Everybody knows well light is bending when it passes nearby the very big mass star. But photon has no mass. Why light is bended by very big gravity star? Any related equation about it?

Imagine you have two magnets set up so they repel each other and cannot turn. Now you bounced up and down on one of the magnets repeatedly but not hard enough for the magnets to touch. You are imparting energy into this 'spring-cusion' but where does the energy go? Does some of it become electric current and/or EM waves? If EM waves are produced, is their wavelength determined by the rate of the bouncing and the speed of light? Can you modulate the wavelength of very low frequency radio waves by bouncing magnets off of each other and changing the rate of the bouncing?

We know energy can be translated into matter. But I wonder which one is correct from this transform equations. A) Energy---------------------------------> matter + antimatter B) Energy + vacuum -------------------> matter + antimatter C) Energy + space----------------------> matter + antimatter D) Energy + vacuum + space---------> matter + antimatter E) Energy + space time ---------------> matter + antimatter F) Energy + vacuum + space time---> matter +antimatter G) Others Which one is correct? And, why do you think like that? Do you have any theoritical background?

I do not believe in the existence of mind without matter. What is mind? We have very few analogues that we know - the fields. What is the magnetic field and especially the gravitational field? About gravitational field we know it is a property of matter. We know its effect but do not know what's gravitational field. (About the magnetic field we know more, but we still do not know what it is.) One's properties matter is that two materials can not be in the same place at the same time. But fields may be in the same place and same time.So fields are not matter. What are they? By analogy we can ask what is mind? Has certain physical properties as fields but not yet d…

Set up diamagnetic levitation like this. goo.gl/owIJo, goo.gl/1efGV. Above or below the magnet place a disc of materal, the materal must be thin and light, it will probbably be light enough if it can be made thin enough. Put fins along the top or bottom of the disc from the center to the edge that are black on one side and white on the other, they can't extend far from the disc. Put the experiment into a vacuum such as that found inside a light bulb and shine a laser onto the end of one of the fins. Would this test the materal to destruction? How long would this be likely to take with for example steel?

Someone showed me something online about wireless electricity (sorry to be so vague). The basic logic was that a magnetic field could be tuned to some frequency where it would only discharge to a device set to receive the power at that frequency. Is this possible? What would prevent it from discharging/grounding to something other than the intended receiver? What kind of wave would the transmission be? A microwave? An ion chain?

Think about this case. The Sun is a big mass object. So the gravity is very big as you know. The ray emitted from the Solar photosphere come to Earth every minute. Hello guys, I wasn't interested in these stuff those days and I never got it. Now when you do a car turn the friction from the tires provide the centripetal force right. I have few quick questions. How does the friction from tires give a force in the centripetal direction, how come it is not in the direction that is opposite to velocity direction? If the centripetal force is towards the centre why is car going in a circle, wouldn't it be sucked into the centre, Am I missing some resulting forces? Thanks guys

If the 1/6 gravity of the moon can hold the Co2 to the Surface then an atmosphere can be formed and then seeds, water and nutrients can be added to start growing plants to make oxygen. My link

  18. Hello, First i would like to point out i am 16 years of age, with many different ideas... and a very large mental capacity. First i would like to start off with what TRON is... based on the NEWER movie if some do not know. Here is the Trailer to the newer movie Alright now onto the more advanced stuff. In the movie they used a lazer to blast the human into "the GRID" as it would be called, but is more into the terms of a type of CyberSpace Now here is where i got to thinking. it has already been confirmed that scientists are working on things like molecular Transportation and stuff like that, How this is done is beyond me i still have some…

I would like to know how an object can reflect light?Does the object must first absorb a photon with energy equal to the energy difference between two orbitals of atoms,so that it can reflect colour when the excited electron release energy with frequency equal to visible light's frequency? Another question is that where does the energy goes to when an object absorb light which is not the colour the object possess?

It is said that, Virtual particles generally appear as matter - antimatter pairs that anniliate shortly after appearing. There is considerable certainty that this happens more often closer to mass. If I understand right, normal matter, the majority of which are atoms, is mostly empty space. Should it not be expected that Virtual particles appear not only more often closer to mass. but regularly appear inside matter, in between the atoms. Please try to imagine. I my imagination, this is what happens. The collision of a Virtual particle with one of the electrons that fill the empty space around atoms as a probability wave is almost a guaranty. Electrons are always her, the…

  21. This is for science fiction I'm working on. Basically I have a spaceship that transports detachable cargo boxes (which would weigh like 10,000 pounds or so). In deep space the box detaches and one of the crew members goes out on a tether and grabs it. The ship keeps moving and he holds onto the box dragging it through space. Ok so I figure that much is definitely possible, but what if the ship slows and the box keeps drifting towards it. Would he be able stop what little forward momentum the box had by putting himself between it and the ship without being smashed? Would he be able to push the box around a little if he was sort of using the more massive ship as groundi…

  22. I have some some small bar magnets and some radio shack enamel coated wire a big screw and some other small parts. My question is this. The radio shack wire is 3 different guages. I want to get 300 turns out of this wire and I will probably need to combine the wire. My question is do i just wrap the first wire then the second wire then on the third one leave one end out then wind the coil then leave the end out and connect those ends to the battery. Or do i need to daisy chain the 3 different guages of wire and solder them together end to end. to make one 28 guage wire connected to a 30 guage wire connected to a 32 guage wire. Thanks For any help.

Play the game at http://snarxiv.org/vs-arxiv/. The concept of the game: You are presented with the titles of two papers. One paper is a real one posted at the arXiv. The other is fake, with the title automatically generated using a context-free grammar. Your job: Guess which is the real paper. After guessing you will be presented with another pair of titles. You can play as long as you want. The game will give you a ranking based on your ability to ferret out the real physics papers versus the fake ones. Do slightly worse than 50% and you are ranked "worse than a monkey". Dropping down even lower makes you a "ninth year graduate student". Do well and you will rise fro…
