Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

The other day when browsing on internet for news related to math, i came across an interesting paper which i thought to share with the research community. The title of the paper caught my attention and therefore out of sheer curiosity, i managed to read the paper. I found the paper to be interesting. One can find the paper on the following link provided. http://vixra.org/abs/1308.0126 This author claims that there is a fundamental error in our mathematics. It's related to the circle constant - Pi. How far this is true? If so, how does this impact our science?

An intricate and perfect balance. Nothing and everything, existing simulataneously, every possible outcome of reality. Infinity must perpetuate itself into infinity. It does this with life and death, everything and nothing. See life has expanded, propagated into every possibile outcome, or form of existence. Just as all life we concieve of propagates, divides or splits, to become more then it orginially was. This includes many variations and mutations that stem from one cell into into potential future. Now death is always present in every moment, as nothingness, or absence, void. This space of nothingness is where life grows into, and it is the force the 'turns over' all …

Edgard, you are right about at least one thing; there is one absolute frame of reference. It is the space in which light propagates. If one accepts that the speed of light is constant in all frames of reference, then one must accept that no reference frame is isolated from any other reference frame. Your notion of birds carrying information may be correct, but it makes my brain hurt. I believe what you are actually questioning is how we measure without touching. Unless you accept a defined frame of reference and a means of communication moving at a defined velocity within that frame of reference (and all other frames), you have no basis for consistent measuring…

By conventional methods it is difficult to justify Bell's theorem. However we all know that a particle of zero spin can decay into 2 particles of +1/2 and -1/2 spin. Using string paradigm this could be visualized as the unwrapping of 2 strings from the same parent in much the same way that a dna double helix de-couples. These strings then get separated by a space like separation but the parent information is encoded in the children. (not sure why?). The strings resonate with each other by a natural symphony and their resonance is reflected in their respective spin orientations and complementary and predictable behaviors. This symphony is not bound by t…

Physics defines nature as a vibration of strings. Is human personality then a symphony of strings encapsulated in dna? Do these strings resonate with the cosmos? These constitute the backbone of my "alpha personality theory..."

I would like to speculate,:- That although REALITY itself is absolute, (Full Stop! ). It is , or can be, modelled by a host of different means, for different purposes. Pictorially ! By Language ! By mathematics ! By physical constructed models! By Computer simulation! And no doubt a host of other types of models I have not mentioned yet. We might be tempted to feel that one or two or three sorts of models are better or more important ,than any other? Might it encourage a better understanding if we used either a single specific model , a set selection of models or as many models as possible, so as to focus on a detail of reality OR , in order to gain a ' a wider , a mor…

As we all know matter is basically made up of "empty space", I was reading that you can compress the human race to fit inside a sugar cube, But still this is only compressing the space between electrons/protons/neutrons, But quarks are also empty space, Yet this "empty space" makes up 90% of a protons mass, This empty space is made up of "virtual particles" that appear and disappear from nothing, Similar to how we are led to believe our "universe" came into existence appearing from nothing, We also know that 90% of the mass we cannot see between stars/galaxies is "Dark", Perhaps virtual particles that are there but are not there, Maybe why we cannot see this dar…

I'm feeling a bit paranoid here. I was trying to boil some water on my stove, and used a nonstick pot, that is to say a pot with teflon or polymer. I forgot about the whole thing, and 45 minutes later I came back. The windows of the house were steamy, and about half the water was gone. I had been heating it on max temperature. Afterwards I've felt a bit groggy, with a mild cough and a tightness to my throat. Is it possible these are the sympthoms of polymer flu fever, which happens if you heat teflon above a certain temperature? The teflon layer was not decomposed in any way, and was always in touch with water. But is it possible it could have been heated to dangerous lev…

At first,we derive out energy-momentum equation,E=mc^2,from quantum mechanics. That is,Special Relativity Theory can be derived out from quantum mechanics. Special Relativity Theory is included in the quantum mechanics. Start from the new thinking,we derive out a new energy-momentum equation. In low energy region, the new energy-momentum equation can transition to E=mc^2. E=mc^2 is only approximate of new energy-momentum equation. The new energy-momentum equation can derive out GZK cut-off and Lorentz symmetry breaking. The new energy-momentum equation take another result.Energy have maximum value.Momentum have maximum value. From this thinking, the scattering problems in q…

Is it possible to have a third charge apart from the ordinary positive and negative? Maybe the third charge would be a charge that can alter or shift its charge from positive and negative at a specific interval or simultaneously?

