Should Homeless Addicts Be Removed From Cities?
Well, we do have centuries of practice. We rounded up black people from Africa for not meeting our personal biased standards. Nice cheap labor. Good for cotton profits. We rounded up Jews in Germany and surrounding countries for not meeting our personal biased standards. Nice easy scapegoats. Great way to bring people together… and gas them. We in the US seem to be similarly treating LGBTQ as somehow sub-human for not meeting our personal biased standards. The more we hate, the less we need to invest and grow. Yep, people struggling with addiction and unable to navigate the system for finding housing are the obvious next step, but really we should just save time and money and shoot them where they sleep. No need pussyfooting around it with complex filters like “rounding up” and forcing into “camps” involuntarily. That’s just for the weak willed who lack the courage of their convictions. These people are garbage. Time to throw them out. They’re stinking up the place like vermin, bringing disease and dragging us down, no better than parasites. … Do none of these points or obvious comparisons cause our OP pause? Did not this thread Godwin itself the moment it was submitted? Could’ve saved some bandwidth and time by just typing Sieg Heil instead.

Homophobia, nature or nurture?
You didn’t say you disliked penises being inserted into your own butt. You said you disliked the idea of others doing this. You’re saying I’ve misrepresented you? No. That is not an accurate representation of my position. It wasn’t my fashion analogy. I was replying to another poster who introduced it. Are others here persisting in outdated beliefs that feed oppression and ostracization and persecution? If so, I’ll push back on them, too. And I DID give a reason. The world would be better. Other posters even acknowledged this as a valid point, even if not sufficient for you personally. Maybe, indeed. I would never dig in my heels against the possibility of me being a better version of myself in the manner you have continued to do here. Good. Let’s end with that then.

Philosophical Implications Of Infinite Parallel Multiverses
There is no “actual present moment.” Comments like these implicitly suggest a preferred reference frame. It prioritizes your own experience over others. That’s a mistake in your approach

That part’s not altogether wrong. Dopamine

Homophobia, nature or nurture?
I firmly debunked your claim about me personally and in reply you have done the equivalent of patting me on the head and told me “bless your heart.” If you enjoy our repartee so much, then show some respect. Hopefully by now I’ve earned it. I didn’t completely forget a damned thing. You misspelled “when someone completely misrepresents you.” And I gave him credit and positive rep for even acknowledging he has these thoughts. Wish more people would question their own feelings on these topics But I am feeling kinda salty. I’ll stipulate that.

What is life? What is our goal?
Appreciate you so quickly confirming you're not worth my time. Cheers.

What is life? What is our goal?
That was not, however, the claim you made. The one I challenged. And which you refuse to support. Doing things to pump our own dopamine is not equivalent to: "and not just for themselves, but for everyone." Do you agree that claim is specious nonsense pulled out of your ass?

Should Homeless Addicts Be Removed From Cities?
Is this idea intended to be similar to the "fix rooms" Denmark tried, or similar policies out of Sweden?

Homophobia, nature or nurture?
Yep. If by “iNow is completely forgetting” you mean “already addressed this point more than once several times in this very thread.” If THAT’s what you mean then you are, of course, absolutely 100% correct. I first “completely forgot about it” 20 days ago: And then here again last week: And then here yet again more explicitly just yesterday: And: Sorry I’m so forgetful, though. That’s on me. I just can’t be trusted, obviously. Not engaging in good faith. Yep. That’s totally me. /sarcasm

Citation needed. Also needed: Clarity on how you’re measuring pleasure and pain and how you define “try.”

We’re Slow-walking Our Way to WWIII (Agree/Disagree)
In context of modern warfare, even "cold" wars are highly kinetic... cyber attacks, social wedge issues, meme deployment, these all play a critical role in how we view and engage with each other. I, for one, am kind of tired of meeting people who live in the same community as me thinking it's A-Okay and quite honky dory to see their neighbors as worthy of murder and slaughter merely bc they have different views on how tax dollars should be spent in schools, for example.

