  1. We all live on a planet with unprepared people, who think money is "kinda neat" and decided health isn't quite as valuable.
  2. Time will tell, any number of things could lead to our downfall; even this post. But the probability that it's me vanishes, significantly, when one ponders "Maybe Trump's right..." I think you're confused.
  3. For once I'm glad to be a working class Brit with social issue's... 😊
  4. Culture is difficult to subvert, I guess that's why italy et al is ahead of the curve.
  5. I enjoy good banter, but that just seems like an insult (not a fan).
  6. That doesn't clear up anything. And that's just a headline... Reasonable preventitive measures are good enough (you must know them by now) to provide a break, even if the headlines are real; which, BTW, are more likely to demotivate the populous to adhere to "the reasonable preventitive measures" in favour of blind panic. Thanks for pointing it out. .. 🙄 The difference between fear and panic is a fine line to tread and headlines wear clown shoes.
  7. With a test we can be sure the horses are safe...
  8. Did not know that, it brings a new understanding to this:
  9. We won't know that moment and that's just part of the problem, because without a comprehensive local testing regime (rolled out globally), we may as well not bother testing.
  10. Now that you've summarised the reasons why this is a difficult question, perhaps you can jump off the fence and wade in with an answer.
  11. Indeed and long may it continue, I'm just concerned that our approach in this case, given our proclivity to panic and/or overreact, may lead to our downfall, given enough time and guess'
  12. Several dips into the lottery, doesn't raise the probability by much. Let's say it takes 36 months or 72, when does the bet lose money; even if you win?
  13. It does seem like we're making a rather large bet on a rather small probability...
  14. Thank you Eise, that's very constructive. I have always struggled in converting my ideas into an essay (if I'm honest a couple of paragraphs can sometimes be a challenge) so, like a blind person, I compensate with other abilities. You're never going to let that TLDR rest, are you... 😔
  15. None taken, though not everything in a discussion is a question. Resistance is futile...
  16. Whilst I understand that my posts are lacking intelligence on this issue (compared to you both); being ignored doesn't add to that intelligence...
  17. In the context of this particular analogy (off-topic jaunt) it doesn't suggest anything not least an argument for free will; either way. Most of our external forces are more of an influence. In a direct reply to the title of this thread: MEH... what can ya do?
  18. Seems to me that your friends are limiting the alcohol's ability to hurt you.
  19. I think it's safe to say, you'd be far far far less susceptible... None of the above... It's my (limited) understanding that blood has little to do with it, other than transport.
  20. It's that type of question that makes me wonder...
  21. dimreepr replied to iNow's topic in Politics
    Depends on the context...
  22. Sensei is undoubtably educated and intelligent and normally a measured poster, so the word hysteria seems valid, or maybe panic.
  23. The best way to deal with a new virus is to stop it at source, so the action of the authorities will automatically be disproportionate to the actual risk. That leads (in this case) to hysteria, mostly because it's dominated the news even though, in terms of population, it's only affected a handful of people; the worst thing we can do is (be hysterical) add to the hysteria, because that creates fear and fear is the mind killer. So if you want to help those poor people who are directly affected by this, take a step back, don't be afraid, and use the intelligence we all know you have.
