I'm new to the board. Hello all Just hoping you experts can help me! What software do you all use for research? Is there a package that allows you to draw out an overview flowchart of an experiment with each stage of the overall experiment being it's own sub process? Can you assign tasks to different people and design forms for inputing results, which then, depending on the results prompt you onto the next stage? Do any programs offer metrics which allow you to see the progress of the experiment at any stage? What software do the universities use these days? I've just started a very small business and am looking to find some software for my research and have no i…

Three times, over the past few days, while replying to a post and hitting the submit butting, I have found that I had been logged out, and of course, my post not submitted. Has this happened to anyone else ? Is there a timer on how long you can reply to a post?

So after many months of agonizing pain, I finally got my website to a point where it is presentable. Check it out - http://www.thehowandwhy.com It's a strictly educational/tutorial resource site that explains the natural world and technological world in a conceptual and mathematical sense. Has some basic mathematical tutorials as well. Let me know what you think, and if you have any suggestions (or see any typos or content errors), please let me know here or on the forums over there. Thanks!

So looking for a new good one, anyone using windows XP attach your windows theme so others can download and see what it's like. To get your .theme file: On desktop right click and selet properties Go to the "Themes" tab It'll say "Theme: [name]" and there's a Save As button, so chose to save as and note where you are saving the file to. Go there and zip the file, or change the extension (see below) Upload it into a post (you have to be in advance post mode thingy) To import a new .theme file: Download the theme from here Unzip/rename and copy the .theme file to wherever you want …

Hi, I have been active on these forums for the past couple of weeks and I have learned a lot and I want to say Thank you. This probably has been brought up already, but I think it would nice to have a forum dedicated to nanotechnology. I think its an upcoming science that will affect the future lives of the young generation today (like me ) And with all the great minds of these forums I feel a lot can be learned in this area. Just a thought

A hacker sends not normal and illegal signals from satellites. People over the whole world blink with their eyes more then normal. You can study this on TV (Bloomberg, BBC, CNN or other TV-channels). It is very easy to see. Maybe it is less visible, but men have less soft movements then normal. This is also because of illegal and dangerous signals from satellites into the brains of human beings. It is very easy to see the increased eye blinking on people on television. Also the less soft movements on people (especially men) are very easy to observe and register. If you want to, or have to, you can compare old record/tapes of television or film…

My main question: I'm interested to know what types of energy ( electromagnetic / EM ) weapons exist or are feasibly and what their limitations are? *********** It's very difficult to find a concise run down of all the directed energy weapons. Specifically I'm interested in a weapon that would be capable of damaging soft tissue underneath the skin while leaving no or few marks ( no burns ) on the skin surface. Is that even possible? The only energy weapons I'm aware of that might be able to do this are microwave based. The problem is you'd need a large amount of energy to overcome the inverse square law. A laser would do damage to the surface o…

I am in the process of starting some new forums. These forums are in NO WAY competing or trying to compete with SFN. They are forums which cover science, and all other subjects (e.g, philosophy, visual and performing arts, entertainment and etc.) If you are interested in joining and helping with this project, read what it is all about @: http://www.InternationalDiscussionForums.net

  17. Has anyone ever worked or volunteered in a lab as a high school student? How did you go about getting yourself involved? Is this even possible? As someone who's looking to major in bio-something in college, I'm jumping at all the experience it's possible to get - both for the sake of experience itself and because it'd look awesome on application. Any input and/or advice would be greatly appreciated

Hello, I just bought a new PC. Hooray. I use Comcast broadband and read emails through Outlook Express. I want to be able to read my saved emails from this pc (my old one) on the new pc. However, I'm not finding the Outlook Express help menus to be of much use. These speak only of exporting the messages and address book to another Microsoft Program . . . not to another machine. Yet I'm sure this can be done . . . surely I don't have to forward all these emails to myself and then pick them up on the new PC? Help/guidance appreciated! Thanks, Ted

I just bought a green laser pointer on ebay for $58.00. It is a leadlight laser, with a wavelength of 532nm. Its hecka nice (hopefully). i was wondering if anyone here has a green laser. I heard there pretty sick compared to the red 632-650nm ones. There supposedly much brighter and there distance is incredible. people say there is a beam through the air in the dark, but i dont realy believe it. Maybe a very faint beam.

The latest report indicates that Rita (once a tropical storm) is now upgraded to a major category 3 hurricane. It’s headed toward the Gulf region just like Katrina did. They say it may it Texas, but Louisiana or even northern Mexico may also get hit. I wonder whether global warming has something to do with the increased frequency and intensity of recent storms.

Yep, figure this is general discussion, so let's make things unconventional. I have very thick and puffy hair on the top of my head. I use globs of hair gel just to keep it down. The thing is, I want to grow it out and braid it so I look cool. However, I don't want to keep using globs of hair gel over and over. I also figure that if I get my hair leveled out i won't be able to braid it as much, or if I choose to, dreadlock it. What should I do?
