Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.

Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

Hallo People. I am new here. I am only a Photographer from Brazil, that live today in Germany. I love the light and all discussions about its physics. I wake up at 25.03.2009 with a thought: - In Einstein Physics, as fast as you travel, as slow the time will be. - If that is true, at the speed of the light, the time has stopped. - If that is true, as the light travel at C (300.000Km/s), the time had stopped, at the point of view of the light. The light doesn’t get old. - If that is true, the light, which I see in the sky, is not the past of a star, but the star right now. - If that is true, the universe does not accelerate the expansion, inst…

Recently I became very interested about philosophical and science deep matters (I wish I didn't, but there is no turning back), anyway, now I'm reading a book written by Stephen Jay Gould about evolution of species, and uses something he calls, the Time Tape. The mental experiment is this way, assuming that you can rewind and fast forward time. If you went back to the first steps of life, and press play, would the human being appear? He claims that maybe not, because it's quite possible that evolution was a random process. But know I think about randomness, looking at it from my perspective (I am a computer enginereen student), as far as I know, a computational de…

Having given some thought to the overheating of the planet effecting the spacetime continuim , i think the spacetime coordinate system may have to be reevaluated somewhat (discuss), however as the problems associated with time travel rely heavily on knowing were we are in the present , using this term loosely and only basing it on our dimensional concept of time . The mapping of time may indeed rely on other factors namely that time is being created and exists in time waves , havig said this we must also consider time decay as in the doppler graphical representation and the doppler effect itself . The existence of a spacetime coordinate for accurate time travel is ne…

  5. When we design, create, build or arrange objects, the most basic, fundamental shape we use is the right angle and its progeny: the rectangle, square, cube and cuboid. Here's the modern city of Johannesburg, beside the city of Kahun, near Giza in Egypt, built 5,000 years ago: Both built on right angle grids. Here's some game boards: chess, tic-tac-toe, sudoku, a crossword, scrabble: all played on square grids. The screen you're viewing this post on, all the windows it contains, the menus, the icon, character, button and picture spaces, and the pixels themselves ... are, from a visual standpoint, all designed with the right angle as the most …

Sacred Geometry is the belief that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportion are also found in music, light, cosmology. And if you supposedly place some sacred G under your bed or on your wall that it will bring a sort of "cosmic relief" to a troubled life! I personally am going to turn this into a little expirement because i am in a rut as of now and i am going to put this sacred G inot action wish me luck! Anyways any thoughts on this??? 7. While i was at work at the IRS i was sitting at my desk doing nothing but staring at the flashing cursor for an hour. Well being bored i began blinking in sync with the cursor, that was flashing green and white, well i noticed that, not suprisingly when i closed my eyes a split second before the cursor changed to green and opened them for a brief moment then closed them again, like that in sync with the flashing that the color of the cursor appeared a solid color. Then i had a thought, maybe, what people percieve as ghosts or having telekenetic power or esp is nothing more than their minds somehow shorting out and getting "out of sync" with our normal three dimensiona…

  9. The soul, ego, independent consciousness is a central tenet of most religions. However, Science cannot allow for the belief of an independent consciousness that survives death. If I am correct, the scientific method depends on the senses as the only source of reality. However, to maintain some sense of balance, I think that it is only fair to allow people who are believers in a soul to come up with an experiment. I can only come up with one, as follows, which is a safer alternative to killing the experimental subject: A person, or people, who claim that their consciousness can leave their bodies during sleep, an maintain some vision or hearing, are safely lock…

I think we can express the four space/time dimensions as motion in four directions. 0 dimensions = point. It has no direction, so no dimension. 1 dimension = line. The distance required a moment to exist and it has length. The expanding line has movement in two directions. We can call these directions (dimensions) length and time. 2 dimension = triangle. The corners move outward in three directions (dimensions). Length, time and width. 3 dimension = tetrahedron. the four vertisies move in different directions to create the expanding tetrahedron. The directions (dimensions) are length, time, width and height. So movement in at least four directions is r…

  16. The electronic structure went astray when everyone hopped on the Bohr bandwagon. Electrons are NOT likely to form spheres and xyz orbitals around a nucleus. Indeed, orthogonality is only applied within each level when it should be applied to all levels. Thus, the current model has lots of interpenetrating orbitals - why don't e's bump into one another? Why aren't the orbitals repulsing one another in the overlap regions? Scientists had a chance to select the correct "aerospace" model when they found it necessary to “hybridize” their orbital network to actually explain even simple molecules. They chose, however, to go their merry way and ignore the fact that their base mod…

I have been defining the primary origin in relation the founding structure of perception, as we witness an observer effect. We represent a singular origin with a blank page and the point thereon, and primary origin is merely a comparison between that which has no relative and that which is irrelevent. It could be either, there are no differentiating qualities, so by contrasting the possible undefinable states we represent singularity as a demonstration of opposites, is and isn't perhaps. I find accurate notions of an origin pertain to having 1 discernable element, we say location because two things can't occupy the same space. So the primary origin consists of…

For some years I have been advocating a classical explanation of particle and atomic structure. This has been rejected by those who believe that only Quantum Theory should be used for particle physics. This article shows how the table on: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32854 (structural Fractions) combined with method used to create a table of elements on: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38485 (table of elements) and the explanation of particle structure given on: http://69.5.17.59/clf8.pdf (CLF model) can be combined to explain the difference between atomic radii predicted by QT and classical atomic radii found by the inter…

Kyrisch I think you are on the right track - ALL things have a potential to be True, False or Neutral simultaneously. 2 + 2 = 4 But divide 4 by 3 and you get 1.3333333 remaining not 1 Divide 3 by 2 and you get renmaining 1.5 not 1 Note how the remainder of these numbers are > 1 Haven't got time to discuss now but 1 is never actually 1 exactly so 2 + 2 = NOT EXACTLY 4 (TRUE)

After reading a whole bunch of literature regarding extraterrestrial civilizations and the Fermi Paradox, it has me wondering about a lot of things. Well, the first reaction is, what the hell?! For one, it is reasonable to believe that there should be a huge number of advanced civilizations out there even if the Rare Earth hypothesis is true just simply because of the sheer size of the Universe. But on the other hand, we have not have any success in making contact, or even detecting a single one, and there is no reliable evidence that some form of extraterrestrial intelligence has ever visited Earth. It should be no surprise that SETI hasn't detected anythi…

Anyone know of any other theories besides evolution and creationism? Im looking for a theory that unifies creation of life and the laws of physics. I find it odd in the world of physics there is a very thin line for an experiment to work or the laws of physics to work, yet in evolution there is a lot of play i.e. mutation -> new being .

According to many theories (including string theory i believe) there is a type of multiverse which contains many many other universes. In my understanding, the laws of physics apply only inside a given universe. With that what can we say about the physics in the multiverse? might these multiverse physics allow for multiple multiverses? discuss.

I'm looking for an explanation of what four dimentional space-time means in terms of understanding the nature of time. Admittedly, I cannot really conceive of what a four dimenional structure would look like. I've heard all the analogies of imagining a two dimensional space with time as the third dimension, so I'm not looking for anything like that. Calling time a fourth dimension and weaving a "fabric" of space-time seems to give time some spatial qualities that I'm having trouble reconciling. If all points in a 1 dimensional line are present within a 2 dimensional plane, all ponts on a 2 dimensional plane are present within a 3 dimensional cube, all points in a 3 dime…
