Hello, I am a new member as of today. Although I have no degree I live and breath science in several forms. Some of you know me on the net as (Cracker) I run a science supply store, and I wanted to know if any sales ad is allowed here. I have so much to offer a serious science conasure. I also am active in some areas of its community and would like to be a part of the forum here. I am not complaining or anything but sometimes it stops me after voting up so many times. Is that normal? Like is there a limit to how many people you can up in a day?

I have been less active on ScienceForums lately because I have been writing a book. It's called Einstein Relatively Simple: Our Universe Revealed in Everyday Language. The book is based on courses I teach at Lifelong Learning Institutes at several universities here in South Florida. The book is now published by World Scientific Publishing and available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. I think the book would be helpful to a number of forum members in explaining the basics of special and general relativity. I want to understand the following terms 1. Local password 2. Current password 3. Display name. I also want to know how to go about it should I decide to change my username.

The one that says atom, molecule, organism. It would be cool if we had other variations to choose from. A physics one, for the physicists to recognize each-other, maybe have equations written out and more complex ones for larger milestone posts. A chemistry one, have compounds getting more and more complex. You get the point. I think it would be cool, what do ya'll think?

The staff has been discussing the uptick in posts that are simply video links, and whether something should be done about this. This is a discussion site, so one of the questions is whether videos actually promote discussion or inhibit it. Is there a difference between videos that start a thread vs ones given in response? Getting the view of the rest of people who view the threads would be useful. My view: I'm not a big fan. A video doesn't afford the opportunity to give it a quick scan to see if is worthy of your attention — the time investment is much greater. Hi, Is it possible for me to edit a topic that I created if I wish to rephrase my question? Is it possible to delete the topic so that I may just make a new one? The only reason is because I don't want to flood the forum with multiple threads of the same topic only slightly rephrased. So, I took a look at the rule: Now, I remember posting something to the news section about an article and I put the article inside a quote box with citations. However, it was taken down because of this rule. Can anyone clarify what occurred? Must if be paraphrased even when cited?

I posted a link to BBC i player Perimeter Institute in Canada interesting findings on the birth of the Universe. This was a Broadcast on BBC 4 tv last night 3/3/2014 available for all as its an already broadcast Documentary. I posted it to the astronomy section because the content was about astronomy and cosmology. I also posted it to science news. As it was Very advanced Scientific thinkers . I think people should be quizzed on the rules when they register. This would make sure that they have read the rules instead of skipping over them. What do you think?

There are just a few android applications for science , why? Can you not make one for this forum ? Why there are just a few android application for students and scientists on Google Play . I found just one really good one : "University Research News" and "Medical Research" .
