Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

So I have a late night thought if anyone is looking for a theory to blow holes through. I believe that time travel is possible in a relative way, and no i'm not talking black holes...at least not really So we are using the Big Bang's(currently unknown) origin spot as our center of the universe, which in the spirit of making things easy we'll say is a trillion light years across. Now let's say, hypothetically, that earth is 250 billion light years away from the center of the universe(half way to the "outer rim"). I predict that if we flew twords the center of the universe faster than the speed of light, we would almost definitely find extra terrestrial life, in the fo…

1915 Einstein predicted Black Holes and White Holes in GR theory. 1994 Hubble Space Telescope spots Supermassive Black Holes I think it is important that we first make a description for Black Holes and White Holes. A BH is a volume of space with a gravitational pull so strong that nothing, not even light, can escape. A WH is a volume of space expanding with such force that nothing, not even light, can enter. Einstein himself made claims against the possibilities of black holes in 1934 saying that a BH does not fit with reality. The Swarzschild Solution puts a WH at the beginning of time and a BH at the end of time, but this does not fit with observations. Whit…

I believe our interpretation of Relativity needs to be simplified. Time travel is not LITERAL it is figurative. In Steven Hawking's "Briefer History Of Time" he uses the analogy of a man bouncing a ping pong ball on a train to describe relativity. The man on the train bounces the ball, and from his point of relativity it bounces in the same spot twice. A man standing along the rails though would see the ball bounce in two different spots from his point of relativity. The realization of relativity, found by Einstein, was that both men were right! The ball had bounced in the same spot on the train, but the train was in two different spots as the time between bounces transpi…

  5. Reflection of signals within the circuitry is generally considered to be a bad thing in radio electronics and computer hardware. I suspect that there are some very interesting applications to be discovered that involve intentional reflections of an input signal. Full and partial reflections, linear, 2D, & 3D reflections both open and within a network all deserve consideration. For a simple start, let's determine the frequency of a sine wave signal by using a linear array of amplitude detectors. The signal enters at one end of the array and is reflected back through the array from the other end. At some point along the array, the reflected signal will interfere wi…

Here's an old simple experiment I did hundreds of times. After asking dozens of physicist, nobody can explain it through QM, but it is extremely simple and straightforward in terms of classical mechanics. A circular wire coil, preferably made of material with high resistivity so as to immediately quench the electrical current. A power supply produces DC current through the wire, thus forming a magnetic field that extends outside the coil. Through means of signal averaging by taking thousands of readings, one can detect a magnetic field with a hall effect device from the coil at great distances. The longer the current is held, the farther out the field stabilizes. Nex…

  7. I wanted to copy and paste this since I already took the time to type it. Unfortunately I won't have time to reply anytime soon. The following shows how classical mechanics on a macro scale proves an hf amount of electromagnetic has h/λ momentum, derived from classical mechanics. Well established antenna software confirms. Hopefully within a few months I'll take the time to document all of the other issues academic community has had in getting classical mechanics to show other effects such as Compton scatter, blackbody radiation, mass inertia, etc. The following uses electromagnetism at radio frequencies to derive the equation. Such a method is 100% evidence since we'…

  8. Please, if you have access to equipment that can detect single photons in ***non-avalanche mode***, then I would greatly appreciate it if you could do this quick experiment for me. This experiment is for some extremely important research. See the last paragraph for details. Experiment Equipment: Photomultiplier tube with appropriate circuitry operating in non-avalanche mode, common inexpensive efficient LED (or laser diode if you wish), oscilloscope. Experiment outline: Place LED as far away as you can from a sensitive photomultiplier tube. Decrease LED DC current till you can barely detect the light with the PMT. The maximum allowable LED current for this …

Ok so I have been reviewing some old basic electricity and magnetism material (Gauss’ Law, Maxwell’s Equations etc.) in preparation of the new school year and I came up with what I think is an interesting although most likely not feasible idea, and I wondered what other people thought about it. Basically the idea is to “bounce” on top of a dielectric using an electric field. Imagine we have a metallic object situated above a flat plane made out of some dielectric material. Also imagine that we have the ability to turn on and off an extremely large electric charge on this metal objects surface, at a rate many many times the relaxation time of the dielectric material be…

Supposed to predict weather well in advance, days apt for sowing/harvesting this, that, the other; fishing... On what basis ? Wikipedia does not offer much about its 'science'.

I had a fairly vivid dream in which I invented something. It was a hollow copper sphere, made out of 2 hemispheres clipped together 1 meter diameter just big enough for someone to crawl in and be locked inside. Attached to it was a 300 megahertz UHF radio transmitter, so the wavelength was the same as the diameter of the sphere. When someone was was locked inside and the transmitter turned on, being encapsulated in the quantum state of the standing radio wave photon amplified the effects of morphic fields restoring people bodies to there previous forms effectively rejuvenating and healing them, even giving them some mental control over there own genes. As the device was …

DOUBLE SLIT EXPERIMENT WITH BASEBALLS First we do the experiment for single edge diffraction Make a horizontal edge 3 feet wide with a thickness of 6 inches. Then cover the 6 inch surface with 4 sided pyramids with their square bases 6 inches wide. Use pyramids with 3 different heights. 12 inches, 9 inches and 6 inches. When we drop baseballs from 10 feet above the baseballs will land in one of 3 lines on the floor as they bounce off of the pyramids. Now round off the exposed edges of the pyramids. That causes the baseballs to land in 3 wider lines to form the diffraction pattern. The next thing to do is build a double slit replica with rounded pyra…

