Bias in science (split from Evolution of religiosity)
Yes, but your not doing science, your doing you doing assumption, based on your inate sense of the obvious... 😉 You're not even doing it badly, science that is...

Asteroid defense ideas
I was going to say "it depends on whether we see it in time" but it really doesn't; why do I need to know? If we see it in time and can convince enough people of influence then perhaps 'we' can glory in 'our' victory; I haven't even got a backyard telescope, in order to be the plucky hero that tries to alert the authorities but is, either, snared by the red tape or dies trying. All I can do is vote angrily, when the fuckwits have screwed up our only chance... 😉

Bias in science (split from Evolution of religiosity)
The point is, scientist's as human beings are as prone to biases as anyone else; however science is different to the bible, in that, when it's done properly it essentially removes the chance of bias effecting the results, our thinking on the output is still subject to human bias, but that is reduced to a minimum bc of the peer review process.

Bias in science (split from Evolution of religiosity)
If I value something that is bound to increase, then that is pernicious and will always be true; if it's insidious then the value can only implode...

Your thoughts on Islam?
I know, it's like dad dancing; 'awkward' as funnybot explains...

Bias in science (split from Evolution of religiosity)
It's the same coin, it's only insidious bc of the pernicious nature of value...😉

What can and should be done to address the world overpopulation crisis?
This is imagration problem writ large "they took our job's" . The otherside of that coin is, not enough people were clever enough to solve the problem... Well, that's karma for you... 🙄 Something trolls know very little about,,,

Evolution of religiosity
As @iNow point's this is two different questions: 1/ The advantage of God's starts by trying to teach children the advantages of not taking more than they need, for instance, we need to chop down tree's to build our home's so we create a God of the tree's that we thank for providing our home's, but will be angered if we take a tree that we don't need and will strike down in some way that is fearful; when we forget that lesson we get Easter Island 2/ The advantages of religiosity, started because someone has a good idea that makes sense (at the time) and works to make thing's better for most people, it spreads because of that and the powerful teaching tool that's God. The problem we have now is that we 'know' there's no god of the tree's, is the, so called, sofistication of the 'science' of politics; the Trump's of this world are very good at making a specious idea seem like it's good and it spreads through all the children that know there's no bogie man to make them think twice.

Is US higher education the best in the world?
Did you stop learning when your teacher stopped teaching? 3 thousand years of yesterday is but an excuse for tomorrow

Can you be a scientist and still believe in religion?
Indeed, but it could have set us back a few year's, if when the apple fell he said "therefore magic happens"... 🧐 I think you're thinking of Neitzche... 😉

Your thoughts on Islam?
Neither, A Single Death Is a Tragedy; A Million Deaths Is a Statistic, this statement isn't as harsh as it seems to be, whomsoever said it; we can't predict the action of a single human, but we can, with some precision, predict the actions of the average human; which is just as true today as when Assimov ventured his idea of psycohistory.

What's your worldview?
As it relates to the topic and my interlocutor @Moontanman this best describes the situation, My karma ran over your dogma. All I was trying to do is explain the value of acceptance in a balanced 'world view' and by extention a more philosophical approach to life. IOW my moment of awe (doesn't match other's), which for me happened when I said to my dog, who was obviously disapointed when we walked past the turning of her favorite route, "you wouldn't be so disapointed, if you didn't expect to go that way.". Unfortunately, I don't speak dog either... 😣 Apologies, it's a habit of mine to automatically add an at when referring to the members of our little club. 🙏

What's your worldview?
I'm happy to defend my supposed stupid, you just want to revel in it; but I can tolerate your version... I could be argueing in my spare time...😉

What's your worldview?
OK, I'll try again; oh what's the point... I won't get any farther than @Mordred did in the nuke discussion, your right because you say so. He didn't assert "that nukes are bad, mkay" and I didn't ask a question "mkay"... Your only making yourself look stupid...

What's your worldview?
Let's assume nothing, before we assume that god wrote the bible...

What's your worldview?
No, I made a statement that you failed to address; pedantry is but a parlour game in our quest for answers...😉
