Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

This is not the Universe of Chaos. It is the Universe of the consequences, but we are not aware of all of them, and it is to every last atom and the last molecule. This is so since the time and distance were made and applied, ie, Entropy. If everything were paralyzed because there were no time and distance, entropy does not exist. And another thought: We're just an effect of the chemical in an entropic Universe. But chemistry was foreseen at the time of the big bang, and with it, it was also foreseen that we would appear and we would do what we do. Because this reason we are here and we do what we do. Perhaps this means nothing, but it is strange, weird and…

  2. These 3 things are talked about big because of their importance and ect. and but I have convincing true answers that are similar but a little different...and well simply convincing so am I right and give me feedback about them. Like give feedback and if true or false............ The universe is indeed empty space with balls in it, but it could have had a start because thinking back and back and back, what, it always was like that?....so there could have been a start/big bang thing going on maybe with multiple universe balls in a biger ball and overlaying dimensions ect. but the possiblility of it being just always like so with balls in it moving around could, be, too …

  3. A recently learnt that there is a gloun field that also is seen as the reason for mass. A gloun has spin a Higgs boson doesn't. What stands against assuming they are the same particle in and out of spin? And what is there against the idea that the missing graviton is the field that causes this spin of the Higgs boson thus becoming a gluon just before entering a string? If so I then don't see how this graviton can ever be detected, other than as a theoretical necessity.

here is my theory on the universe... I think the universe is not as big as we think. I think we are seeing the same stars, planets or whatever many times over and over AND over because of gravity. I think there is a central part and when we look into space we are seeing our sight pulled by gravity. We are basically seeing the same planet but farther away, we think. Because the sight is a lot farther. The farther a planet seems away, the older it seems. think of looking in a circle, with the stars also altering the way it goes. You see the same planet but never the same spot because of all the stuff moving. The Universe never come to an end, Gravity does not allow t…

  6. Why not have a little fun and consider an alternative to the big bang? Big bang doesn't describe a beginning, just a change in state. But before the bang? What caused the bang? No answers. Posit the universe consisting of only bosons and objects made of bosons. Sort of like today, only different, and, like today, not in a steady state. Something changed, just a bit, just enough to cause fermions to precipitate out of the bosonic environment. No need for a singularity. No need for a particular central starting point. Just a process sort of like condensation in the atmosphere, happening everywhere more or less all at once.

  7. I have posted straight into the trash can, I know my place. Gravity explained that the Earth wants to go straight/linear, away from the Sun but can not. Like the ball on a string that is attached to a central pole and hit with a racket. It will rotate the pole. NEW idea, it is not the entire Earth that wants to go forward/linear, but only the Earth's core, been equal to the Sun's polarity and been repelled. Where as the crust etc, is been attracted to the Sun, and also attracted to the Earth's core. In short - It is not the Earth trying go straight like Einstein and co thought, but the core itself.

So, here's a great question, I think. Could we throw an artificial intelligence at the sun and have it use the sun's energy to solve life's problems? I reason if it could be pre-programmed to solve complex issues and use the sun's energy to generate a wormhole, it could back here might fast, possibly converting the sun's energy into matter, thus enabling wormhole generators and the like around our solar system. Here is how I envision this: Scientists make an artificial intelligence with various tasks to complete - Test theories - Compute possibilities - Turn energy into mass - See if a wormhole can be made They then take this advanced AI with ma…

In computer science, a B-tree is a tree data structure that keeps data sorted and allows searches, sequential access, insertions, and deletions in logarithmic time. My contention is that internally human memory could be analogous to this structure, albeit with a very large number of leaf nodes. When a particular activity takes place that was done before, it is validated against past experiences based on the b-tree search, and if the experience is analogous to an already experienced set of phenomena, then the course of action is more or less in line with that taken earlier. This could explain the concept of a reflex arc. For oft repeated actions the response …

  11. Hi guys, If any one comes out with ideas in the next few weeks, relating to light and the reflection off mass, and you can see a light wave in color on your finger tips, that is because it is my theory and with proof. These pics, are with a torch, the volcano shape is actually the waves, I have seen these in an experiment with my eye, I need a sunny day to continue and try to get the picture in full color. A flash light doe's not have the same effect has daylight. I uploaded these pics to other forum after long explanations, and they instantly banned me. I fear this may be to steal my thoughts, as already I have seen current topic on you tube rela…

