I am pretty inept at this, but I still don't know how to put web links into my blog. I put in the URL address in my text, highlight it, and then press the blue LINK button. It does some code thing to the address, but when I do a Preview, there is no link. And how do I fill out the form that comes up? Any help is most appreciated.

I have failed several times and managed to misclick when voting on reputation at people's posts. Most times a have clicked positive instead of negative which is a happy fault of me, for the member who made the post, so I have never bothered further with it and left them as that. But the last time I misclicked was when I intended to outweight a, (IMHO unfair), negative vote zapatos had gained in his post #2 in this thread and instead I clicked on the negative vote, (sorry zapatos), which further condemned his post. This fault of mine has negative consequences for the poster and is something I feel I have to try to undo and have therefor asked a moderator, (Phi for All)…

Following difficulties in getting youtube videos to auto load (popular in The Lounge) I suggest a detailed guide would be useful. Such a guide would cover computer specifications and requirements such as necessary software, cookie enablement etc. It would cover any limitations set by the forum administrators such minimum time or minimum number of posts for a member. It would list in sequence the actions to be taken on a music website such as youtube to obtain its URL. It would then list in sequence the steps to be taken when posting on the forum. If the procedure can be upset by using any of the provided facilities such as "edit" or "Fast reply" then a warning shoul…

So, I made this post on the 18th of February: Surely you jest! This would never have been made obvious by the content of your posts. I am so glad you've clarified this for us and cleared us of our misconceptions. Faith is not good enough for you to accept the differing religious beliefs of others, so why should it be good enough for a nonbeliever to accept yours? Faith is not good enough for you to accept that there is an invisible dragon living in your garage, nor is faith good enough for you to accept that there is a tiny purple unicorn inside your refrigerator. Faith can be placed in anything and has zero bearing on either the merit, accuracy, or t…

This may or may not be the proper place to display such a topic, but on occasion we must look back at our recent history and wonder why things exist as they do. The following is only a glimpse.

I really try hard not to do this, but sometimes if no one responds I post more onto a post and it gets merged. The problem with this is sometimes with the post merged it makes it hard to make sense of the order of thoughts that are occurring. I prefer not to edit in edits after I post because it makes it look like I modified something much later and me editing my posts in the first place should probably stop, but honestly I make so many damn wording mistakes. I would like to submit to SFN the suggestion that in fact the merging of posts by the same user should be switched off. Thank you, Xittenn!

Avatar in the sense used on the internet is that little image representing yourself. Your incarnation on Web. The original meaning of the word was the incarnation of Vishnu. "The proliferation of avatar’s second meaning can be traced to Second Life, a multiplayer online virtual world, where players fashion their own online personae called avatars. The popularity of the game has shot the term into the mainstream. Philip Rosedale, the creator of Second Life, defines avatar in the gaming sense as “the representation of your chosen embodied appearance to other people in a virtual world.” Considering that Second Life avatars may assume literally any guise — wings, a dragon…

This is the only forum I use and until recently never wanted to add anyone as my friend although I have been a member for two years. I see friendship (even forum friendship) as a two way link. We are friends makes more sense than saying **** is my friend but I don't know if I am their friend. With that thought in mind, the first place I looked at to see if my request had been accepted was my own profile. But it doesn't work that way. So my suggestion is that if friendship is requested and accepted then names and pictures should automatically appear on both relevant profiles. If for some reason (perhaps not allowing changes to somebody's profile without their express p…

SFN Blog Forum has seemingly stopped updating itself! I do not read the blog from there, but I found it useful in being able to give feedback for blog entries through the ability to assign rep points. Now how will I give ajb a point for his well thought out post on general relativity, gravity, and the curvature of space??

I finally managed to get my blog setup and thought that my experience might help others who wish to do the same. Now I am not going to go into details on setting your site title and tagline. You can find those things very easily in your dashboard under settings->general. The purpose of this post is to explain how you can use CSS code to customize a Fusion 3.1 theme. First, you need to go to your dashboard and click "appearance->themes". Then, you will need to browse for the theme titled Fusion 3.1 by digitalnature. Once you have found the theme, you will want to click the "activate" link to set it as your blog theme. Now that you have Fusion 3.1 activated, …

Hi there I wanted to quote in my reply a section of mooey's posts that she had made into a quote (and of course whe I hit reply it stripped out the internal/previous quotes) http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/61063-found-the-tree-of-knowledge-of-good-and-evil/page__view__findpost__p__635805 it was this bit "Rewritten version of previous quote said: Atheists and seculars can thus be seen as immature thinkers and true sheep. While Christians who recognize the evil in the God of the O T can be seen as better thinkers and able to discern good from evil. Atheists can be seen as poor thinkers who cannot discern evil. They end up with a philosophy that e…

I don't know where this topic would go since I can't post in the forum announcement sections and there doesn't seem to be a "suggestions" section, so I just put it right below the forum announcements. Although music itself is largely unknown in "how" and "why" something sounds "beautiful" or "scary" or etc, the processes involved with making music are very scientific, and just as you cannot add just any two numbers together to equal "3", you cannot just slap any amount of notes together in any order and make something that sounds modern or sad or happy, which is why there should be a music theory section on this website. There's also another website that would wor…

I had--really stupidly--changed my display name back in May. The Change Display Name tab was allowing us to change our nicks every 180 days. On Saturday I was going to be able to change my nick, but the tab suddenly disappeared on Friday. I understand if Administration decided to change the policy on this, but now I'm stuck with my shame. I was really hoping to just go back to using Xittenn as it is the nick I go by everywhere else. If this might be corrected for me, it would be much appreciated?? I promise to stop being a git ( I blame hormones ). . . It had occurred to me that the tab might be glitched where I used it and broke it and everyone else still has the t…

We all enjoy being at SFN. Most of you might have seen extraordinary people or really intelligent people here. Let us award them this year by recognizing their contribution to their respective fields and how well they have helped beginners excel. Let's have nominations for PHYSICS CHEMISTRY BIOLOGY MEDICAL SCIENCES Since I am no administrator or moderator this thread may be terminated.
