Off the top of my head, here are some arguments: 1. Scientific evidence shows that sex and gender are rooted in genetics. While there are some outdated, "blank slate" theories of mind, these don't seem compatible with modern biology. People may be assigned one sex or the other based on their genitals, however the development of male or female genitals and other physiological differences between male and female is genetic. 2. While it is possible that some individuals are born with a desire to change their sex, meaning it may be related to their biology, this isn't necessarily the case with everyone who wants to do so, and each individual case likely differs. …

It's about which side will pack the biggest political punch, after all, there's no-one more determined to end smoking than an ex-smoker. It was a throwaway line with a satirical twist about which side wins; when only one side can ever really win.

People say the GOP is really racist and sexist probably more than Trump. What do people mean the GOP is saying really racist and sexist comments. And why do they say they more racist and sexist than Trump?

I'd go off on a limb and assume that this is a viable option. There are more than enough good reasons to prevent this from being done to minors on a national level. What adults do when they are old enough to consent to it is less of an issue.

Hi. Never got it clear about electoral votes, whatever that is nor whoever cast those votes. Yes, searched for it. Correct, have no interest in politics. Does it mean a candidate in U.S. elections can lose the election while having more votes count than the contender ?

You seem to be conflating "pure democracy" with mob rule. @Night FM What is your definition of a pure democracy?

Nellis? known as area 51; who is the top gun, master chief, six star supergeneral, total ruler, 'god' that does and plans and controls everything with total authority reporting to no one? Is from the Air Force or other branch ? Or is there someone at the Pentagon that controls that 'supergeneral' ? Seems that by ~2011, abruptly or simultaneously, many 4 star generals ceased :

As far as I understand, Trump blames the Dems for causing high inflation in the US, but does not explain why this is happening; according to Trump, dollar inflation is some kind of evil spirit that he will exorcise. My question is, do any US media outlets (maybe CNN or Fox News) say that inflation is caused by printing money, and the only way to overcome inflation is to raise the taxes?

I'm curious what your opinion is on the best ways to prevent domestic violence. My understanding is that most resources dedicated to preventing domestic violence are either legal resources, or private sector resources (e.x. websites which host escape plans, battered women's shelters, and so on, though I'm aware that men can also be victims of domestic violence). My assumption is that the biggest barrier to preventing domestic violence is if it is an ongoing thing which the victim enables by returning to the abuser. Obviously this would fall outside of the realm of the law, since the law can only arrest the perpetrator once an incident occurs or issue a protective ord…

What is Amazon promoted one Presidential candidate over another? I mean they are pretty good at showing things that I may be interested in. And they can change the price to influence me. Bruce Schenier’s Data and Goliath book states that personal data is collected, shared, and sold. It has all your demographics and psychological profile. They can essentially read your mind. But my questions are how are both candidates using this information? And.does it change your mind and influence your vote. It doesn’t have to be a formal ad. For instance if I see the war in Ukraine is brutal and the people are fighting hard to fight Russia, but we limit what weapon…

As far as I can see, US is moving towards a collapse of the presidential power: smart and rational people are not allowed to become candidates for presidency, because a smart president can become a competitor for the financial aristocracy; moreover, a man must be corrupted to become a politician, because you can find dirt (kompromat) on a corrupt person, and dirt is the best way to ensure a politician's loyalty to his group. If I was an American, I would better vote NOTC (spoil the ballot). And if the collapse becomes, the power can transfer from the central power to governors. However I am afraid that the US governors are controlled by the financial aristocracy too, and …

Donald Trump had four years to lead the United States and failed us by his own choosing. Whether it be in foreign policy or domestic policy, he did not protect the nation as commander in chief. Trump talks a lot but doesn’t say much other than to hurl insults and make false statements. Quality of life is not a business …

I want to hear others' opinions on under what circumstances should war occur, and how it should be waged. (I'm aware that there are existing bodies such as the Geneva convention which regulate the rules of war). I'm not of the opinion that war can never realistically occur, but obviously there should be restraints on it.

Intelligence suggests Russia is planning to invade Ukraine in January apparently with the intent to take it over. Likewise, China has been stepping up plans to seize Taiwan. Have been talking about it for years, but seem to sense more opportunity in todays global political climate. Should US respond if/when either of those two things happen? If so, how and for how long? Does your answer change if both events happen at the same time? Game it out…

On social media, the word "feminism" gets thrown around a lot, often, to my knowledge, without subscribing to much of an academic definition. My perception is that it has almost become a "dirty word" on social media, and often just refers to anything a person happens to dislike (e.x. associating the term with misandry or dysfunctional "whiny" individuals rather than more historical or academic uses. As an example, if a person types "feminist" into Youtube search results, many of the search terms lead to videos of individuals behaving obnoxiously similar to what you would find if you searched for "Karen" videos or for other politically charged terms such as "SJWs"). S…

