  1. Damn if it's not going to snow here again tonight. I moved here to get away from that crap..

  2. You know you’re getting old when just yesterday you got spam about dating girls in your mailbox and now it’s either toe fungus medication or viagra.

  3. I have a serious dilemma tonight, please help. Is the spider „incy wincy” or „itsy bitsy” ?

  5. I just find it very strange that we can measure relativity through atomic clocks and then people automatically assume that we'd age differently because of speed just because the clocks move differently when they speed. I just can't make that mental jump. It makes no sense to me that ageing must be dependent upon a clock, or that just because a clock slows under certain conditions that the ageing process would slow too.

  6. Hey, I can't seem to post anything new on the thread I started...I guess there's some posting restrictions on new members.

Anyhow, what is it about clock rate that would make people age differently? Couldn't aging be independent of clock rate? I'm sure there's no proof that age follows clock rate. A clock is just a measuring device.

So, just because relativity can be measured by a clock has little to do with aging, as far as I can tell.

  7. Does anybody know of a good transparent material to store lithium metal under? I need a sample for an element collection. I take apart coin cells for the dollop of lithium on them, and I want to store it so it doesn’t oxidize. I don’t want to waste another coil cell on testing, so could somebody please give some insight on the efficiency of the following materials? They work in theory, but I have not tested them in practice. Also, does anybody know of a good type of oil? And yes, I have tried petroleum jelly (Vaseline).

    -Glycerol

    -Types of mineral oil?

  8. Nancy is home, I got her settled in, the dogs are ecstatic, and I am very glad to have her home.  She is not allowed to move from one place to another without me hovering over her but she'll get used to it!

  9. A BBC Earth documentary called „Blue Planet II” - a breathtaking cinematic achievement in showing marine life.

  10. If you're a teacher, don't say "Good job girls" to the female class. One might identify as a boy and you'll be charged. Seriously. Happened.

  13. Isn't it nice to have an honest, educational discussion? I see so much trash on the science forums and had very negative responses at some other sites with people calling my work rubbish and work that I do not understand.

  14. Just noticed that both negative and positive rep given is shown now in a post.

  16. I'm looking to build a working "but small" model of my pelagic fish aquarium design. If anyone knows of a source of salvage cast acrylic tubing, I am looking for three pieces 24 or more inches long and at least 24" in diameter. 1/4 inch would be preferred but I can probably use as thin as 1/8. Thicker is not a problem, scratched, foggy, can be polished out with a little elbow grease and power tools both of which i have. Give me a heads up if you know of some, I have been looking locally and I can't find any so far. New the stuff is just astronomical in cost, at least to me.

  19. I have been using Photobucket to host my images, and they discontinued their free third party hosting, meaning most of my links are broken. I went to subscribe to the paid service to restore the links, and their iPad app is down while they convert to the latest IOS update. Elsewhere, I am using another photos host, and where modifications to old posts are allowed, I am slowly replacing the broken links if the thread is still active. On my closed threads here, the links will remain broken; sorry.

  20. i noticed you get desktop notifications, if you are not on the same tab as the forum, and a sound.

  21. I am changing the way my bike changes gear using my desktop pc - is there a possibility we have become a little silly in our uses of technology?

  24. Just drowned my analogue hearing aid in my coffee. Guess I'm going to have to move into the 21st century and live with my digital one which has been in its box for the last few years. I've been assured this is what things really sound like but it's so alien. Got no choice now but there's far too much information coming at me right now.

  25. College starts from tomorrow. Well its just an orientation, no classes. But on paper it starts from tomorrow. I'm excited as hell.
