Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

I have been defining the primary origin in relation the founding structure of perception, as we witness an observer effect. We represent a singular origin with a blank page and the point thereon, and primary origin is merely a comparison between that which has no relative and that which is irrelevent. It could be either, there are no differentiating qualities, so by contrasting the possible undefinable states we represent singularity as a demonstration of opposites, is and isn't perhaps. I find accurate notions of an origin pertain to having 1 discernable element, we say location because two things can't occupy the same space. So the primary origin consists of…

For some years I have been advocating a classical explanation of particle and atomic structure. This has been rejected by those who believe that only Quantum Theory should be used for particle physics. This article shows how the table on: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=32854 (structural Fractions) combined with method used to create a table of elements on: http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=38485 (table of elements) and the explanation of particle structure given on: http://69.5.17.59/clf8.pdf (CLF model) can be combined to explain the difference between atomic radii predicted by QT and classical atomic radii found by the inter…

Actually I was wondering if anyone could explain what this guy is talking about? He says matter is a wave in aether. http://glafreniere.com/matter.htm " The material Universe is solely made out of Aether "

Kyrisch I think you are on the right track - ALL things have a potential to be True, False or Neutral simultaneously. 2 + 2 = 4 But divide 4 by 3 and you get 1.3333333 remaining not 1 Divide 3 by 2 and you get renmaining 1.5 not 1 Note how the remainder of these numbers are > 1 Haven't got time to discuss now but 1 is never actually 1 exactly so 2 + 2 = NOT EXACTLY 4 (TRUE)

After reading a whole bunch of literature regarding extraterrestrial civilizations and the Fermi Paradox, it has me wondering about a lot of things. Well, the first reaction is, what the hell?! For one, it is reasonable to believe that there should be a huge number of advanced civilizations out there even if the Rare Earth hypothesis is true just simply because of the sheer size of the Universe. But on the other hand, we have not have any success in making contact, or even detecting a single one, and there is no reliable evidence that some form of extraterrestrial intelligence has ever visited Earth. It should be no surprise that SETI hasn't detected anythi…

Anyone know of any other theories besides evolution and creationism? Im looking for a theory that unifies creation of life and the laws of physics. I find it odd in the world of physics there is a very thin line for an experiment to work or the laws of physics to work, yet in evolution there is a lot of play i.e. mutation -> new being .

According to many theories (including string theory i believe) there is a type of multiverse which contains many many other universes. In my understanding, the laws of physics apply only inside a given universe. With that what can we say about the physics in the multiverse? might these multiverse physics allow for multiple multiverses? discuss.

I believe that they are fake and it is a bunch of bs. But I saw on the discovery channel a lot of ghosts story. Are these stories just made up for viewers? Well, there is a new movie the haunting is CT. http://movies.yahoo.com/news/movies.ap.org/horror-film-draws-unwanted-visitors-conn-house-ap Ed and Lorraine Warren, the researchers became famous for their discovery. People actually believe this?

I'm looking for an explanation of what four dimentional space-time means in terms of understanding the nature of time. Admittedly, I cannot really conceive of what a four dimenional structure would look like. I've heard all the analogies of imagining a two dimensional space with time as the third dimension, so I'm not looking for anything like that. Calling time a fourth dimension and weaving a "fabric" of space-time seems to give time some spatial qualities that I'm having trouble reconciling. If all points in a 1 dimensional line are present within a 2 dimensional plane, all ponts on a 2 dimensional plane are present within a 3 dimensional cube, all points in a 3 dime…

I'm not very knowledgable on neuroscience but from what I've gathered there are 4 main categories of brainwave frequencies which dominate the brain of the average man. 1.) Beta waves - Predominant when the mind is most active and busy. Good mindset for multitasking and quick thinking 2.) Alpha waves - Predominant when the person is calm and relaxed or in a meditative state. Good state for learning, reading, coming up with ideas and creative tasks such as painting 3.) Theta - Supposedly these brainwaves or dominant in the brain of someone who's dreaming or else on the verge of sleep. Also dominant in people under hypnotic trance 4.) Delta - Dominant in the brain of so…

there is this wide pervasive thinking that time, in and of its self , has some real physical essence to it inotherwords time has influence on the movement of objects is this true ?

Sorry, have an idea eating away at my head and have to post it. So if thermodynamics, or energy flows from states of high to low or what not, does this count down on the quantum scale? I know I have posted this question here before but I am still not in an academic position to work on such yet. So with that in hand bear with me. Ok, so energy or what not flows from high to low, and in-between for it to exist, or satisfy conservation laws, would that not in its own right give probability for some kind of order and time? This is where einselection and decoherence bugger me so much, more so in regards to chemical systems. For instance the earth is in a process of g…

relativity says that all objects consider themselves to be at rest and no experiment that they can perform can indicate otherwise. but if space and time are quantized then a moving particle should 'see' spacetime differently than a stationary one. imagine walking past a picket fence with evenly spaced pickets while a strobe flashes at exactly the same rate that the pickets are passing you. you would see the pickets as being stationary. now imagine that space and time are quantized into discrete units (arranged in a grid). if the minimum nonzero velocity (along one axis of the grid) for any object is one space quantum per one time quantum and all velocities are integ…