While I don't consider this a serious proposal, these are my thoughts on how totalitarianism could have beneficial social effects in the right situations. It's purely a devil's advocate argument. Everyone is treated as equal and human under the law, but obviously people aren't equal in terms of other qualities. As an example, the type of people who identify as "incels" are obviously defective in most if not all redeeming human traits. Whether this is a product of bad genetics, bad environment, bad character, or a combination of multiple factors, I'm not sure, and it is probably multifaceted. But, regardless, I don't see any redeeming value in allowing such indiv…

My view is that most human issues (e.x. mental health support) are applicable to all humans, regardless of whether they are men or women. I see a tend of fragmenting issues into "men's and women's issues" (e.x. "men's mental health support or women's mental health support). While there might be specific issues, such as mental health issues, which are more prevalent specifically in men or in women, I think most would agree that promoting mental health in all people is a good thing, so I don't automatically the this fragmenting of issues along the lines of sex/gender necessary.

With the Supreme court deciding that checks and balances don't work unless you can avoid checks and balances... Can Biden just... take care of TFG now? But you know... officially? A blacked out CIA hit with the presidential seal on the heavily redacted documents should count right? National security and whatnot. Also do we all know where this is going now? Once the lower courts rerule and defines the difference between an official and a private act, Trumps legal team is just gonna cry foul on that one too and demand the Supreme court delivers it's own definitions and rulings on that also, after it sits in the damn docket until it has at least an inch or so of dust on…

The US does not allow Ukraine to attack Russian bases with long-range missiles (ATACMS). This war looks like if you play Starcraft with somebody, and say that you allow him to use only hydralisks against your tanks; if he uses mutalisks, you will break the computer. I suppose some people here have played Starcraft and understand my metaphor. I am afraid that Ukraine is losing the war because of such asymmetry. This is absolutely terrible, a victory of Putin will be a total catastrophe for the humanity like the victory of Hitler. I hope that the USA will nevertheless allow Ukraine to use ATACMS, despite the Putin’s nuclear threats. And this leads to a risk of a nuclea…

My view is that the term "conspiracy theory" is often misused to refer to theories which are considered "patently absurd". As an example, I've heard the "flat earth theory" referred to as a "conspiracy theory", even though it's technically not one, just a fringe theory. (Though some flat earth believers do believe that there is a conspiracy to manufacture false evidence of a round earth). A lot of conspiracy theories are absurd on the basis of common sense alone (e.x. the idea that alien lizardmen secretly rule the word), though others, even if false, are more plausible (e.x. that JFK's assassination was part of a political conspiracy), and some, like Watergate, have…

My thought is that, hypothetically, if a form of government were able to meet people's needs and protect people's rights on par with or better than a democratic system of government, then the "structure" of government itself would be irrelevant. Democratic governments aren't an end in and of themselves, but a means for meeting such needs. In practice, though, certain types of governments (e.x. totalitarian states) have a well-recognized reputation of violating human rights - and it may be likely that even the worst dictators imagine themselves to be "benevolent dictators" in the likeness of Plato's Republic. In pure theory, though, what would a superior form of gover…

My thoughts are as follows. Marriage generally consists of both a legal institution and a private ceremony. A private ceremony and whatever non-legally binding vows they take is purely in the domain of the individuals getting married, their loved ones, their church, and so forth. (e.x. Some churches would hold gay weddings even prior to same-sex marriage being officially recognized by their state). Marriage in the legal sense obviously can't and does not obligate people to live together, or even have a formal ceremony (e.x. in most states that I'm aware of, people who decide to live together as a couple can file for common law marriage if they meet the legal requirem…

Doctors grapple with how to save women’s lives amid ‘confusion and angst’ over new Louisiana law A lifesaving drug used to stop postpartum hemorrhaging will be pulled off emergency response carts once it becomes a ‘controlled dangerous substance.’ When a woman starts bleeding out after labor, every second matters. But soon, under a new state law, Louisiana doctors might not be able to quickly access one of the most widely used life-saving medications for postpartum hemorrhage. The Louisiana Illuminator spoke with several doctors across the state that voiced extreme concern about how the rescheduling of misoprostol as a controlled dangerous substance …

I see "democracy" used as a rhetorical term quite a bit, so I'd like to attempt to better define it. In developed nations, such as the US and the UK, I'd define democracy as a representative system of government which allows democratic participation (e.x. voting for representatives and executives) which includes a Constitution that guarantees rights. It may also include institutions such as an electoral college in which popular vote isn't always the deciding factor in an election. I'd argue that this is different from "pure democracy" or "direct democracy", and that this is a good thing, since such things would effectively be mob rule and allow the presumed majority …
