Speculations

Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

  1. Started by acehouston,

For fear of seeming ignorant or insane, I was hesitant to post this, but since the thread is called "speculations" here it is: I think there is a location in which information exists in the form of energy. I think it is in this location that everything that has ever happened and everything that will ever happen all happen at once and forever. This location is everywhere. This is time. I'm not educated in physics, nor am I good at math. I am highly interested in both and welcome any insight on whether or not this is theoretically possible.

This is a bit "tongue in cheek", but it does have some grounding as a serious question: In the past few years there has been talk about if computers became so powerful that they could simulate reality, and that this computer power would keep growing, that these computers would produce so many simulations that just looking at it statistically, we are more likely to be in a computer simulation than reality. But, computers are used more for entertainment than simulation. Think about the number of CPU cycles used on computers for entertainment (games, etc) than are used for reality simulations. As more computer time is spent in entertainment, then statistically, w…

  3. The Ezekiel Code with DNA Molecule: Fifteen Similarities Dongsheng Zhang Or see the article: http://xkxy.org A 2500-year old enigma (Bible, Ezeliel1:4 to 3:6, consecutive 1000-word paragraphs), we first call it as “Ezekiel Code”, recorded a mysterious thing in a “mirage”: the “four living creatures” were imagining an image of human in a “whirlwind”. Exegetes tried to explain what it was in that vision, but all was so difficult. We compared the Ezekiel Code with the molecular biological discoveries (DNA structure and functions) and gained the surprising results: both of “Ezekiel Code” and biological scientists described the same event, human DNA is right-handed do…

An experiment to determine the effect of crystalline structures on the electromagnetic field generated by the neural activity of Mammalian life. I would set up an experiment where I have several mice in cages, each with numerous crystals and such... for instance, cage #1 would have several Quartz crystals, of different shapes, rough, crystal-cut, polished smooth pebbles, etc. Cage #2 could have Rose Quartz, cage #3 could have Amethyst, cage #4 might have some Citrine crystals, all of different shapes and styles. Phase 1. I would study and analyse the behavioural patterns of the mice (or rats) and how they differ in each of the cages with the crystals in them, …

Disclaimer: I am not a scientist, I do not read other peoples theories. These are my own ideas based on my own reasoning and my general knowledge of the universe. If my ideas are close to anything written by any famous scientist it is purely a coincidence and I have no intention to try and steal others ideas and claim them as my own. Remember it is possible for more than one person to think the same way. My theory on understanding our universe. First of all my theory assumes that there are two fundamental rules that make our universe: Rule number 1: You cannot have something without nothing and you cannot have nothing without something, think of this as sp…

  6. Ampere's Law is Just a "Relativistic Charge Effect" **************************************************** Magnetism is not a real force and does not really exist. Magnetism is just as Einstein had stated a "relativistic effect " of common charge.Magnetism is the result of the movement of charges. If we assume that Charges increases with velocity ************************************** we can explain all static magnetic effects . Instead of using field with right-hand rules we can directly have a look at the forces that charges have on each other. A simple equation q=q0+1/2*q0*v^2/c^2 (1) with Coulomb…

You know that energy is an intangible thing. You can’t hold energy in the palm of your hand. Because energy is to do with stress, which is the same as pressure, which is the same as negative tension, and you need a volume of stress to get the units right. Because stress is force per unit area and energy is force times distance. You know that mass is a tangible thing. You can hold a thing in your hand and feel the mass of it. You even know that E=mc2, and that the intangible thing called energy can be used to make the tangible thing called mass. But you don’t know how. I’ll explain how. The answer is all down to motion. Or the lack of it. You have to think …

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I'm into art but am also a physics enthusiast. I would like to share my new philosophical view that I would initially call as "Rocket Theory". Although, being into art, I took effort into finally translating my painting into math, in which I will be sharing here. Hopefully we discuss these in languages we both could understand, as I tend to perceive ideas visually. Hopefully, new ideas are welcome in this website and hoping to have openminded exchange of ideas regarding my thread. I perceive that to define our existing Present universe (E=mc^2), there is the need to incorporate 3 more dimensional 'realities.' But these must be perceived from…

This is a just-for-fun thread. What would happen if all neurons in your brain started firing all at once and at their maximum capacity? This, of course, probably can't be answered scientifically, so feel free to speculate (and be creative). Example: You'd suddenly achieve enlightenment and have an omniscient understanding of the universe... and you'd have telekinesis.

Okay, what part of this sentence: ...is the most difficult to comprehend? I'd love to expand that into a layman-oriented description of how consciousness works, but, it's hard. I guess some potential questions would be: What's a temporospatial classifier? What's a global workspace? I don't get the hierarchy bit! Where does your comprehension of the statement break down?

