    He's selling a book
  2. It seems they are the same event / phenomenon being described, yes... During the period of delay, this is the activity taking place. One describes ANY activity in this time period, the other describes only those happening within that same time period, but without any inputs from outside
  3. Almost 4 pages in 24 hours. This one has a good pace! /metacommentary

Thank you for the helpful context and follow-up
  5. “Orion’s Belt is a big waist of space.” Terrible joke. Only three stars. 😂
  6. I love that y’all are still engaging this guy as if there’s ever been any semblance of good faith whatsoever in any of his posts. Hope springs eternal, I reckon.

What specifically did they say? How do they define “tracking?” Did it appear in radar logs only to be noticed retrospectively after the incident, or did intelligence groups alert the Pentagon the moment of launch? What evidence do they have to support any of this? Was the story framed more as a “what-if?” hypothetical, or something that really happened with time stamped communications to confirm? Apparently links and citations aren’t as common these days on this topic.

  10. Not today, it wasn’t. But then again even t’were it not, humans are often rather smart when small passionate groups get set on similar missions and thus we invented treadmills to cache strategically somewhere within our heated winter domiciles. I guess what I’m saying Grandpa is, fine. We all know you had to walk uphill to school both ways barefoot in the snow. We get it, so… Have a cuppa tea instead, then. Vino. Brew. Nobody cares. These are times for wines, not whines. Whiskeys not, shit… what the hell rhymes with whiskey? /rhetorical Problems are for solving. Or ignoring, I reckon. That can get you by in a pinch, but use sparingly.

This is getting out of hand… now they’re even pre-announcing them in New Mexico! https://balloonfiesta.com

It doesn’t, though. It’s NOT creative. It uses prediction engines to guess what comes next in a string of words. Why, indeed. Students NEVER wanted to do that. Now they have an even easier way around it than paying the nerdy immigrant kid who plays D&D to do it for them. Its time to find better ways of measuring pupil progress and capacity and potential. You call spending hours researching and writing papers “fun?”
  13. Nah, I think they’ll work it out! 😂 We’re all crusty and curmudgeonly lately after years of global trauma and social compartmentalization. Nothing that a brisk walk and some fresh air can’t resolve. Even better if done beside ones sparring partner.
  14. Y’all both must be feeling old today as grumpy as hell as you be acting. How bout you just GTF off each others lawn already and take a nap? This is pretty typical of how conversations re: Israel Palestine go. That’s part of the reason bad actors keep bringing the topic to the fore.

Yes. I forgot how many feet in a mile with that earlier set of posts. Resolution gooder closer. Resolution badder farther.
  17. iNow replied to toucana's topic in Politics
Distance to ground matters when taking pictures. Resolution is vastly superior at 100,000 feet up than it is at 2 miles up, for instance. Indeed. This, too. In truth, they’re still watching us right now today. Threads like this, what are people saying and speculating about. Which memes are rising to the top across social media platforms. What commentary is taking hold in chat rooms and engagement channels, which narratives are being pushed by influencers and aggregators. It really never ends.

We know this answer. The government DID keep it quiet. Until, that is, people started posting about it. Then they HAD to respond. But they knew it was there and had discussed it internally well before any of us knew. If only the public were this worried about TikTok, but that’s too hard to see and isn’t shiny like a big balloon.

Maybe bc the public could see it and start making a fuss about it Yet Also, +1 for actually explaining your stance. Appreciated

How so? Will you please be more explicit about what you’re insinuating? I don’t follow.
  22. Exactly! I wish my wife understood me as well as you do. Send nudes. /WhatHaveIDone

Some say that Xi was excited about the visit as he’s been looking for ways China and US can help each other. He’s facing some very real challenges inside his country and wants to find ways of doing business, but not everyone around him is very happy about his total and complete power and want to sabotage him where they can (in other words, he didn’t even know about the balloon). You may as well be suggesting you empty a swimming pool with a macaroni noodle. That balloon was huge and shooting it with a BB gun wasn’t gonna cut it (pun intended) No, but it is frozen in the waters off the Alaskan coast and debris is being collected for analysis.

Probably because they'd already done it AT LEAST 5 times in the past without issue or even detection in most cases (i.e. the risk you describe as "colossal" was actually almost nonexistent) Fair and likely valid, but IMO peripheral to this particular situation under discussion here.
  25. Or we've considered it deeply and found it flawed, lacking, and contrary to our personal values.
