Men, listen closely: Watermelon has the same effect as Viagra.

Featured Replies

Now who of you just ran out to get some watermelon? Yes? Yes? show of hands?

Eating watermelon has a similar effect on the body to Viagra, according to researchers in the US.

It's down to a chemical called citrulline which is found in the juicy fruit.

...

Citrulline is an organic compound which affects the body's blood vessels in the same way as the sex enhancement pills.

Does that mean watermelon now has to come with the warning about effects lasting longer than 4 hours?

;)

Does filling the watermelon the day before with a bottle of vodka or grain alcohol enhance the effect, or does it simply make the female more likely to experience the Viagr-ic effect? :D

If you are asked, "Is that a watermelon in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me?" for more than 4 hours straight, see a doctor.

Yes but the little blue pill is much easier to swallow than a water melon!

The obvious question is: how much watermelon would one have to eat to have a comparable effect to, say, one viagra pill? I ask because I have eaten well over half a large watermelon (I was hot & thirsty!) and have never noticed any such effect. Then again, I've never taken viagra so I don't know what that effect is either.

I wondered how long that would take....

Hehehe. I'm waiting on a "that's what she said" joke. ;)

More propaganda from the watermelon lobby.

Does Viagra have warnings about erections lasting longer than four hours? Is there a medical problem with erections lasting a long time?

I don't know about medical problems, but apparently the medication isn't supposed to last that long. The 4-hour warning is from the television adverts; I don't know if the warning is on the bottle or not.

I didn't know that. 4 hours seems awfully short. Is there a restriction on how often you can take them? Can you take another one after four hours, to carry on where you left off, so to speak?

Any erection that lasts longer than four hours, regardless of cause, is called priapism. Among other things, it can lead to gangrene, and the only solution for that is amputation.

The TV ads for all of these products mention this problem because even if it occurs only rarely it is apparently perceived as a huge selling point.

Really!?

But isn't is fairly normal for sex to last over 4 hours?

Yes, it is, but don't worry, Severian... Your wife will be home soon enough and tell you all about the experience.

My wife can have sex with whomever she wants.

Now I know 2 kinds of melons that can help inflate my reproductive organ>:D.

Oh god. I'm already getting e-mails about "C|-|EEP waterm3l0n"

I gotta ask, does the key effect:

It helps relax the blood vessels which means blood gets around the body more easily.

Have other health benefits? I take ibuprofen for muscle tension and headaches, but can watermelon have other similar effects? If so, do people who take blood thinners need to worry about 'excessive watermelon consumption' or use it as a healthy alternative to ibuprofen?

While I celebrate the most obvious benefit of this finding, I am really curious about other potential uses.

Time dilation occurs, so the for the man, it is an arduous 4 hours, but for the woman it seems to pass in 4 minutes. There is also length contraction, but no need to go into detail here....