It has proven extremely difficult for anyone to comprehend how anything can be certain but having a certain beginning and restricted to moving on only when the next step is certain does provide a solution that can then be used to compare with anything in mainstream science that is obtained theoretically and observationally. Science has a multi choice section regarding how the universe came about but the clean alternative that space was always constant everywhere at all times, although more valid, does not gain the same amount of research. While theory almost ignores there being space as we know it before big bang then any solution using space as a certain beginn…

  14. MY theory of everything: Such prooven theories such as general relitivety and string theory BOTH have very valid points, and are most likely quite true. However, although there is no way to proove it, My own theory is that life itself may have existed BEFORE the big bang. It is my opinion (completely unvalidated) that beofre OUR universe (as we know it) expanded, it may have existed in an entirerly differnt state, governed by an entirerly different set of rules and universal laws. It is a posibilty that life may have then existed in this state, in another form from what we know it. However the point of this article is not whether or not life existed beofre the big ban…

TIME EXPLAINED Time is very simple, once you get it. But “getting it” is very very difficult. That’s because your current of time is so deeply ingrained. You think of time as a length: Q: How long will it take to get to London? A: What do you mean long? We form a mental map of the world using our senses and our brains. But the map is not the territory. We use time to think, but we’ve grown so accustomed to thinking the way we do, that we don't think about time any more. We don't see time for what it is. But let’s start with something easier. Let’s start with colour. Follow the link below to conduct an experiment: http://www.echalk.co.uk/amusement…

My website: http://gustofhotair.blogspot.com/ sets out to prove that in Australia, number and magnitude of cyclones are not related to global warming, Australia’s current drought has nothing to do with global warming, and shortly on my webpage I will prove that Australia’s temperatures have in fact not increased at all in the last 20-150 years. This is by analyzing data as provided by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. Cheers Jonathan Lowe

Hey guys - first post and certainly not last. I recently read The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene and I was thinking about the relationship he was discussing about the 2 methods of measuring radius (high energy vs low energy) and how a radius of R would have equal meaning to a radius of 1/R. I started wondering if when the universe reaches a radius of 1.616e34 meters (the inverse of Planck length) might that be the moment a big bang for the next universe occur? (I wanted to look into it more but I was having trouble finding the numbers on the radius of the current universe. The numbers I found were of the visible universe and centered around us. Is there a …

An ultraviolet (UV) pulse beam radiating from higher dimensions in universe-2 will cross paths with the Earth on this day. Earth will remain approximately within this UV beam for 17 hours of your time. This beam resonates with the heart chakra, it is radiant flourescent in nature, blue/magenta in colour. Although it resonates in this frequency band, it is above the colour frequency spectrum of your universe-1 which you, Earth articulate in. However due to the nature of your soul and soul groups op…

I was wondering on a concept thats probably been discussed before but I can't find it the search. Is it possible to make material (on the scale of average day material) similiar to particle bombardment (Not exactly but...). If you have the control, and the technology, could you fuse and condense matter of a specific element to a specific point and allow it to grow from that point? And even more advance procedures that would allow you to make the perfect structure? And lastly could you yield enough material to even make it worth while?

Hello Just to drive the phyisists here crazy, and the fun of running a mental exercises, thought I'd try to think of a way to go beyond the speed of light. No not challenging Einstein here, nor is this the results of complex experiments carried out. Just a fun trying to force myself to think outside the box. That said how about this. Requires to unproved or tested ideas. 1) Mattered excellerated to the speed of light converts to energy at a point slightly before the speed of light. 2) The speed of light is the speed of time. Part one: required to overcome the inertia problem caused by mass. If mass is converted into energy than it can trav…

Hi to everyone, This is my first post here, previously my views have been expressed on the closed BBC forums. I am more than happy to use speculation rather than theoretical threads which just as easily complicate simple logical ideas that deal with the very foundation of all speculation. Science cannot obtain any information prior to big bang, it cannot state that there was "no before" except for the theories that are mainstream. How that relates to no one else working through the problem in other ways I have no idea. It is speculation to consider that what came before big bang does not matter and that is very convenient for theory. S…

I am writing a paper on a scientific theory. For those of you who have not kept up with the other thread related to it, it is a theory of aboluste relativity. The theory defines relativity with absolute space. This sound much stranger than it really is, however it follows the laws of physics and observable data as you will see in the paper. I have not written a paper before and I do not know exactly how to go about it. I would prefer to, in repsect of einstein and the vast use of his work, to follow his style of the paper. The paper I am going to submit to the science community at large. Hopefully a journal would take it? The theory is absolute…
