars. Probably in the last 100 years, since photograph, there hasn't been any changes of position, of the stars, and 1000 years there is no evidence (photography) and theres the time problem (no clocks). Isn't the assumed motion of the stars in the universe caused by the earth's daily and yearly rotational motions? Can someone explain to me how the…

Alright I made a quick account and I didn't know what category this would fall in. I'm 14 year old male, I do pretty good in school so I'm not a complete idiot. But first off I've been using binaural beats. I've been using them to help me lucid dream, so far I've only lucid dreamt once. When I listen to the beats I close my eyes and I'm able to get vivid imaginations and visuals. Tonight I didn't listen to any beats, therefore my mind was going blank. I didn't get any random abstract visuals and imaginations. So I decided that I'd try to force them, well I didn't exactly think that, but it was more intentional. I started thinking, just basically forcing my mind, to do wha…

It seems that fundamental physical laws like energy and mometum conservation hold for every time. Even biological phenomena (that are basing on a couple of physical processes like ion transport, etc.) are present every time. It seems that an organism is preprogrammed by its DNA and circulating hormones. (The environment can affect also the organism because the organism is an open system.) What are the reasons that laws of nature doesn't change (every process in the universe is reproducable)?

According to caveman principle, we opt for sensation if given a choice between sensation and technology. For example, if you are given a live concert ticket and the artist`s CD record, you opt for the ticket. This principle explains: 1. Why paperless/zero-paper office won`t exist Because we always seek for prooves like receipts and thus papers are always needed. 2. Why non-human civilised cities won`t exist Because we always want we ourselves to get sensation, so instead of letting cities to be resided by robots and computers, we human will stay there too. My question is: What would be the impact of Caveman Principle to our technological devel…

Is it true that dogs, or perhaps certain kinds of dogs, have such sensitive sense of smell, that they can find their way home, over many miles distance, by sniffing for the wind from their neighborhood? The theory is that every area has a peculiar mix of smells that dogs can distinguish. When the wind carries the mix of smells from their neighborhood towards them, they head into the wind as long as they can smell that and when the wind shifts, they have to go around in circles sniffing for that wind again, so they can head into that direction.
