    Exams

How come there's no exam ethos this year !!! I feel left out !!! Probably because I'm the only one here at SF doing GCSEs. Anyway - I got my last 3 science modules tomorrow. Nothing to worry about. Pretty easy in fact. But its the starting of the first wave of exams. The second wave (the killer wave) is in June so I still have two weeks left to prepare for the big subjects (including my double science tests - which I'm hoping to scrape an AA - fingers crossed). Anyway - Good luck to all the people doing GCSEs and AS/A-levels this year.

The skin is actually cracked and wrinkled up now - but it seems to be working. Anyway - thanks for the heads up.
  3. Eyes are pretty much the most important sensory organs in my opinion. Without them you wouldn't really have access to the world. Then again - they also are inefficient for the stress of today's competitive society. They weren't really 'designed' to cope with the education which we have to go through these days. I mean - the reason we have eyes in the first place is to look for food (e.g. hunting) Not looking at some book hours on end trying to figure out . . . what to write next. I'm no biologist or anything but will the eyes ever adapt/evolve etc to cope with the stress we put on them by reading thick science books or spending too much time in front of the computer on internet forums??? I think this will take millions of years, right?

Ok - turns out - its a fungal infection. (Thats what I've been prescribed with anyway) I've been prescribed HC 1% again - along with some antifungal (Miconazole nitrate 2%). I tried to find out how this had happened. Lets just say the word 'quack' comes to mind. It kind of looks like a fungal infection so I'm not complaining. So the questrion is: what would cause these fungal skin outbursts on the face? I was told that it could be an allergen by a different doctor. I'll try googling it - I'll doubt I'll find precise information.
  5. I'm not really the right person to advise you but I think YOU already know what you want to do. It seems to me you're a physics/computers man. I would take 3/4 courses (any more and it'll probably will be too overwhelming). I don't know your ability so you might be able to handle more. As for the courses - take the calculus, physics, computer science. Again, maybe someone who takes APs will be able to help you to decide better. I just think the combination I have given compliments each other so its much easier to score top marks than say - taking varied courses like politics, chemistry, english etc. There is a strict math-heavy discipline in these courses which I'm 'assuming' you are fond of. Variation is good but personally, courses which compliment each other are the best to take. Anyway - best of luck with that.

There was no point in making another topic for this. Luckily I found this one to use. I've slightly overdosed on 1% hydrocortisone steroid cream. The area of infection is now mutated skin cells. I wouldn't say it looks ugly, but its noticable. I think its minor skin athropy. What do I do? (I know this is not the place fo medical advice) is there a natural remedy that will temporarily aid the recovery of the skin until I next see my doctor (e.g. some lubricant oil etc)
  7. Looks like a good movie. Never heard of it till now - though. That's probably the reason why nobody has discussed it. Nobody knows it exists !!! (Well I didn't anyway) Its fairly new as well

    de ja vu

It if was a person - it was you from another life . . . spooky
  9. 1) speed (m/s) = wavelength x frequency so . . . (3m) x (how many waves in 1 second - oh - you've work it out) 2) speed of sound (m/s) x 5 seconds = distance (m) Simple eh?
  10. 94% - it's that much? I personally think this is far too high (since in other subjects - you can get a A* for 80% - maths for example). In History and geography its even lower - 75% A*). In fact, other exam boards such as AQA offer the A* grade in Science at about 75%. Thats nearly 20% lower for the same grade. (The content of the two courses are very similar). I can see why its not really worth arguing and as the previous person said, worth shutting up to, but I believe I have a point. Anyway, the A doesn't seem that impossible.
  11. From what I've seen (the last three seconds of the trailer) I think what projects him is probably the shock of the impact (and that solely). Its a movie so its over exaggerated anyway. Maybe, since the impact was so close, along with the actual physical shockwave was the mental shock that confused him (he was running away and stumbled massively)
  12. Applies to people in UK who are doing Edexcel Double science Sorry to make a topic on this. I'm just confused at how much I need to achieve the grade I want. I would like a Grade A. So far from the coursework and modules, I have achieved about 43% (out of 50). I went to the website to see the grade boundaries. Useless website. It says I need 80/100 (UMS) for A grade and 90/100 for A*. I just find this riduculous because In order for someone to get an A* not only do they have to score 45/50 for the modules/coursework but also 90% in the final exam (324/360 marks !!!). What the f*** (I'm really mad) I can't believe after all this hard work of getting the highest possible mark in the modules and coursework - I have to score higher than I possibly could to break the A grade boundary LET ALONE - the A* (which is to put it as simply as . . .ITS FRIGGING IMPOSSIBLE. Could I be reading it wrong or is this one of those tough luck things in life which separate the super-brains from us substandard humans. Could somebody just comment???

    Perfect, I love it

funny lol that post deserves an award or something
  14. happy birthday to the biology expert. Also to 5614 for being helpful and knowing all he does. And the rest: HeXeN, Jonfraz, NE¯tenalP, bluegoblin (61), GemiNI (22), Runner (21), sonia (19)
  15. I don't think you can put a price on something like this. Chances are - it would cost a lot to manufacture also. Its wise to patent it before selling it to some big pharmaceutical. I think you earn commission or something like that. 50-100 million??? Maybe? Lets say it'll be definitely over 1 million.

YES - you've got it !!! You've cracked the problem !!! Don't wander Better to stay on track i.e. herme3
  17. OK - from my understanding its a simple thermal decomposition reaction ~ CuCO3(s) ---> CuO(s) + CO2(g) (malachite) (copper Oxide) (carbon dioxide) The equation is already balanced. To obtain the copper - the copper oxide has to be reduced (by carbon) Hope that helps
  18. Do you know what the products of that reaction are apart from copper.
  19. I shudder at the person who wrote that episode. It took inethical to a new level. The highlight would have to be the 'gay joke' from hugh laurie. I can't remember what it was exactly - but it was damn funny. Again, whoever wrote that episode *shudder*
