Alright, so here is something useful. After playing with n-gram for text analysis I came up with an idea for AI. How does n-gram works? For instance, I can type: "I drink a Coca Cola in my room today." You run an n-gram for 2. "I drink" no meaning. "drink a" no meaning. "a Coca" no meaning. "Coca Cola" has meaning. And it goes up with all possible combinations in ascending order "I Coca", "I Cola", "I in" etc. Collecting all web pages and texts you'll probably sum up the frequency for Coca Cola to be 100. Meaning Coca cola has a meaning and all words associated with it. And therefore when you type I drink a Coca Cola, you would get a list in the databa…

Hi. I was just wondering about something. There's a lot of schematics out there for homebrew 8 bit computers, and these show the ROM and the RAM connected directly to the address and data buses. If the physical addresses in the ROM start from 0000, and the physical addresses in the RAM also start from 0000, how are conflicts avoided? How does the CPU or MMU split up the address space? Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. I have a question about AP Computer Science AB. I plan on taking this course next year as a senior in high school and pursue a career in Computer Engineering or a Systems Analyst. I love me some computers. Now, I have heard that some knowledge about java language is helpful prior to taking this course. As of right now, I have downloaded the Java Development Kit (JDK) and Dr.Java in hopes to get a head-start. I wanted to know if anyone could give me a push in the right direction from here. Where do I start learning the very basics of Java? I have some experience on Python, but Python isn't used in AP C.S. So a push in the right directio…

Hey guys, I'm an aspiring Game Designer and here's my question: I've heard that a Computer Science degree doesn't generally give you a big boost when applying for a job at a game company. Do you think that a degree in Digital Entertainment and Game Design would give me a big boost seeing as how it's much more specific to the Game Design scene? This is a pretty significant question I need answered before I spend 2 more years of my life and thousands of my dollars in a technology school going for the degree, thanks!

I have been learning some things about GPUs lately and I have learnt that the basic difference between a CPU and a GPU is that a GPU has MUCH more cores than a CPU, but those cores are not as flexible as those of a CPU, and all of them work in parallel. So what does Apple mean when they say that their M1 SoC has a "8-core GPU" ? Wouldn't that be too underpowered? Then how does it perform so well? Or is it ( as I am guessing ) that they don't literally mean an octa-core GPU, and mean that a "8-block GPU" or something?

After going round in circles on utube/google I still have no answer to these basic questions. The Net is full of descriptions of Qbits, rather than explanations of Qbits. If I code a conventional binary computer I can store 1 or 0 (true or false) and can comer back and retrieve it to find the vlaue (e.g. true or false). If I go to a qubit and find it is in a state of "1 And 0" simultaneously, then how the heck is this useful - being neither one or zero - neither true or false, or conversely true and false simultaneously? How does a qbit having three states 0, 1 and "both 0 and 1" get to be exponentially more powerful? How is a bit of data stored in a…

Hi. I am trying to understand qbits. I have general knowledge of quantum theory. In a ordinary silicon chip a transistor can be set to either 0 or 1 and therefore can store one bit of information that can be read. I understand that a quibit can be in three states. If it is not being read it is in a state which can either be a 0 or a 1. If it is not being read, it in a state which is described as both a 0and a 1 at the same time, a quantum state. Let’s say one wants to store a bit of information in it, example a1. How does one do this? If later we need to retrieve this information, when we retrieve this information, then we must read the information from the qbit, how do…

In java, the order of pre/post increment operator comes first but why, for eg, int x = y++ the asignment operator executes first????, then y plus 1???? in my sense of logic, x should be y+1, not y according to the order of operator in java, y++ and ++y should be no difference, because they are the first in the order but actually, the JVM works not as what I expect, I think maybe the order of operator for java in my reference book is wrong, since x = y+1, that '+' should come before post increment operator in order as the result shows Can any one tell me how does the operator work in my particular case??? thx Albert Can any

I have a question when reading Concrete Mathematics. It's in Unit 2(SUMS) section 7(INFINITE SUMS).Authors have proved that ∑k>=0xk=1/(1-x) (0<=x<1), but they also say: We might also try setting x=-1 in the formula ∑k>=0xk=1/(1-x), since we've proved that this formula holds when 0<=x<1.(Maybe It's on Page 59) I don't know why they can set x=-1 and use the formula correctly. The formula is right when 0<=x<1, isn't it? (PS: My English is really poor. Please point out my mistakes. Thank you!)

hi! I can't seem to answer the following question and i'd be very glad if someone could help me out: is it possible that a regular language would be defined by an infinite regular expression? or, in other words, if L is a regular language, must the regular expression describing L be a finite one? thanks!

a clever computer scientist has devised a RANDOM ADVERTISING SLOGAN GENERATOR http://www.thesurrealist.co.uk/slogan.cgi? where you put in any word, the name of some concept you want to promote, like war or love or bathrooms, whatever and it will suggest an advertising slogan for that concept or product or person so I tried it. http://www.thesurrealist.co.uk/slogan.cgi?word=bathroom you might get some different result though, because it's random so if you do I wish you would post it here, to give an idea of whether it is really inventive or repeats itself or is essentially braindead or not. I think it is quite promising, myself.

What is a most secure encryption algorithm or physical method which can be implemented on modern computers, for example smart phones? Or a method which can be implemented in the near future? It seems they can easily break even RSA nowdeys with help of an accoustic microphone. I mean a method which would not only allow secure communication between smartphones, but also make smartphone completely invulnerable to hackers? Is quantum cryptography now available for smart phones and could be more helpful than any other system?

So, I began working on assignment recently, and it came to me how much information is on Wikipedia. Vast amounts of it are there and viewable by any user. However, the problem I find is there is information, but too much information. I want to find out something about a particular topic and want to see the information that relates to the question I have or simply want to satisfy curiosity. Another problem is Wikipedia is not always up-to-date. It relies on people being willing to go to the article and edit with proper information. Therefore, I propose a new type of Wikipedia software that solves those two major problems, in my opinion. The one idea involves using…

After doing a little bit of war driving with a Nintendo DS, Another security tip (other than the conventional ones) occurred to me. in and amongst the list of SSID`s that I`d collected there were some that no real hacker (unless desperate) would even bother looking at, namely Printers and other Wi-Fi peripherals. most have a company install their Broadband and never really think twice about the factory defaults that any hacker knows the passwords to and can recognise the SSID at 100 paces blindfolded! (I use chemical formulas for all of mine, Case sensitive and includes numbers). So... opening your browser and entering 192.168.*.* (you`ll have to mess about with…

Is the creation of an A.I really possible. I mean can we really write an algorithm to define life? Even the self evolving algorithms lead to nothing more than a new database of what to say when or what to avoid when. What is it that we're missing? any ideas are welcomed. Put forward your theory on how it can be created.

Life as a mixture of hardware and software is a fine model, but heat-sinks, power supplies, I/O and special relativity notwithstanding, any (binary) digital computing system, any computation can be implemented with just hardware, 100%, and that with just the meek and lowly nand gate (and-not). [(Speculation: the reverse may be almost true, but for implementation purposes some kind of "hardware" would seem to be needed.)] In any case bit-slicing, microcoding, FPGA, or just any memory used to implement a function, etc., these things have done away with any line between hardware and software. Good luck with "free will". If nothing else, boolean logic is deterministic.

Do you know of an A/B testing tool that can compare my old website to my new one? The two websites have a completely different design. I'm not talking about running experiments on the same website by altering something on the website. I searched on Google but I couldn't find anything. Please let me know if you know of some tool that does this. Thank you!
