What is the difference between the two? I heard that a monatomic ion is only one atom but how could this be called an ion if it is only atom that has not shared electrons?

  3. I have an exam coming up and have some past exam papers to guide my revision. But i don't have any answers, so i thought i would post some of the questions here with my answers and see if anyone wants to have a crack at them too and check my answers. I'm aiming for at least one a day. This question concerns a particle in a one-dimensional infinite square well, described by the potential energy function: [latex] V(x) = \begin{cases}0 & \mbox{if} \; 0\leq x \leq L \\\infty & \mbox{otherwise}\end{cases} [/latex] The normalized energy eigenfunctions for the particle in the well take the form: [latex] \psi_n(x) = \begin{cases}\sqrt{\frac{2}{L…

I know water retention curves for different soil types typically follow this trend (top figure), where generally as soil moisture decreases, water potential increases. However, I was wondering if there could be a case where water potential actually increases temporarily as soil moisture increases, as demonstrated by the shape of the equation in quadrant I of the lower figure. (I.e. can the presence of roots in soil increase water potential as soil moisture increases? Or some type of additional external force that increases as water content increases?)

Could someone explain the difference between a phrase ( doesn't contain a verb and subject?) and a clause ( contains a tensed verb and a subject?). When do phrases end and begin? I can't for the life of me figure this out. Example: the sentence contains marking for Prepositional phrase=PP, RRC= restrive relative clause, & an Appostive Hillary Clinton went through 15 years [of this stuff]-PP [before becoming, [under Obama]-PP, [the woman everyone loves]-Appositive, a woman [whom Chris Cillizza just dubbed "the new Teflon Clinton."]-RRC]-PP I don't understand why before becoming is a large prepositional phrase compared to the other markings. I took out the marki…

  14. Hi there, I was wondering if someone could give me hand with this question. I understand the basics of initial rate law and 0, 1st and 2nd order however the equations I use are giving strange answers to this particular question. For example, my answer for k was 0.0422347714, is this correct? Here is the question: Q: Consider the reaction P4 + 6H 2==> 4PH3 A rate study of this reaction was conducted at 298K. The data that were obtained are shown in the table: [P4] mol/L [H2] mol/L Initial Rate mol/L.s 0.0110 0.0075 0.000320 0.0110 0.0150 0.000640 0.0220 0.0150…

You are an IT project manager for an advertising firm. The firm wishes to create an online survey tool that will be used to survey focus group reactions to products in development. The most important consideration for the firm is being able to offer the tool as soon as possible as a new corporate service. However, you know that many of the senior managers that are business owners of this project have difficulty in understanding technical or software development issues, and are likely to change their requirements during the course of development. What development method would be most successful for this project?
