  1. Hahah. I will be honest with you koti,(even though this might not be the best place to do it) I have been living in Poland since I'm 21. It's a known thing that guys include some lies about them when first meeting a girl just to impress them, convince them to see them again etc. But only in Poland have I had to lie about my interest in religion or lack of more accurately. I never referred to myself as an atheist or agnostic or whatever, like politics, I have no affiliation, and like politics I am not saying it's not important but just me personally - I don't care - but when some people hear that you are not interested in this subject in some parts of Poland, you might as well say that you are a serial killer, the reaction is the same. I have many cringe moments like "physics is evil because they worship dark energy " or that CERN has the statue of a demon right in front and people just wont wake up to the truth. I stood and listen to all of that with a straight face knowing that I would never change their mind so I was just like: "Yeah, crazy hehe". So yeah, I stand before you guilty of being a extreme compromiser and many other things. If your friend likes the girl, I say go ahead. They just have different interests. Many Christians are good at heart. Maybe better that people who don't believe in anything (that's just speculation on my part).
  2. Hello T. McGrath, beecee, I actually wrote to the main author of this paper, Todd A. Thompson telling him that we have some additional questions , and he took the time to answer the below question. (I edited the below question just not to seem to rude ) He wrote:
  3. Haha no worries, jokes aside I am interested in your thread and hope member with insight will contribute.
  4. I see this is a very important topic, seeing how you posted it 3 times.
  5. Okay dimreepr, I get it. No need to get irritated.
  6. Haha well I guess this did offend someone. By all means give more details. Let's discuss. I hope you are wrong too but that does sound like a very accurate description. This is the game thus far.
  7. Unless the plot of Doctor Strangelove comes true I think we are ok. But that is a discussion for a different topic You are the only one to give a straight answer in this thread. Aside from being shocking(no offence intended), it also shows that your posts are objective and that you can see things from even extreme perspectives. Side note: Maybe he will be too sick to run one more time. Who knows.
  8. +1. Thank you Ten oz, very clear and to the point answer. Don't disagree but not relevant to the topic.
  9. I only hope I will get a real answer and that I am not taken as an apologist for Trump. He is very aggressive and arrogant etc etc but I want to see if people can be objective too.
  10. I understand and there are several other threads on this. I am asking if there is something good for US. Not for him . I am asking about those rare cases here.
  11. I love reading the Politics sections and as a non-american It's very informative on the mentality, views and opinions of people from US. With all this aside I can't help but notice that I have not seen a single comment about Trump doing something right. It seems that absolutely all his actions are criticised and I raised this point before but to me it seems some of the criticism is ad hominem. So I would like to hear from some of the more experienced member from this section like Ten oz, iNow, MigL etc about some good policies, decisions, actions that the current POTUS has made. (I do not have any political inclination and they would be far from republican and I understand that overall he is detrimental to the US but I just wanted to hear your opinions on this.)

    Research

Okay....Lets say you have a DNA swab, what then? (I can't believe I am asking this) Do you have medical and research equipment? A medical team?

    Research

You should give more details haha but the question that comes to mind is how can you get blood if you don't go through skin? How will you make a heart if you are asking on a forum what hurts less? That does not inspire trust in your medical knowledge.
  14. What a heated exchange. I'm sweating like a dyslexic on a countdown. Can we stay on topic please, this thread was educational1 page before .
  15. If I'm bent to advertise my website or my youtube video, I will post it disregarding the rules but the admins will take action. Beecee's idea could be one day included in the rules.
  16. Yes, my point is that we can still use and are using Newtonian physics even though we have better models. True true, and I understand. It will be just impossible to enforce this potential "forum rule". Reminds me of how Marvel once owned the rights to the word "zombie". It was impossible to enforce this as the term became very popular so they just dropped it. The same how it is recently very popular to post zero theorem speculations.
  17. True, that's why I said "some phenomena" cannot be explained with classical physics. Blackbody Radiation The Photoelectric Effect The Hydrogen Atom https://physics.weber.edu/carroll/honors/failures.htm My point was that If you post your own model, you can't expect it to be able to predict something better then the incumbent model. It's just too much to ask. I doubt (and no offence here) that there were many (I'm sure there were some) contributions to the field of science that started off as a thread on this forum and were peer reviewed by the members before being officialy posted.
  18. Also it would help describing the system you came up with if it were accompanied by a mathematical model to show how the behaviour of the system was predicted. If you don't have a model for your theory it is probably just a waste of time. I am not sure that I fully agree with point [3]. For example relativity and QM are "better" at describing some phenomena than Newton's laws. I doubt anyone who has a model that is "able to explain and predict better then the incumbent model" would post it here for peer review.
  19. Bathtub filled with water (maybe colourful water if you don't care about your tub) and you pull the cork, zoom on the "vortex" kinda to show how all the "stuff" if pulled in. Or better yet, read this: https://www.scienceinschool.org/2013/issue27/blackholes
  20. Really interesting discovery. Article is easy to follow so please have a look. https://arxiv.org/pdf/1806.02751.pdf
  21. No comments. Just disappointment. You would sit at the table with Newton, Faraday, and Einstein and ask them which sandwich is their favourite and why. There was a chance to turn this thread into something from which me or you could learn...
  22. Nice one. Highlight of my day. Is no one checking speeches of state department spokespeople these days? A simple google search would show that D-day does not stand for Doughnut Day.
  23. Let's have a tryout period. The month of July for example where we come up with this system but just as a test. So points received during this trial month will dis-appear and everything will reset once the actual system is implemented. Just to see how people would react and how it would work.
  24. Ah apologies, I misunderstood. All points seem valid now . Once you have been proven "wrong" beyond a reasonable doubt, you should stop promoting the pet idea.
  25. I agree with you guys but this sort of talk discourages new members. I know it's better to have 10 members and have productive talks than 1 000 000 cranks but still. Some members appreciate criticism but if I would get 1 crackpot point I would be scared to post anymore because people wouldn't take me seriously. Also you have to think about vendettas. Imagine if I start giving you guys crackpot points as revenge. Or do only Admins give these points? Also what if I want to discuss something like String theory. There are are many grey areas in subjects like this. I know you guys are referring to the highest, purest, sweetest level of crack-pottery but it's hard to draw the line.
