This has scientists baffled because is formed by giant super flares and is permanent since may 13 2013, violating all that is known about the sun.

The cross appeared on May 13 2013 with the biggest solar storm this year.

and also, i would try to research that nasa system shut down.

according to that space.com link, there source is,

" according to the Space Weather Prediction Center overseen by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. "

on that second video post, according to him the flare was away from earths path.
so maybe research nasa to see if there systems were shut down.

even then it's nothing new or not known about.
solar flares /cme has been known.

I talked to the Goddess the last time she was full but she is determined to take away the sun for a short time to demonstrate her power....

I traced the cross with some image software.

 

The top tracing connects the most visible sunspots. It's not very perpendicular, hence the title "Master Architect, Terrible Artist."

 

The bottom one traces through the outermost sunspots instead of the most visible ones. This makes it more perpendicular. However, if I were to trace between the innermost sunspots, it would be even less perpendicular than the top tracing. In addition, the arms extend much further than those of a typical cross.
