  1. I can only assume that you haven't read any of this thread, because all of your points have already been covered, in far more detail; it's a bit rude to assume you have anything to add too a two page thread, by answering the OP; given the simplicity of your post.
  2. Then why the argument?
  3. Of course secrects can be kept, I'm keeping my identity secret from you... 😉 If you read again you'll note the brackets (that matter) which is meant both sarcastically and factually... How do you know that? Most secrets were still guarded, long after the war, unless it was good propaganda to leak...
  4. We can't even be sure of dolphin's and we've been talking to them for 50ish years... The ultimate barrier is language; how could a dolphin tell you what it feels like to be a dolphin and if we're so special; we'd be able to tell them what it feels like to be a dave...
  5. LOL, funny how it work's, isn't it; Bill Clinton couldn't keep a secret (that mattered) that only one other person "knew", what chance a secret known by many 10's/100's/1000's etc.?
  6. Time and gravity are just directions, it's only when YOU move that the direction has any influence on YOU; an oversimplification but it's a good place to start your education.
  7. People still need to be taught how to cooperate and help each-other, which is better done from a moral POV; imagine a world taught by Jeff Bezos/Trump et al using their moral compass, no wait... 🤔 You're conflating religion with politics, those in the know understand what piety really mean's...
  8. Good point, what level of comunication, with our universe, is required for sentience to emerge? And what level of communication is required for us to recognise a fellow sentient?
  9. It wouldn't make me not a troll...
  10. Did you ever hide under a bridge?
  11. Sunak needs more money??? It's also hard to see a positive legacy from the next person who picks up the challis... "all they we now need is a cake, we can share in." FTFY An economy needs it's population to spend (because we can tax that); guess what would be better for our economy: A poor person (most of us), who has enough to live on, with a little left over and spend every last cent (for pleasure). Or A rich person, who is afraid of the cake???
  12. Ouch, consider me burned...
  13. That depends on how big your ears are... 😉
  14. I can't imagine the mindset of someone who would want that poisoned challis...
  15. Just because religion can be used and taught wrongly, doesn't mean the philosophy is wrong, false or lies; when, for example, is it wrong to forgive, be nice or help our fellow human's? Indeed... If you understand the wisdom, you can teach others the meaning of it, whatever size (be it small, medium or large); if you don't understand the wisdom, you'll only confuse them, and yourself...
  16. Of course it's subjective, which means the only debate that's open, is with yourself... If you're content with your meaning, you're a lucky dog... 😇 😉
  17. We should consider the criminal as a victim, if we want a rattle free, well balanced, drive shaft...
  18. Balance depends on the weight of your bias... 🤔
  19. I was thinking about a logical rule of when to lie; fiction is what we tell ourselves, a lie is what we tell other's for validation of our fiction... my point is, logic does not and can't understand emotional intelligence and that's rational, given our humanity... But you surely need a rule, to express yourself effectively; don't you?
  20. You seem very confused about what actually exists and when; all you can know, with any degree of certainty, is what's happening now, to you; for instance, if you're alive in 97 year's, you can confirm the transit of Venus (unless it gets hit by a Tesla and, in 96 year's, it crashed into the sun)...
  21. Indeed, how would we know? I can't immagine a question that would not result in a stereotype; imagine if you were an AI and had to convince people that you were deserving of, not being switched off...
  22. Interesting that you dismiss the role of religion in the meaning of life; given your copy-n-paste/quote... Don't make me break out "the parable of the madman"... 🤔 The thing he missed is, a dog doesn't choose it's meaning, it just accepted the meaning given in the place it find's itself; lucky dawg...
  23. I can't be bother to read his post (no disrespect, it's irrelevant), I have explained in the post's above... Yes: Just because you can't find meaning, that doesn't mean no meaning exists; if you want to find your own meaning, pay attention to "all" of your teacher's (including the nihilist) and when you understand their understanding, you can decide for yourself what is meaningful; which circles back to the subjective nature of the question/s in the OP, and why they're essentially the same question and why you need to think about what you want answered. I just don't agree with your nihilistic approach to life... 😉
  24. No, why would it? If that's what mistermack wrote, then you're both wrong... If you find peace in the twittering of a religion, how are they false or lies, and how is that not a meaning in life? BTW Twitter is a false religion, in case you were wondering...
