OK I'll give this forum a go. It is not actually homework, but study that is related and extra. A 2.00kg textbook rests on a frictionless, horizontal surface. A cord attached to the book passes over a pulley whose diameter is 0.150m (my note R = 0.075), to a hanging book with a mass 3.00kg. The system is released from rest and the books are observed to move 1.20m in 0.800s. a) What is the tension in each part of the cord? b) What is the moment of inertia of the pulley about it's rotational axis. This is an end of chapter question Q 10.13 in the global edition of University Physics with modern physics by Young and Freedman. I (think I) can work the…

A scale reads 380 N when a piece of copper is hanging from it. What does it read (in N) when it is lowered so that the copper is submerged in water? I need to find out the mass of the copper right to know how much water it displaced then take the 380 minus the weight of that water?

  4. A metal bowl with a weight of 1.35 N is placed in a larger kitchen container filled with corn oil. How much corn oil must the bowl displace in order to float? For reference, the mass density of corn oil is about 900 g/liter and its weight density is about 8.82 N/liter. Please give your answer in liters.

Hello There :) I have the following problem: I and my friend are trying to solve the task in the attachment. We are a little bit lost with the notation of g(x) function. Could anyone help to write function f(x,y) = 3x2y+4xy in notation of g(x)? I think solving this issue might bring some understanding for us so please help. Thank, Patryk

Since this is math Tutorial section, let me share something that I wish, could be a big help for kids who's really having hard time understanding (or I may say, following) the traditional method of finding the square root of a number (as I do, until now). but before we go to that, let me first share you the following: 1) SQUARING TWO-DIGIT NUMBERS ENDING IN FIVE 5^2 = 25 15^2 = 225 25^2 = 625 35^2 = 1,225 45^2 = 2,025 55^2 = 3,025 65^2 = 4,225 75^2 = 5,625 85^2 = 7,…

  8. Hi all, I am currently doing research on the hygiene of a reusable cup. In this research, I am contaminating the cup with coffee+milk+sugar and chocolate milk. Then the cups will be tested under different variables like different storage times, 1 time used versus multiple time used cups and also comparisons between conventional alternatives will be made. after contamination, the cups will be washed in a professional dishwasher and examined organoleptically. Then the cups will be swabbed and the swabs sent to an external certified microbiological lab. They will test the cups for : -CFU/cm2 -enumeration of Enterobacteriaceae My questions are : - how muc…

Hi! Hope you'll help me a bit. How to know if there will be Oxygen left or not? And how to solve this? I can solve simple equations these ones are too hard for me: Al2O3 + Na2CO3 -> NaAlO2 + CO2 PCl5 + KNO2 -> NOCl + POCl3 + KCl If I don't understand at the end I'll use equation checker service, but I hope I'll understand)))

Hey there, I‘ve got some questions about Hess law or to be specific I’ve got some exercises I’m not getting the right answers: 1. C2H2 is being burned and 1.3 *10^3 KJ/mol energy is relieved . H(CO2)= -394KJ/mol and H(H20)= -286 KJ/mol.The binding enthalpy for C2H2 is asked. How do I calculate that? 2. Si can be gained if SiF4 reacts with Al. Thereby AlF4 and Si is being produced. H(SiF4) = -1550 KJ/mol and H(AlF3)= -1301 KJ/mol. What would the enthalpy be? I tried to do this two questions for hours but I’m always receiving the wrong answers. I would be thankful if someone could help me. Thanks a lot! greetings

  12. I have found a great quote by the World Health Organization calling stress the “health epidemic of the 21st century”. A couple of thousand of sites are using this quote in quotation marks - without linking their source - and I can't find it. Advanced search of the WHO page using "with the exact phrase" does not find this quote. Perhaps everyone is misspelling the quote? Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong - and where the original publication dubbing stress the “health epidemic of the 21st century” might be found? Thank you! (P.S. Own solution attempts After an hour of fruitless hunting with google I have given up - should no one be able to…

  14. Hello everyone. For my biology report I was asked to ask a question that tested the methods for an experiment. Here is what I have so far. "The main goal of this experiment was to examine how different antibiotics affected the growth of NRC-1 and the area of control. A question that was tested with these methods was: Is a specific antibiotic more effective than others against NRC-1? This question is important to the global community because" Not sure how I would answer how it would be important to the global community.

  15. Hey everyone. I'm doing a high school lab report/ extended experimental investigation (whatever u like to call it) and it's all about the calorimetry of fuels. Though this isnt really important, the fuels i'm doing are straight petrol, E25, E50, E75 and straight ethanol. But I'm really struggling to find any theory i could link to other than bond energies (for theoretical enthalpy). Could anyone direct me to any theoretical topics i could possibly look at? Or some chemical thermodynamics laws or laws or chemists?? Anything would be better than nothing. Just names of things would be great, i have enough time to look over it all. THANKS GUYS! choose files... …

I am super frustrated. Ok, so my teacher assigned us a buffer lab in which she gives us the desired pH, acid and salt, and either H20 or Ethyl Alcohol. The buffer that was assigned to me was a buffer consisting of Lauric Acid and Dodecyl sulfate, with the desired pH of 5. kA=5.1E-6. I thought this would be simple! Here's my procedure. The henderson-hasselbach equation to find the ratio. 5 = 5.3 + log(b/a) And so I got a ratio of .501 moles of the base for everyone 1 mole of acid. Next, I converted the moles into grams = I think it was about 4 grams of lauric acid and 2.89 grams of dodecyl sulfate after using their molar masses (lauric acid= …

  21. My elementary school had its first annual science fair a few weeks ago, so me and my friend signed up and we decided to do it on wireless electricity. So naturally, we built a tesla coil. It took a couple of tries, but we eventually got it to barely illuminate a portion of a fluorescent light bulb. We somehow managed to make it to the regional competition, but we need to make it at least power the full lightbulb. The lightbulb only blinks when the spark gap flashes, which is every 1-2 seconds. We used an HV transformer from a bug zapper which had 2 HV input and 2 HV output wires. The 2 input wires were attached to a 9V battery and the output wires were attached to each end…

Hi- I am working with my son to create a homemade battery to power an old fisher price dune buggy that previously was powered by a 12v battery. We created a voltaic pile with pennies and zinc washers and it achieves 12 volts plus (we reduced the voltage to just under 12 volts). However, it doesn't power the motors on the buggy (or one motor). We were able to power the motors with a 9 volt household battery. What is the required amperage to power the motors (there are two- 15 teeth). Also, how do we achieve this with a homemade battery? Much thanks- need advice!

  24. Hello, First check the appendix. This is a photo of the given problem and my FBD The description is in dutch. The translation: If the springs are coupled to eachother without the mass they are at resting position. There is no tension in the springs. When the mass is applied the springs will extend. Thereafter a punch (i.e. krachtstoot) is applied. The only value given is 60 cm The mass and spring constant and punch i declared myself. Mass, m = 2kg Spring constant, k = 10 kg/m Punch, Fp = 100 N Now where do i begin? Im not sure what my second step should be? I cannot calculate the Y position etc. (First step was draw fbd…

I currently have a results graph that includes the time and the temperature at each time. I tried to turn this into a bar graph but I'm confused as to how to fit all the fabrics into one graph. Please help. Thanks
