Hi all, I have a weekly webcomic that looks at the goofy things that happen in laboratories, based, in part, on my 20+ years working in a lab. It's called Lab Bratz and I've been putting it out for almost 6 months now. I've mostly posted about this on comicbook sites, then realized that the natural audience for this type of humor is here in the science community. Hi all. I thought this the most appropriate forum. My 9 yo son has a science project at school soon, theme of energy/electricity. I asked for ideas on a football forum I use, and one fella suggested the old coathanger wire bent crazily, with a ring and handle attached, all rigged up to a 9v battery (I think) as well as torch light bulb etc, the object being to get the handle with the ring from one end of the crazily bent coathanger wire to the other without contact......the lightbulb acting as a signal when contacts made. (similar to below) I recall seeing these simple things on kids shows I watched inthe 70's, but man...were going back a way, and man…

Hello, I'm in search of some accurate and important feedback regarding a question about WM. Here is a neat website ... you can click on the various satellites and see its view of earth: http://fourmilab.ch/earthview/satellite.html I am struck by how few clouds are shown. Is there some kind of filter in the cameras that remove them?

Oil is a limited element throughout the world. What if one day there is no more oil? Then we need to use something else to replace the boost for cars. Do you think electricity can do well on that? Is electricity limited or producible?

Just a thought inspired by a thread asking how scientific journals work: Although there are many amatuer scientists who frequent this site, there are also quite a number of researchers, university graduates/postgraduates and professionals who are members here (myself included). These people may have a number of scientific publications, journal articles, research interests etc that are of interest to the various areas in the forum. I was thinking that if some of these people were to post some of their research articles (links) or simply tell others about what their research involves and why it is important, it may be a way of promoting real applied science to those…

Right i know from T.V. and the web that there are shops called radio shack in america and they sell all sorts of spare electrical components and stuff like that but is there anything similar in the U.K. or more specifically Glasgow, Scotland? I haven't been able to find places that sell resistors and stuff just appliances and gizmos.

I love to order games online. Let me xplain this first: when a game is produced, the factories will make many copies of it and so are plastic cases, then they will send those newly-packed games to retailers over states. I am just curious: when you order somethings in EB site, do they directly pick the games in their store shelves to pack and send to your house; or do they just make call to those industries I mentioned to send the game I ordered to my houses? I often see some paperbag-like boxes and so on sent to the GameStop store where I was shopping at, and I assume those boxes are just similar as the ones sent to my house, so just a hypothesis. Hello guys. IM new, i joined becasue im working on an invention but need some help.. ok my question is, is there anyway to divert electricity of of a main wire, to power electrical magnets, that make a central piece of metal spin, wiht out using any more elctricity. or is there another way, via heat/light to power magnets making a central point spin. Or is there a way to use magnets to make metal spin? Thanks! ..and the metal thing im spinning is like a veritical axle, spinning a metal disc.

I don't know. Some people on the net told me that Germans are very strict, hard-working group among all Europeans. They said because Germany have strong antecedent with the natives of Israel--which is Hebrew. We all know Jewish are smart at math or whatever, they were the earliest colonist in East German. ok yesterday i went to football camp(im in 8th grade) and was goin to be a split end then they changed me to fullback since they didnt have one. the bad thing was i wasnt paying attention so can anybody tell me what the fullback does and what the numbers in the plays mean??!?!
