Hello everyone. New to the board here, and I was hoping someone would be able to give me a hand in developing some of the background information for a science fiction property I am developing. While the information I need isn't strictly relevant to the plot of the story, I want to lay as realistic of a backdrop as possible. This is the basic information: It is 100-200 years into the future. We have developed faster than light travel to the degree that it's possible to travel ~100 light years in 6 months' time. The major space agencies of the Earth have been combined into a single central agency. This agency has spent decades building and proving a line of 15 …

The truth is that scientists frequently use the term “unknown” in their research, and I thought to myself: This phrase can give you a glimpse into the most important problems facing any research. For the experiment, I searched for the phrase “unknown” contained in a relatively new discovery: the glymphatic system, and I easily found a set of the most important questions facing this discovery, and I think the answer to them will open great horizons in this field, and these are: 1- whether sleep timing promotes glymphatic function remains unknown. 2- However, the relative contribution of each clearance system and their compensatory effects in delaying …

Can a sophisticated individual rise above ideology? All thought is saturated with egocentric and sociocentric presuppositions. That is, all thought contains highly motivating bias centered in the self or in ideologies such as political, religious, and economic theories. Some individuals are conscious of these internal forces but most people are not. Those individuals who are conscious of these biases within their thinking can try to rid their judgments of that influence. Those who are not conscious, or little conscious of such bias, are bound to display a significant degree of irrational tendencies in their judgments. An intellectual might be properly def…

I have a nicely built shed (Amish style) 24X10, inside that shed I built a room that is 10 feet wide by 8 feet deep. Inside the room I insulated the walls and sheet rocked them as well. I have a small vent (side vent that was already installed that actually is part of the wall and a cut a small hole in the other wall of the sheet rock to allow air to pass. I had a small garden that grew in early spring of 06 into the fall of 06 with no problems. The light inside was about 1000 watts and all in all the tempature in the room was 70 degrees inside while a bit warmer outside. As the seasons began to get cooler outside the shed 50 and 40 degrees the tempature remained 70 …

Survival Most books that teach the language of Mathematics, ignore our cognition’s abilities to understand and define the fundamental concepts of this language. Language is a tool that gives the cognition its ability to examine the object, the subject and the value of object/subject relations. For billions of years, living things have been learning how to deal with internal and external challenges occurring in their ways, and as the phenomena of life becomes more and more complex, it needs better tools of communication that will give it the ability to save and develop life from the single gene to the existence of civilizations. The language in its bot…

I am God but I have to be careful and do things slowly. If you have any questions for me please reply to my post. I want to take my time and explain everything. I was already kicked off of the unexplained-mysteries.com forum because I went to fast with too much information. I don't want to make the same mistake here. I will take my time and answer all of the questions presented to me. I have a story to tell. I will take my time and will carefully and professionally present it to this website.

Hi, I'd like some explanations of what the primary, secondary, and tertiary structures of proteins, protein purification, and basic protein spectroscopy are. I've taken only 2 quarters of inorganic chemistry. Most of my work has been in stoichiometry. Anybody think they can give me an explanation of these things?

Something that might be of interest to those here... a National Geographic special airing on Sunday the 11th October entitled Dinosaurs Decoded. Here is a synapsis of the show: With stunning animation, Dinosaurs Decoded brings to life a vision of dinosaurs unlike any you’ve ever seen before. Groundbreaking work by famed paleontologist Jack Horner, Mark Goodwin, and others reveals dinosaur underwent extreme transformations as they grew. They sprouted and lost horns and bumps on their skulls. And males shed dull colors for startlingly bright ones. A young Triceratops or T.rex may have looked so different from its parents you’d have a hard time recognizing it. …

Can someone please describe a simple (or kindof simple) process for obtaining magnetite in powder or rock, solid, whatever form. Is it true that if I take a magnet and move it around in dark sand from most beaches on the east coast of the U.S., I will have magnetite on the magnet? If so, wouldn't there be other magnetic metals on the magnet, like hematite, etc., and how could I purify this magnetite? Your imput will be greatly appreciated, thanks.

As part of my work, I am looking into possible future discoveries/advancements which may prove pivotal in the near future of mankind. To this end I would appreciate any ( and I mean any) ideas or guesses, any of you have, about the changing face of science in the next 100 years. This could include the discoveries/advancements themselves, their political, economic or social influence or anything else which could be considered a landmark in human development. All responses, no matter how humble, would be gratefully received.