  15. Many people assume that they will be able to identify a non human build artifact, but very likely they will be wrong. Assuming that shuch artifacts are real, their very existence will challenge many of our current ideas, any intelligent being capable of moving between stars by any means will have a level of technology that we really can't imagine, the shock will be greater than the one received by a human Neanderthal confronted by current technology. Many people use current human technology as a "guide" to imagine how an alien technology may look like, but that is a very narrow way of seeing things and automatically introduce preconceptions in the interpretati…

  16. On the Earth (and in the Internet) you can find a Triple Helix DNA... It consists from a normal (2)Double Helix DNA where is added a partial third (1)simple Helix: 2+1=3. By my Idea: On the core of the Double Helix DNA 2 Bases X-Y make 2-3 Hydrogens Bonds with each other... On the core of the Triple Helix DNA 3 Bases X-Y-Z make 3 Hydrogens Bonds with each other!!!... On the Triple Helix the Bases are Double-Bases because each Base has 3 Hydrogens Bonds with each of the other two Bases!!! By AB, CD and EF are the 3 Hydrogen Bonds which connects the three(3) Double-Bases... The Bases X(BC), Y(DE) and X(AF) do NOT mach together in any other way, with 2 or 3 H…

  17. I have my first question, so I might as well start the thread now. I began this project long, long ago, and I might as well complete it even though my interest has waned. I stopped looking at the planets' current longitudes to avoid bias, and I began writing down every day which I thought might be a Venus "transit" or Mars "transit". Two more analogous sets of dates were acquired from a journal I had kept for a few years. I won't share the dates publicly, but I'll share the results. In this instance, different outcomes for the different data sets could shed light on my bias. I also want to share the code, so testing these claims becomes easier for everyone. With…

First timer, just to get that out there.. I've been contemplating the mysterious mechanism that triggers a nucleus to decay. Now I have no evidence as this is just an idea to be expanded upon, but the thought is that inside the nucleus of a radioactive atom there exists an as of yet undiscovered partical that carries strong and/or weak nuclear forces. As the unsuspecting atom travels through space/time flowing through the dark matter that has amassed around galixies throughout the cosmos, the as-of-yet-named partical crashes into a partical of dark matter annihilating both particals and releasing dark energy along with alphas betas and gamma radiation. Radioactive decay t…

  19. I read quite a few of the preceding posts regarding black hole but I couldn't find any clear description of a black hole. From what I know, a Black hole is the maximal déformation of the geometry of a certain volume of space-time. That déformation of the volume of space-time extends way down to its center of gravity. Which seems to mean that the deformation in question is the result of something acting on the center of gravity itself. And that means that de déformation is not, at all, caused by the presence of a ball of matter floating in space, like a bowling ball placed on a mattress. If you look, for example, at the M31 galaxy (Andromeda) where there is…

Hello, My opinion about our Universe is presented in a short article here: http://searchwarp.com/swa562857-One-Way-To-Explain-The-Universe.htm Quotation: <<< The creation and evolution of our Universe, including its accelerated expansion, can be explained through the following logical reasoning: The photons, resulted after Big Bang, each of them having a kind of "graviton" with it (in other words, the smallest gravity unit being associated with a photon), have started to join each other, when they were "close enough" to each other, so that the smallest elementary particle can be considered the one formed by joining two photons, which were "close…

Once I realized primes mirrored each side of (45) adding to 90 43/47 down to 89/1.except for the fibonacci primes 2,3,5,13,89 I was wondering if you could then use "negative primes" to predict future primes, by within this method adding 90 to negative primes(shown below) if you notice below prime -7 you add 90 you get prime 97 -7+90=97 -11+90=101 -13+90=103 -17+90=107 etc. there are a couple of gaps, prime 139 should mirror with -49 which we know is not a prime but is a prime times itself 7x7=49. I was also wondering whether there are sequences higher up in the primes where this mirroring of primes is beyond 90? by knowing the just primes up to …

  23. Hi All I've been wondering about dark matter... I understand that most of the mass of a proton or neutron is not the 3 quarks that make each one up but the plethora of virtual quarks that seem to hang about inside them. So couldn't the seething mass of virtual particles that fill the vacuum of space make up a significant proportion of the so called dark matter that appears to be missing from our universal accounting of matter? I assume someone has already thought of this and knows why it can not be the case I'd love to know phil

I wonder about Gravity; why is it apparently so weak and yet we hope there is loads of dark matter to explain how strong it is overall - and is it really so different from the other forces? if it is a force mediated by a particle like a graviton - similar to the photon mediating the EM force, can a graviton escape the gravity of a black hole in a way that photos can't - or do they only go inwards? i've heard speculation that gravity's apparent weakness might be that it seeps away into/through other hidden dimensions. As time is also a dimension - could gravity seep through time in a way that other forces don't seem to? Could the gravitational effects we describe…

  25. Hi folks, It is my contention and speculation that the aphorism: "You can catch more flies with honey than vinegar." Is completely false. I contend that vinegar is very effective at catching flies, whereas honey is useless. This is due to the observation that I found I had a leakage of a honey dispenser (One of those squirty ones that sits on it cap) that had been sitting on an open shelf unattended for some time, and it had ZERO, ZIP, NADA, insects caught in it. Whereas an aqueous preparation of malt vinegar, water and dish soap, theorised by myself to mimic the odor of rotting fruit and thus attract fruit flies, catches and kills dozens of fruit flies…