Superluminal communication is postulated to be false. Entangled states cannot transmit information spontaneously faster than the speed of light. Or so the argument goes. We all know that the Universe is held together by gravity. Gravity is "carried" by gravitons. The Universe does not "fall apart". The force of attraction from the most remote galaxy is almost zero at a very large distance. It tends to zero (by limit -> infinity) by does not actually become zero. It "holds" albeit very feebly, the most remote stellar system in the Universe, when distance is measured from its coordinates. That is why the Universe does not fall apart. Gravitation is always attractive …

I know two things currently, well make it three. 1. Our federal government will soon inact a military police state. This is intentional, and of course with purpose. One of the reasons for this is my reason number 2. 2. We are now well into the last stage of a complete economic failure. While safeguards are in place. It is only designed to slow it down. But currently it has only slowed it a little. This collapse has started and will continue to do so. The ramifications of this collapse will be severe. This is especial…

The entire history of revolutions in human thinking is full of examples in which complicated human-centered theories gave its place to simple explanations in which human is just a part inside a system and because of this fact, he has a subjective view. In the beginning, people thought the earth was flat, because that was what everybody observed. However, there were fundamental inconsistencies with this model, both mathematical and logical. Additionally, human couldn’t feel the motion of the earth and thus, believed their eyes and tried to explain the skies with the assumption that earth was the center of the universe. However, things were getting far too complicated, and…

Electric charge has a monopolar nature. And the direction of the magnetic moment that is induced by its rotation is dependent only on the direction of that rotation. That is what we know empirically. The other variables …

The theory of Non-Familiarity This is an excerpt from a Wikipedia article which is a very coherent step towards the formulation of an equation that would suffice for a theory of everything. Properties and impasse of self-substantiation In “The Price of an Ultimate Theory”,[2] originally published in 2000, Nicholas Rescher specifies what he sees as the principal properties of a Theory of Everything and describes an apparent impasse on the road to such a theory. Properties Principle of sufficient reason First, he takes as a presupposition the principle of sufficient reason, which in his formulation states that every fact t has an explanation t': where E predicates…

  20. I came up with the idea of making a machine that could manipulate the influence of the Higgs field to produce energy. My idea is that a factory could be created, and in one area, the Higgs field would have almost no influence, and in another area, the Higgs field would have a heavy influence. The area with low influence would be used to move water up, and then it would be moved to the area with a heavy Higgs influence. The water in the heavily influenced area would move down with gravity through turbines to produce energy. The, the water would be moved back to the area with a low amount of Higgs influence, and it would be raised again with less energy expended. I decided …

I have a theory that I'd like to share. The theory is that psychology and sociology are a part of physics. I believe that they work and can be acted upon and calculated in the same way that gravity and other classical physics can. In classical physics: a computer uses electricity to operate its electrical circuits. These networks of electrical circuits are used to build higher levels of software abstraction (such as word processing, graphical user interfaces, or rendering and exploring 3d environments.) This is used to create and execute the audio, the visuals, and the user controlled experiences that the software or a video game can provide through its hardware. …

  23. Recently, I watched a very interesting live streamed video conference (warning: 1h30min long!) about the 2nd confirmed Inner Oort cloud object (2012VP113), as well as a centaur (sort of dwarf planet) with rings. I want to discuss a detail about the Inner Oort cloud objects, and a speculation that came of that. The make a long story short: it seems that the 'Argument of perihelion' for distant objects clusters around 0 degrees. For those who don't know what that means (like me, 24 hrs ago), the argument of perihelion is the argument of periapsis for the specific case of the Sun (helion). This article in The Economist is able to explain it quite well in layman's ter…

I am wondering if the difference in the magnitudes of the Casimir force as measured in the lab, and the necessary strength of lambda, the cosmological constant, or "dark energy," could be due to the fact that it is offset by a change in guv due to the local density of matter within the galaxy, or within the Local Cluster.
