Even if there is no cfhemical effects from its components, they may hinder the scalps' natural processes by physically blocking the pores. Occassional use won't cause any real lasting problems as long as you wash it out at the end of the day. fiveworlds Posted April 14, 2015 Share Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) Well I know that people with sensitive skin especially people who are prone to dermatitis can have particularly bad reactions to hair gel. Causing excessive drying of the scalp and painful lumps. Not only that but the body normally loses skin every day the gel can hold that skin in your hair can make it harder to remove while washing your hair. This skin can become a source of infection and cause inflammation of the scalp as a result. I also wouldn't cut my hair if it wasn't in some way damp first because that can cause irritation of the skin the same way that shaving without water would. Only problem I experienced was a build up after many uses as shampoo is very mild. Solved the problem by shampooing with dishwashing liquid occasionally to remove the build up.
