  1. Philosophy is about judging things objectively, digging into ones soul and eliminating our 'humanity' and the biases within, in order to evaluate the information available; in many respects it demands even more rigor, than some scientists are prepaired to pay... 😣
  2. Great post +1, it reminds me of the vaccine argument; some science went wrong 'somehow' 'once upon a time' therefore we should suffer 'small pox' bc chicken pox isn't that bad... 🤒
  3. From a philosophical POV, it's your responsibility to transfer your understanding to other's via metaphor's and analogue's and etc. It's also your responsibility to defend your ideas, with arguments that are understood by your interlocutor; not just demands of correctness because you thought it. It's a difficult skill to acquire, hence the very small number of notable exponents at the highest level of talent... 😉
  4. What you lack is the proficiency for making other's believe what you do... OTOH Einstein was very good at explaining his idea to virtual idiots...
  5. What makes you think that's relevant? IOW you can rationalise an illogical argument, but it can only be an excuse...
  6. Do you think ChatGPT understands the truth of humanity more than that of an ant? What is it that you know/understand with more certainty than an ant knows about being an ant? IOW, An AGI can have knowledge of every single action you make; but it will never understand what it feels like to be you, when you're having a wank... 😇
  7. Well-being, is a method of accepting one's knowledge isn't enough to be useful; it's up to you to decide what you do with that knowledge...
  8. You don't seem to understand the part knowledge plays in our understanding of the real world; metaphor is an artificial link between knowledge and understanding, it's usefulness is in order to teach those that don't understand why the knowledgeable aren't happier with what they understand...
  9. How exactly does this further our understanding of the human mind, let alone how this relates to the mind of an ant verses a whale; your mass/talent indicator suggests a whale would dominate a human in a game of metaphorical chess.
  10. What is empty is your cup of understanding; for instance the spiritual benefits of revenge is not about making others suffer in the physical world...
  11. The thing about a ghost is, it can't touch the real world; so what difference does it make? I just punched you in the face with my ghostly power; how did that feel?
  12. Bolded mine: It's not at the core of our understanding, but that doesn't mean real cognition can't be statistical in nature (Spock proves it); the interesting thing, for me, is how could one communicate with the other, in any meaningful way without a fundamental basis of experience, that would allow a metephor to transfer understanding, rather than just knowledge...
  13. That's how the system is broken, a guaranteed vote is like a blank cheque; easy to write and hard to cash...
  14. Of course, my bad... 🖖
  15. So, the answer to the OP is 1, wait, it could be 0, if we take the topic title literally; even if we include ghosts, it's still a 1 or a 0 naturally.
  16. This is where you need to be more specific, which ethical approach do you think we should use to avoid poisoning the well? And don't say all of them, bc that wouldn't be politically expedient... 😉
  17. Which is better with sound?
  18. Observed by what method? Did you see it, hear it or feel it in the groin?
  19. How would you ensure that the data is clean? When did Uncle Ben have great power? Prehaps he was just guessing that that was an appropriate aphorism, to appear wise... That seems rather sketchy too, it appears like you're demanding that something you like is given preference, in law, bc you like the idea...
  20. Indeed, Margaret Thatcher was more of a man, than Trump could ever cope with...
  21. Indeed, but I bet we pay way more to kill some of the rats, than we do to save all the endangered species; then there's the cockroach and all his/her buddies...
  22. That's admirable, but just remember that every criticism you receive is an 'opportunity' to take a step towards understanding the 'subject' you want to make an impact in... 😉 There are no shortcuts to understanding, google can help with well directed question's, but it can't understand things for you, or itself for that matter, the biggest problem AI has to overcome is rubbish in rubbish out.
