  1. FYI Ed - Perhaps a better home for that brand of jokes exists over here: http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/35130-political-humor/ Cheers.
  2. Perhaps this one is more to your liking:
  3. We're still over at TFS if you ever want to come by and say hello. Police arrested two kids yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one - and let the other one off.

There's some powerful awesome here: http://world.mathigon.org/
  5. Wait a minute. Just one day ago in post #11, you said you didn't know and cannot confirm how common this is. Yet, here you are now repeating that "most people cannot do it naturally." You're not being consistent. If you have evidence that "most people cannot do it naturally," then share that. However, if you lack such evidence, then you need to stop making the claim.
  6. Thanks for sharing, but that doesn't really answer the question I asked.
  7. If you do not have real figures of how may people can do this naturally, then how can you know it's not a very common ability?
  8. Yes, but I do not believe this is a unique ability or even that uncommon. Also, I'm unsure that I could do it "for as long as I want." A quick test suggests that a minute or two is easy, but I suspect prolonged attempts to do this (entire days/weeks/months/etc.) would result in muscle fatigue.
  9. It really depends on which specific aspect of psychology you're discussing. Therapy is more art than science, for example, but there are other very scientific aspects about it and many experiments that follow quite strictly to the scientific method. Where it can be challenging sometimes is in measuring complex situations or concepts and forming conclusions that map on to others or help you to form a valid model of the world. Humans, after all, aren't simple billiard balls where interactions can be calculated to the 14th decimal.

    http://techcrunch.com/2013/10/18/wolfram-alpha-launches-problem-generator-to-help-students-learn-math/?ncid=fb Here's a link to the tool: http://www.wolframalpha.com/problem-generator/
  11. Mahatma Gandhi, as you know, walked barefoot most of the time, which produced an impressive set of calluses on his feet. He also ate very little, which made him rather frail and, with his odd diet, he suffered from bad breath. This made him a... (Oh man, this is so bad, it's good) super-calloused fragile mystic hexed by halitosis.
  12. Love this. A few more views at the link. What do you think? Beneficial, or just another item for the rubbish heap? http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2013-08/simplest-periodic-table-weve-ever-seen
  13. Glad to see you made it over, mate. Looking forward to our continued interactions here and elsewhere.

I'll ask again... Aren't posts to a thread called "Political Humor" supposed to be at least remotely funny?
  15. Making bad chemistry jokes because all the good ones Argon.
  16. Lol. Shared it yesterday. http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/69477-who-really-killed-our-ambassador-to-libya/page__view__findpost__p__708916 No. We've decided as a nation to instead focus our resources on proving the president was born in Kenya.
  17. Do you perhaps have a diagnosed problem that impacts your reading comprehension? That's the only reasonable explanation I can think of given your perception of what I shared. What standards are those? The ones that allow us to separate fact from fiction, and reality from myth, perhaps?
  18. As has been repeatedly (and often) demonstrated to you, this premise is false, yet it remains at the foundation of your entire position. My problem is less with the politicians (and their corporate public relations arms like Fox News) who lie and more with our ignorant populace who keep allowing themselves to be spoon fed those lies unquestioned. Your point is very simply wrong. It is unfounded, and nonsensical upon even remedial scrutiny. Yet... You keep repeating it. Over. And Over. And over and over again. What does that say about you? What does that say about us as a people?
  19. Groupthink? Maybe the same way german soldiers behaved before and during WWII?

^Yes. One can have a good time socially with friends on occasions like new year's eve and still care about broader social issues like healthcare for the poor. If the intent is to argue otherwise with that photo, then the argument being made is intensely weak.

  23. Florida republican governor Charlie Crist has had enough and endorses Obama. http://www.politico.com/blogs/burns-haberman/2012/08/crist-endorses-obama-133215.html
