Do programs such as the plug-ins offered here: http://www.wmplugins.com actually boost audio performance in windows media player (WMP)? I mean, WMP has it all built in... click view>enhancements>show enhancements and you can edit TruBass, WOW effect, crossfading, auto volume level, you've got a grahics equaliser, balance and speed settings (you can play songs up to 1/2 or 2x normal speed!) as well as alter the difference between loud and soft music. [i'm using WMP v10.00.00.3646 just in case you wondered] Do these plug-ins (which you normally have to pay for) really do more than these in built enhancements and if so, why couldn't MS build it into WMP in …

Out of curiosity, what are some high-level programming languages out there? It's been a few years since I heard of any. C++ and simmilar is all I know about. Are there any higher-level/easier languages? I'm asking more out of "what makes a high-level" than anything else. I remember C++ because when I was learning it there were many libraries being standardized to make it behave at a higher level. Any ideas?

is my understanding of dlls correct? (note - my grasp of programing is a tad basic to say the least, the examples of coding that i give are written in strangebasic and may need to be parsed into an actual programing language within your head) basically, rather than, say, MSword having something to the effect of if font = arial, gosub arial and ARIAL {programing to display arial font} buried somewhere within its programming so that it can display arial fonts, it will instead have something along the lines of if font = arial, run arial.dll {tell arial.dll what words have been input} and arial.dll will bascally consist of {programing to…

Recently purchased some. Windows however does not seem to recognise that they are what they are, it says that the disk capacity is 702mb and WMP still says, in burning mode only 80 mins free, anybody else had the same problem?

I have this class entitled Cube and it extends JButton, but being new to programming, especially OOP, when I declare a Cube, how would I go about displaying a JButton, with the text/caption and all? Should I put anything special in the constructor? In the object class: public class Cube extends JButton { ... } In the client: Cube cube1 = new Cube(); I have used JButton's alot but have never extended them, and then tried to declare one. Greatly Appreciated, ^fo

Hello, for some reason, all but a couple of my system tray icons have disappeared- including the volume control. They are not simply hidden- they are completely gone. The programs still load when I start windows, but the icons just do not show up in the tray. I have done both spyware and virus scans and come up clean. The icons return if I log off and then log back on. Is there any way to fix this? Thank you.

Now, I don't want to start a religious war here or anything, but which one is better, AMD or Intel? Base it on proven fact, not speculation or brand name. If it makes any difference, I am asking because I would like to build my own PC and a small PDA / mp3 player / jack-of-all-trades thingy. For the former I need raw power, because size is not an issue. For the latter, I need something small, with a small power consumption, but still powerful. I would like both to be moderately cheap (under $100 if at all possible for the latter). Anyways, which one? P.S.: I did search for a thread on this, 'cause I thought there had to be one... If I missed it, all due apol…

How do i compress video that are already in WMA format? I have a 5MP digital camera that takes videos with sound and they end up being big for their length. I have the breakfast club on my computer, i went into propperties and clicked "compress" and all the thing did was turn its letteers blue. It remained at 4.8 gb. I dont realy even know what compressing a file is. I thought it was making the file smaller to save space. But now im thinking it might be its just doing something to it to make it........I dont know. Your responses will be appreciated.

I had to refromat my computer, and didnt want to reinstal real player because real player has always SUCKED for me. My friend gave me a link to quicktime and real player alternatives. I installed them both, and the quicktime one sucked and the real player one didnt even work. I could never delete the real alternative because (although i didnt think about this at the time) its process was running (realsched) (i think). I ended that process and deleted its program file. I tried to install real player and it did'nt work for beans. I dont know why it didnt work. I installed quicktime and i always thought it sucked, but as long as you go into msconfig and configuer it to not s…

I read an article where it is claimed that IBM MVS OS was 500 MB in size already in 1980. I also read how refined and powerful the OS has gotten over the decades, along with VM. So does this mean that the IBM OS is the rolls royce of Operating systems and will always be way ahead of all the other "toy" systems like windows, linux and unix ? After all, their mainframe OSes (VM, MVS) have been constantly under great research for over 40 years, so how can any other OS even match theirs ? of course they are very expensive but then again so is a rolls royce. I also see how crappy the toy OSs are even when they have 500 MB RAM! I read that some programs like kylix on linu…

I have an MSAccess table that looks like this: Table: MyThings ID Item TotalVotes Voters 1 Shoes 40 16 2 Coffee 4 2 3 Cat 20 5 4 Skirt 10 10 etc. I have intended the last two fields as a rating system that works like this: * Users select an item, and rate it between 1 and 5 * The users rating is added to the TotalVotes field, and the Voters field is incremented by 1. * Officially, the rating of an item is equal TotalVotes / Voters. According to my current database, Shoes have a rating of 2.5 (40 accumulated votes / 16 voters), Coffee has a rating of 2, Cats have a of 4, and Skirts are wildly unpopular with a…

would anyone be able to help me with some questions about two very short java classes? i have come up with some answers of my own, but yeah, i'm not sure how correct my answers are.... the 4 questions are: 1. The data attributes m, n and grid in the HeatGrid class are declared private, and methods such as gridHeight(), gridWidth() and copyGrid() are provided to extract their value. Why is the better class design than simply declaring those attributes as public? My answer: So other classes accessing them cannot modify those data atributes, i am not sure why this is better class design. 2. Why must the (global) constants in HeatSim.java be declared …

Is there any type of program, or any way to make a program, that will not allow IE to start opening while it's running? I have two pop-up blockers, which work well, but they're both after-the-fact. The pop-ups start to come, so while I'm playing a game, it minimizes to find a lack of a pop-up. My spyware program (Aluria--subscription based) works at finding spyware, but apparently it can't find the installers because there's generally a surge of new pop-ups after running it. Aside from removing IE completely (which I can't do because there are sites I go to that only work properly on IE and because I shouldn't mess with the files included with Windows) I haven't c…

I have recently fixed my wireless router and now have aquired a wireless adapter. The router is NetGear, though that is irrevelant. The adapter is a Motorola 802.11g Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter. It runs fine on Windows XP, and I have even picked up a couple other wireless networks in my neighborhood with it. But, on my Ubuntu HD, I have no internet. I did have to install drivers for it on my Windows HD, but I have always thought that Linux would automatically config it. Does anyone have a solution to this? Ubuntu recognizes the adapter and everything, but the link LED on the adapter only comes on when I am running Windows. Any ideas? And in response to the post on th…

In the past, I consulted you guy whether you had ideas on merging several pages in pdf into a page. I asked as I didn't want to waste paper when printing out my documents. Although an option is provided in MS word, pdf is more important to me and to everyone. Now, I find a powerful, free software to boost my study. IT is CutePDF Writer. I started a thread because I can't find out the last post. Hope you enjoy it!
