This is how I think I understand the universe. The universe started from a singularity that was uniform and arguably infinite in scale or density. I guess really as there was no scale or density when in this original state. The singularity to me seems to be a primeval quantum field with as above no defined character, however without any limiting factor this field was free to both expand and collapse in any way it could.