Homophobia, nature or nurture?
Correct, and neither are "fashion preferences." I never said they're the same. I said they're not altogether different in this regard: And nobody here is talking about your distaste of coconut. The better comparison would be if you found others enjoyment of coconut distasteful. It's obviously and self-evidently silly for any thinking human to do that (great! you like coconut, so what? not my cuppa tea, but you do you), so why pray tell would it be different for male gay sex that similarly has zero impact on you, your family, your health, your community, or anything else really? Sorry, what? Did we not already and repeatedly establish that your preferences are NOT genetic? I'll answer for you: Yes, we did repeatedly establish that. In this context, there are similarities. Nobody is arguing they are equivalent. Perhaps unintentionally, but you appear to be resorting to strawmen now to make your weak case. Precisely, and yet here we are 8-pages in with you continuing to defend persistence in your distaste instead of working to extinguish it. I'd be far more empathetic to this stance were we discussing something which brought harm to others, but since we're clearly not I find this to be little more than continued rationalization for holding on to outdated judgmental views. Not a huge fan of the subtle way you're trying to dismiss me as an activist, or some sort of extremist. Perhaps next you'll call me a social justice warrior, as if that's somehow a bad thing?

Not if you're in one of the schools or apartment buildings or historical sites across Ukraine being struck with Russian missiles like right now. Or if your mom and sister are being raped by their soldiers, etc.

Would prefer this type of thing not happen here, please. Is it possible you thought Zapatos was replying to your post immediately prior to his and that’s what triggered this counterpunch, bc it appears to me he was actually replying to my OP and it had nothing to do with you You let me help Migration to other countries after the massive earthquake disaster is likely to drive increases in right wing bile and fascism and various xenophobias. Russia and China and NK and Iran and Saudis and Qatar etc will all likely use their programming prowess to amplify that. At least the Israel government has been keeping things super chill. Oh… wait.

Homophobia, nature or nurture?
Rooting out the bad politics and laws would be far more fruitful still, and in my estimation that social movement which drives actual social change starts with each of never tiring from ridding these rotten turnips from as many potentially supportive heads as possible. The folks pushing these bad politics and bad laws and bad turnips into our schools and public spaces tend to be FAR louder than those who are against them / who support acceptance. It’s well passed time more of us speak up as gladiating counterweights. The problem is worsening globally, and that trend needs to end.

I suspect China is stepping in to deescalate. Xi meets with Putin. 2 days later, Russia pulls back and announces new Silk Road investments across the landmass. Xi takes his history of internal power displays and shows the world China is already stronger than US on the global stage. US couldn’t end Ukraine conflagration, but China could. Or not. Can anyone? I bet the West could invade and takeover North Korea and Iran, or India could invade Pakistan if they really wanted to.

Salt is yummy and helps us preserve scarce resources. Allowing vestiges of our learned past to cloud our judgements of persecuted others in the present isn’t so yummy. And it should be made scarcer as a general rule, IMO. +1 for acknowledging “of course it would be better” if we rid ourselves of such things. That’s undergirded my stance here throughout.- We’re Slow-walking Our Way to WWIII (Agree/Disagree)
We’re slow-walking our way to World War 3. Agree? Disagree? Why?- Homophobia, nature or nurture?
If you're critiquing the fashion of others, then it's not altogether different. You're saying "their choices" which have ZERO impact on you or your family are somehow not good enough. You're saying THEIR choices don't surpass YOUR personal threshold of acceptance... your subjective arbitrary criteria regarding what is acceptable... Your "social mores" or rules or norms regarding what is and is not allowed in your tribe or group or social unit. Who we love and become intimate with, however, seems far more central to who we are as humans IMO than specious concerns like "you shouldn't wear brown belts with black shoes." I think it does, yes. Perhaps it matters less than if you're vocal about it, but it matters more than zero. - Homophobia, nature or nurture?
