If you havn't read any of my previous posts I own giant african land snails. I have a large tank with plenty of burrowing substrate, and have found the snails more 'happy' if cleaning is left to a minimum, and so providing plenty of nutrients for the snails to feed on...they're not fussy as long as there is no advanced (I'm not a biologist) fungi. Basically fluffy food is a no no. The problem is, over the last couple of weeks they've been breeding, I noticed the circular dance but, due to ignoring the maintenance of the tank (and also due to african snails burying their eggs) I now have over seventy...impossible to release, and not generally popular pets on my hands. …

I was reading over a entry on a website my friend sent me to and it said that quote " Fiction: in the movie, when they o'connor family tries to make a get away in their airship, they turn on the rocket attached to the basket they were on and gets away Fact: aside from the fact that it would be almost impossible to get rockets in the 1930s, if the rockets where actually turned on, since the ropes attached to the ballon is flexible, they would start to spin in a circle instead of moving foward." end quote. can this actually happen?? i'm abit skeptical the link is here http://www.merdz.com/comments.asp?v=0&id=71

I wouldnt say that it's an MMORPG (Massively Mulitplayer Online Role Play Game) just yet, because it's still being developed, but to me, that's one of the greatest parts, because you have a chance to play a part in the development of the game, and help shape it into a better game for everyone. The name of the game is Galactic Horde (...not the best title if you ask me...) and it's developed primarily by Melodank Productions (who also produce at least one band: Coriander) On the Homepage (http://www.galactic-horde.com/) there are links pertaining to the backstory of GH and the manual, which is very useful to new members. There are forums along with the game, to gi…

Well, I've managed to figure out why SFN is down, with a bit of WHOIS fun. I did a WHOIS search on SFN and found the original IP of it, after realizing the main problem was that the URL wasn't resolving to an IP. This brought me to a blank page. Knowing that most webhosts have the actual URL at http://ipaddress/~user, I tried a few usernames until I found the right one. Now I got the forums. Of course, there were no images (the images were all linked to scienceforums.net, which timed out) and I couldn't log in (the form action lead to the nonfunctional domain name as well). So I copied the login page source to my computer, modified the form action= statement, and …

our refrigerator/freezer combo has a busted compressor unit. the fridge part is doing fine, the freezer is a lot warmer than it should be. still cold enough to make ice cubes, but just barely. keeping the freezer running is a huge energy drain because the broken compressor is working constantly to try to cool it off. we have a freezer in the garage we can move the stuff over to so my mom wants to know if there is some disadvantage to having the freezer portion turned off and the fridge still on. i think shes worried about it no being insulated enough between the two so the freezer will be leaching the cold out of the fridge or something like that. any problems you guy…

Good and Evil as POVs I'm Penumbra... And I need help. I'm out of evidence! He's even starting to make me believe his point of view! Apparently, he is a much better debater than I... I do not want this thread to turn into a debate; if you want to share your views, do it on the other forum. However, I am interested if you have any pointers about what I did wrong.

See here http://web3.mychannel.com.tw/channel/class/show_preview.php3/?d=2005-04-30&enname=nikita&t=.htm&fn=main&view=1 A scientist who studies at Massachuset who is also a genetic maniac claimed that the people who live in current life have chance to live up to 1000 years on their life-span. Do you know whom I am referring to? This scientist is 41 old. And he said he found 7 reasons that cause aging. Oh, by the way, he is a British man.

i always wanted to ask other fellow science enthusiasts. -what is it about science that you love so much? is there a particular reason why you're in science scene? -are there any science-related lingos that you use out of context in everyday language? for example i sometimes use alot of words that came from or most often used in technology sector in my everyday language such as 'buffer'. your own example?

I really support stem-cell research. With the research tremendously and progressively going on, we might find a way to revert human aging. And I don't know why are people against embryonic stem-cell research? That's the only way we can find a youth fountain. By the way, who have been closely contacting stem-cell researching facility? Did you apply to the usage of the nutrition of stem-cell? I heard Russia people are crazily fond of stem-cell cure, right?

Ladbrokes teamed up with New Scientist to set odds on the chances of scientists making one of five remarkable discoveries by 2010. 1) Inteligent life on Titan: 10,000 - 1 I reckon: No way! 2) Higgs Boson: Started at: 6 - 1 Closing at: 2 - 1 I reckon: Worth a try. 3) Fusion Power: (must produce more energy than it consumes) Starting at: 100 - 1 Closing: 20 - 1 I reckon: No way! 4) Origin of Cosmic Rays: (prove where these high-energy particles come from) Starting at: 4 - 1 Closing: 3 - 1 I reckon: Unlikely. 5) Detect Gravitational Waves: Starting at: 500 - 1 Closing: 2 - 1 I reckon: Go for it, most likely. Notice how all but #1 had …

im curious if any of you know where i can get a little box that plays a laugh track when you push a button, or if it even exists. i have this friend who has the dumbest, but most entertaining sense of humor ever. we were sitting at a gas station and my brother pointed to some girls in a car stopped at the light and said "jesse! go hit on em!" and he ran out to the light, and tapped on their window. when they rolled it down he said something along the lines of "you come here often?" so i want to give a him a laugh track either for his 21st birthday (in like a week) or for xmas if i cant get it on time. anyone have any ideas?

i got up in the morning and my mother decided to start my day off by informing me that i get to go crawling around under the house. several rooms smelled like a rotting carcass. after much exploration in the crawl space and a little testing to see when we could and couldnt smell it we decided that the dead thing must be in the heating system. we cant smell it under the house, we cant smell it when we tape off the vents, otherwise it reeks like all hell. so now i have a couple questions. my mother seems inclined to leave our vents taped up and wait for the thing to decompose and pass out of the stink phase of its rotting. i think this is a bad idea for a couple reasons…

I have seen many here looking for papers or, in general, scientifical documents and informations. A huge amount of full-text high quality free scientific documents can be found in the Open Archives. For exemple, here you can found nearly a million of documents, and share your own within the scientific community: http://www.digitalexandria.com. In there you can also find tools to build institutional OAI archives. But if you browse the web you can find a great number of such sites.

Theoretically, if we beam enough electrons to the moon, we can make the moon accelerating to Earth. The attraction force between the positive charged Earth and the negative charged moon causes the acceleration. As the moon pulled closer, it will circle the Earth faster in smaller orbit. At some point maybe we can make the moon a geostationary satellite, then we can build a moon bridge to the moon. Could someone please calculate this idea, appreciate!

TerraServer at http://www.terraserver.com is a service that provides online imagery. They are a very popular web site, and they started in 1997. Microsoft opened a web site in 1998 at http://www.terraserverusa.com and it seems to provide a similar service. On this web site, it says: I can't find any information about Microsoft at http://www.terraserver.com. So, isn't Microsoft breaking the copyrights of http://www.terraserver.com by claiming that they own the service?
