Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Humans are the means by which MATTER LEARNS HOW TO MANIPULATE ITSELF INFINITELY. So the point is evolution creates thinking minds that then learn how to manipulate matter through technology and this technology evolves beyond our understanding, like computers that have minds of their own that greatly surpass ours, or humans that manipulate and engineer their own brains to unknown heights and configurations. The end result is matter that learns how to interact with itself to surpass all limitations. So we as humans are a small intermediate step to a much brighter future where MATTER WILL MANIPULATE ITSELF AND INTERACT WITH ITSELF INFINITELY TO UNKNWON HEIGHTS. At that …

science says that the SPIRIT REALM does not exist. this is a place where you do not have a physical body, you have a spirit body or dream body. some say the SPIRIT REALM can be accessed through the psychedelic experience when you connect to the ASTRAL PLANE and transcend TIME AND SPACE as you enter a metaphysical reality where you can talk to anyone who has at any time connected to THE ASTRAL PLANE. i was recently tripping ACID and as i was peaking i talked to the ghost of my dead sister when we both connected to the ASTRAL PLANE. she told me all about what it's like to be dead and said that i should not be afraid of death because it is not the end, it is merely a …

Hi guys, Again, me and my stories I'm writing a science fiction story, and I do want it to be based on science. Since it's science FICTION, it shouldn't be based only on available science, but also on speculations, or "what if" scenarios, so you're free to speculate or throw ideas. I need to find a way where Artificial Gravity on a vessel orbitting Mars is possible. Remember; this is a science fiction story.. if it means that for this to happen you need to go from the assumption that a new fact was found, feel free. But try to keep it as scientific as possible. It's kind of a .. "what if" excercise... Thanks ~moo

You probably wonder what this is and expected the answer to be in this post. Well, not quite. I want You to tell me what it is! It's filling the universe, just like water is filling the ocean. Now, there surely are several theories about this and i want to hear 'em all. What (theoretical) types of matter are there? I'm looking for a term that describes a theoretical unknown matter, something like "x-matter". Is pseudo- or quasi-matter what i'm looking for?

SEVERIAN, two questions for you: how do you relate to the concept of quasi-monochromatic wave packet? Then, can you relate to terminology like: "Electrons are, after neutrinos, the first quantized vortex of the polarization field"? I can refer you to some very cool papers on the wave equation and fluid mechanics, vortices in fluids and in solids!

I have described current terms for the right-hand side of the Maxwell current equation which localize the quasi-monochromatic wave packet, and also describe electrons as a superconducting plasma. URL: http://laps.noaa.gov/albers/physics/na

Is it possible to go into the future change things, then go back into the past. Let's say you go into the future and kill your friend. Then you go back in time, and plan not to kill your friend does your friend die?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive-Theoretic_Model_of_the_Universe Wow. This is everything I've had in the back of my head, although explained in substantially more detail, and far more developed than what I've ever thought of. Take a look... here's the theory in one sentence:

I read a book a few years ago called the White Death which suggested that SIV\HIV may have jumped to people from a species of african green monkey which was used in the manufacture of an early polio vaccine and trialled on africans in a certain area. Early reports of HIV infection seemed to come from the population in that area. http://www.uow.edu.au/arts/sts/bmart...ocuments/AIDS/ Interested to know what others think about this angle. I was also informed via email by a friend a number of years ago that he thought the HIV virus was manufactured by the US government ? I don't take this seriously and have found no other evidence to corroborate this idea.…

In Star Trek, the transporter is perhaps the most famous of all the technologies onboard the starship Enterprise. It's also the most absurd one of all because it involves separating crew members at the atomic level, converting them into energy, and the process is reversed at the appointed destination. In the excellent book entitled, "The Physics of Star Trek", author Lawrence Krauss explains why the transporter will never work in real life: "If you want to zap 10 to the 28 power of atoms, you have quite a challenge on your hands. Say, for example, that you simply want to turn all this material into pure energy. How much energy would result? Well, Einstein's formula E …

i think i know how a person could "feel" EM fields, this is only an idea. its known that we have some magnicite in our cells. witch is a magnetic substance, so, if a person had a larger amount of magnicite in their cells, it would have a greater reaction to any EM field probably causing a pressure on the Magnetic field that the magnicite genorates, being felt as just about any sensation depending of the EM signal. it could feel like tactile pressure, coolness, or heat, or a tingle in that area. unfortuneatly this could be a potential weapon, if you made a strong enough Magnetic field, you could make a person literaly explode. i get a tingle every time lightning st…

Why believe the theory of evolution? What is it's basis? In your own words please. I prefer if you do not provide lengthy links. If you wish to quote something from another source, please reprint just a brief portion here in this thread, and interpret it for me in your own words. Like just a paragraph or two versus pages and pages. Otherwise I may not understand it. Thank you.

One of the great concerns about the development of nanotechnology is the "grey goo scenario," wherein some flaw in a self-reproducing nanobot causes it to continue reproducing without restraint (much like cancer), effectively consuming everything it touches and converting them into more self-reproducing bots. Basically, it's a doomsday scenario. The goo grows exponentially and wipes out life on Earth. What occurs to me is that such a nanobot is basically a living thing. Or at least a virus, if it's inert when it's not reproducing. What also occurs to me is that such an "organism" would be subject to the laws of natural selection. Copies clearly can be made imperfectly…

Hi everyone! I'm a rather agnostic person myself and although I wouldn't completely rule out the existence of something beyond our universe, I'm usually quite skeptical about miracle claims. But then there are some stories out there that really are quite astounding. What do you think about this issue? What do you make of miracles? For instance take this story: http://www.cbn.com/700club/features/amazing/healing_marlene_klepees110501.asp The woman in that article, Marlene Klepees, had been handicapped since her childhood. She suffered from cerebral palsy, a disease for which there exists no cure so far. Throughout the years her condition worsened until she …

If you ever read this message,go straight to the bold text beneath. "Chance rewards its patient labours" as they say is true ! I chanced a fact during research in June 2000 that has enabled me to discover the complete brain power (Mental Quantum) of the human species or race(s). And the Mental Quantum (MQ) discovery has also led me to invent an excellent mode of revealing any event of interest as whether it is of the past, present or future with a tremendous accuracy;by using binary(base 2) codes which is purely mathematical. In summary this format is far accurate to be compared with any astrological, spiritual or computer-simulation predictions. But the only and…

Let's start with a quote from the Wikipedia article! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biocosm So that's the idea... life plays some critical role in the structure of reality. I would like to think that life evolves into God and God re-creates the universe, but that's just me. Pretty wacky eh?

Everyone knows God is supposed to be "good" right? I was wondering, does is specifically state in the Bible (on, indeed anywhere) that the definition of "goodness" is morally benevolent, nice and kind, etc. Wouldn't it be more appropriate to say God is "Good" in the sense that God is expertly competent? God said "Let there be Light" and there was light and God saw it and saw that is was sufficient, indeed more than adequate for his purposes... the light was good.
