I dont exactly know how to put the question im trying to ask but if one were to be interested in designing gadgets liek military science or something (my particular inpiration for this is advances in exokelaton and augmented reality research[example Land Warriors, BLEEX, etc]) what would one study and what steps would be taken to get projects started and researched? What i think im trying to say is, how would i go about becoming a scientist who choosies his own projects and designs military or defense gadgets such as weapons and etc. This may sound liek a childish or fatasy dream of what being a scietist is like but what would be the coolest thing in the world wou…

Hi everybody. I've applied to do a masters in engineering course in chemical engineering at University. I have been reconsidering the choice I made however, and nw I am not sure whether to stick with it or switch and do physics. I'll be honest, I generally get better grades in maths and chemistry than physics, but the subject generally interests me much more than chemistry does. Also, I know the kind of work covered at A level is of a quite different nature to that at University. Chemical engineering still does interest me, not so much the course as a career as a chemical engineer, which I think would be quite exciting and challenging. Therefore, I'm quite unsure abou…

recently i realized things are not fair sometimes, like things in life. for instance, a rich person have lots of money so they can purchase a car, but they might not needed. On the other hand a person doesn't have much money, but they may need a card badly, and they can't afford it. Can anyone tell me why this phenomona so common?

hi every1~ I am a junior at high school and now it is time to select courses for the next year. I am thinking about some AP courses that I want to take, not only because they're "AP Courses", but becuase I like to learn more about those areas of studies. However, I have a feeling that they would be too much overwhelming, as I have heard a couple of scarry stories from my friends. The courses include: bc calculus, ap stats, ap computer prog, and ap chem... Please share your thoughts... thanks!

  9. I think my earliest dabblings in science came from my fascination with space and flight. My parents bought me a book on the solar system when I was quite young, and this sparked my interest in astronomy. I was big into astronomy for years, but during my highschool years I started reading about the physics of the universe. My junior year(4 years ago) I picked up a copy of "The Elegant Universe" by Brian Greene, and this really interested me. In college my interests turned to biology and medicine, my future career (anyone know how to properly clean telescope mirrors without damaging them? I'd like to use the scope again, but the mirror is horrendously dusty) Pictur…

Applies to people in UK who are doing Edexcel Double science Sorry to make a topic on this. I'm just confused at how much I need to achieve the grade I want. I would like a Grade A. So far from the coursework and modules, I have achieved about 43% (out of 50). I went to the website to see the grade boundaries. Useless website. It says I need 80/100 (UMS) for A grade and 90/100 for A*. I just find this riduculous because In order for someone to get an A* not only do they have to score 45/50 for the modules/coursework but also 90% in the final exam (324/360 marks !!!). What the f*** (I'm really mad) I can't believe after all this hard work of gettin…

  11. Ay guys. I heard of the combined medical programs that allow you to automatically go to medical school without taking the MCATs or going through all the stress of applying to medical school. However, they are highly competitive and require much interviews and have a rigorous admissions process. Does any1 go to these programs? I think I was accepted to the Brooklyn college one, but i dunno if i should go in? Are they good?

Did you guys hear about the New York school searches. Well the letter they gave us said that they were going to randomly pick a day and search the student for weapons, cell phones, MP3 players etc. And they are going to use the flight metal detectors. Here is a link to a copy of the NY times article. . http://www.refuseandresist.org/police_state/art.php?aid=2345 I personally believe that this is total waste of time and money. I mean my keys will probably set the alarm off and so will my belt buckle. the circular said that i should take of such metallic objects and put them in my book bag. 1) my bookbag isnt big enough 2) my pants will fall off. What about p…

  15. I'm a middle school science teacher and I'm looking for ways to creatively use the web for my students. I currently have a site http://MrGScience.com which is mainly one way communication --- me to them. What I'd rather have is a collaborative site which better engages the students, allowing them to post and comment similar to a forum. If anyone has experience in this area or knows of some good sites please reply.

I am in grade 10 now. I am gonna get a Canadian citizenship as soon as I graduate from school. After that I will either go to an US university (I am thinking about Arizona) or a Canadian one. But I doubt that everything is gonna be OK in the first case, because I wouldn't be an USA citizen, would I? Besides I am finishing a Canadian High School, not an american one. I also want to know which education is better. And how much will it cost to study in american university for "4 to maximum" years in science degree([theoretical]physics, astronomy, astrophysics, chemistry etc.) What are the High-school requirements to enroll in these university courses?

I am in grade 10 now. And I am very interested in science (physics, astronomy, chemistry) But when I see some threads/topics on physics and other science (even grade 12 physics) I just can't believe that I will ever be able to understand or remember whole bunch of formulas (but I hope I will become smarter when I grow up )! Besides I don't know any good ways to earn like 75000-100000$ for my education. There is one more problem - I immirgated from Russia only a year ago and It seems hard to speak english perfectly by the end of high-school.

Sorry for making yet another A-level science topic edu career etc thread I am revising for my Science GCSE as we speak. (exactly 2 months till "D-day") ________________________________________________________________ Can someone tell me what the Computer Science GCE (AS/A2) is like. In the previous thread I made someone commented that it was like business studies. Is this true? I hate anything to do with spreadsheets and/or access. And also writing up ethical essays on computers and society. Boring. I'm more technical orientated. Is the Computing A-level like business ??? So far I have picked Biology, Mathematics, Critical thinking. I just …

  23. I really need some help here. I'm interested in biochemistry, bioengineering, neuroscience, and cybernetics of the mammalian body. I'm into cognitive processing and more. I assume that Illinois isn't my best bet if I want to go far in these fields. I've been looking at the University of Wisconsin. I just have not been able to figure out which school does more scientific research and actually established found discoveries. I'm simply poor and broke these days. I could get a bunch of loans and never pay them back, that's not a problem. I'm interested in either majoring in chemisrty or premed and I've read here that undergrad degrees don't matter but I still would like to get off to a good start. Also, if I were only to get a BS in chemistry, would there be a big difference in the job opportunities than if I had a masters or better?
