  1. Really Luc? you're still making the same mistake, you're conflating 'all of science' with 'all of philosophy'; mostly because, you don't really understand either... @Luc Turpin dude you're bright enough to string out these topics beyond their natural death, I kinda admire that, but for the love of god try listening as well, after which I'd welcome your input...
  2. All I'm arguing is that we're all humans, each one of us is subject to hormones and other chemicals, none of which is in our control and we're taught according to the society in which were spawned. The dislocation of fairness from a witch hunt/mob rule, based on a rumour (or as seen on a screen from a parallax)...
  3. If you say so...
  4. which ones aren't?
  5. Of course not, they're reading their own version...
  6. I'm not using him as a direct meaning of my point; besides you don't seem to understand his point, and parallax is the word that links, most strongly, to my meaning. Every generation creates a different parallax, a different view of the text, the more generations the more obtuse the angle... It doesn't mean it's unreadable or un-understandable, but like everything that drives language and effective communication, it takes a relatable moment/experience for knowledge to be taught...
  7. Not at all, it takes a great deal of training and understanding to dislocate our emotional response from what we perceived to be fair, there in lies justice. Morality is what 'we' subjectively call fairness.
  8. Perhaps Will can explian my meaning: At least watch the first 5 minutes, but it's worth 50 minutes of anyone's time...
  9. We're emotional being's, so what, every choice is an emotional one.
  10. It suggests to me that I want to be liked and accepted, so I'm as nice as I know how to be; but if fear drives that choice, what's the difference?
  11. Indeed, but with the caveat that "Better education opportunities in modern times would reduce the gullibility factor necessary to invent supernatural beings." gambler's are often from the better educated (with their own god), who's decision's often force those less well educated to prey pray to the same god.
  12. Text is a particularly bad means of comunication, it's insidious, in that it both freezes meaning (left to be picked over by...) and is bereft of a complete set of data (with which to fully understand, let alone properly interpret; 'that' humans meaning...
  13. Whatever floats your boat, mate...
  14. If you believe that you're being watched in everything you do, you have two choices: Be seen to make the correct moral choice. Or Wear a mask. The choice 'we' make often depends on the information we trust, rather than the moral correctness; especially when that correctness would disadvantage 'us'...
  15. But that is my point, we can't directly translate however close the language seems to be, we have to interpret the meaning through the lense of human nature...
  16. Much like 'cold comfort farm' is the same as 'sense and sensibility'... you've missed the point...
  17. The contradictions come later, they all start off with a reasonable philosophical approach to a contented life, when the understanding of that philosophy is churned in the generational washing machine or the silver plate is polished of the base metal, it's very human to assume this generation is smarter than the last; their phone's couldn't leave the house... 🙄
  18. Double our efforts to do what? Read more?
  19. He also wrote: "If the literature we are reading does not wake us, why then do we read it?" Depends on who you read, Douglas Adams argued that the universe actively sought to prevent that... 😉
  20. Indeed +1 But it's also not the job of religion, religions only job is to provide a platfrom from which to be... Contentment, is the operative word and religions have far more to say on the subject....
  21. No it doesn't, it just doesn't invoke a god as punishment for those who stray from the prevailing moral attitude, instead it provides karma as a brake to the potential of humans towards nihilism. Besides, most religion's are just another philosophical POV.

What I find astonishing is people like you, you admit that he's lying to everyone but somehow he's not lying to you; talk about burying your head in the sand, at least an ostrich has the excuse of a brain the size of a pea... 🙄
  23. Who is this 'we' of which you speak? I have a smartphone and google is my friend, but I've no idea how it 'all' work's, I'm not part of the 'we' that created it; it's just part of the culture that I've grown up in. How does this knowledge base, increase our awareness of morality? You're conflating human nature with a particular culture, that's just politics. The problem with politics is, it can only improve at the speed of our slowest member...

Or possibly starred in the Netflix special...