Thief here... Before this thread dies.... I saw the note early on in this thread. I was disappointed to see it was all but ignored. Time does not exist. It is not a force...such as gravity. It is a form of measurement....a cognitive construct....created in the mind of man...a cognitive tool...to serve man. Numbers go the same way. Numbers are cognitive tools...which we use to examine our 'realities'. Take away the numbers....take away the clocks....nothing stops.

http://www.steorn.com All seemed dead a year ago when everyone even people who previously supported them were saying they were a scam. But yet today with various activity including a new video on there site and yet another thing to sign up for, they still seem to be going. What makes it all so bizare is that various companies invested a lot of money in the idea and there is an air of seriousness about it all and was right from the start, talks at universities and the such. http://windsolair.blogspot.com/2009/04/steorn-at-standstill.html I can't see that Steorn could possibly get away with this being fake, investors would eventually take legal action and I can't …

I sometimes fell about the uncomfortable thought that since blood groups appeared, that statistics could show a link between blood and wealth or mentality. Suppose this were in some sense right, and that a couple forms, in which a partner had a "stronger" blood, that the other would be beaten, in some sense. Or that for example depending on the blood distribution in a family, the oedipus complex could be increased or decreased. Do you have any idea about this.

In all honesty, I'm not really sure why I'm even making this post, as it is of direct relevance, however, I don't understand, what with the tedious clarifications of what science is, in the pseudoscience and speculations section, what is the point of the pseudoscience and speculation forum. Surely, any reasonable, and reputable speculations can be placed in their designated area, and if not, they can be placed in general sciences. Why, by creating the pseudoscience and speculation forum, isolate and encourage these kinds of thought, sharing propaganda myths, and conspiracy theories, unless you expect to attempt to enlighten the ignorant. Or is it rather some kind of isola…

Many of you may not like my question because there is no definitive answer. is our consciousness simply the result of a network of neural circuits? or could it be a electro-magnetic energy "in-phase" with this space-time dimension. even still, could the brains impulses be generating that energy? or are the impulses a result of extra-dimensional em stimulation. Physicist's have already observed particles "popping" in and out of existence. apparently phasing to another dimension. so does the act of a particle in the brain coming back cause a chain of neural networks to fire? could this explain spontaneous human combustion? Hallucinations? even the visions that psychic…

It seems to me that the problem of a clean, free abundant energy supply was solved by Nikola Tesla. He also invented the first Anti-Gravity vehicle. This has also since been done by John.R.R.Searl. They have both been supressed by the powers with alterior motives, namely "The rout of all evil", money! I personaly think that the only way to beat the oil cartels and the energy cartels who are working with unlimited amounts of power and money to keep this information out of the public domain is by getting the word out at a grass rout level and working form a place where they have no controll. Places like the pub, the work place and the internet and all the other for…

I believe Bigfoot exists for the following reasons: 1)There have been sighting reports by European settlers dating back to 1785 & I fail to see why, or even how, someone could come up with such a creature before the discovery of the Gorilla. 2)There have been at least 20 hair samples found that, after much analysis (Years in some cases) & compaeison to hair samples of known animals, have defied identification by Biologist Dr. Henner H. Fahrenbach. These are hairs found in the vicinity of reported sightings & discoveries of alleged Bigfoot tracks. Dr. Fahrenbach has determined these hairs to be primate & always absent of a medulla. 3)There are also sc…

Ok lets consider this, Suppose we establish contact with a nearby alien society and send them some everyday objects from earth among which is an elastic band. So they play with this and slowly stretch it taking readings of length, after a while they get bored, look at the data and decide that this elastic band could be stretched forever but they don't have the time to put this to the test so they mark rubber as infinitely strechable. What the hell has this got to do with the size of the universe I hear you ask well not a lot except that we seem to be applying this form of logic to where we think the universe is going. I'll explain, the data we have that su…

I post in "Pseudoscience and Speculations", since if the answer to my question is "no", then my speculations become wild. My question: Are we positive that the 26 myr precessionary cycle plots as a circle and not half of a 52 myr figure eight? Should it be a figure eight, "up" has become "down" from at least one perspective and the wild speculation about how far this goes begins. Thank you for your consideration.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_S1ZiNCz6CA The people at Hado.Net have explained, IN THIS VIDEO, the approach taken to get photographs of the beautiful water crystals that Masaru Emoto uses in his books, "Hidden Messages in Water" and other publications. In this video, the chief researcher is shown collecting a water sample from a very beautiful location in Japan. He takes it back to the lab, and divides the sample into 50 petri dishes. The amount of water in each petri dish is 1 ml. He then freezes the lot for 3 hours at (minus) -25 deg. C (-13 deg. F). He then takes out one of the fifty petri dishes at a time, and places it under a microscope. The microscope lab …

This quote comes from the Blue Brain Project, which intends to use the world’s 9th most powerful supercomputer to create the most realistic, cellular level model of the neocortical column to date. Daniel Dennett, one of the pre-eminent thinkers on consciousness, reckons that consciousness must come about through a cumulative, distributed effect. Imagine a thriving society of pattern analyzers who like to communicate with each other by posting little bits of “thoughtstuff” (phenomenological objects, or “phenoms” to the Dennett-initiated) on a sort of community bulletin board, which all the other pattern analyzers can read and respond to. All the pattern analyzers choos…