GR & QM as an mathematical extrapolation assume a mass-less, absolutely straight flying photon. This has never been observed. So it is a galloping unicorn that probably is preventing marrying these two best laws (not theories) we humans have ever had. Logic dictates that striving for a TOE you discard all boundaries and there is one in between GR & QM. So we can as a speculation replace one galloping unicorn by another. we can assume an infinite amount of unspun gravitons in a field and an infinite amount of larger slower Higgs particles being spun into Gluons (Gravitons causing spin two in stead of having that) whereby all mass is un-splitable un-compressible ye…

Hysor. Stephen Crothers is a university trained mathematician and has the courage to state his beliefs, despite his sure knowledge that such beliefs are controversial. I clicked on the video link you supplied, but did not listen to it because of my limited monthly download, and because I am well acquainted with his mathematical challenges that do not receive mathematical replies from those whom claim to have found Black Holes. His ideas pertaining to the CMB are based on the findings of a professional in that field of research. During his student years, he challenged the concept that GR provided mathematical proof for the existence of Black Holes. External experts ag…

If the DNA does not change (radically) over the life of an individual, so that changes in cellular transcription across the age? Propose a study to develop a data base with proteins that change (in amount or structure) over the age and their respective genes. This information will be available to researchers who can fix and add relevant data. In the laboratory: animal tissues in Petri dishes (or organisms). Have their cell cycle analyzed and compared with other samples epigenetically altered. The genes of the cells under study that are most active in the mature stage or elderly, will be silenced (or enabled depending on the case) for the most common genes in young bei…

I wasn't sure where to put this thread. It is an environmental and political question about our long term sustainability. Grains and a variety of vegetables require less water, energy, and land to produce than meat. We often hear in the media that going green means buying fluorescent lights and driving hybrids but long term will humans need to alter our diets? Does anyone in here believe in the future everyone will be vegetarian? "It takes, on average, 28 calories of fossil fuel energy to produce 1 calorie of meat protein for human consumption, [whereas] it takes only 3.3 calories of fossil- fuel energy to produce 1 calorie of protein from grain for human consumption.…

i think you will find that gravity is actually magnetism at a larger scale (the earth) and as all matter is possitvely or negatively charged in respect to earth we get the illusion of the so called weak gravity force present on the surface. on another related topic why is it mass is considered the measure of matter and uses the si unit of kg's ? The unit of kg's is actually a force in particular the force with the si unit newton so the equation weight(newton) = mass(kg) x accel. of gravity is totally wrong its like saying force = force x accel. of g !!! To prove this simply weigh yourself on earth motionless and then weigh yourself in freefall this removes a…

Have you ever thought of why your loves one may tells you Hints and How He/She Lives in Another World, especially during dreaming while sleeping? From a viewpoint of Physics(Maybe yes?), Can it be the clock that runs in the dead body at the same rate with the living body while sleeping? You see, the conditions in which a dead body in the coffin is much the same as a living body sleeping in a bedroom. In reply to those who vote down for this post, if you are not satisfy with this post. Let me explain a bit more in detail. First, Possibility You must first understand that the above thread is just a pure thought. Pure thought can be a hypothesis or a rubbish …

We always think of using green renewable energy source as a future energy source to overcome the current energy crisis. My question in instead of building solar panels on Earth, why don`t we just build giant solar panels in space, facing directly towards sun and not effected by day and night (only when solar storm occurs). It sounds good, isn`t?
