  1. Which fish is that Moon? I am confused if you are calling the whale a fish or you are talking about Manta Rays, Sharks or elephantfish. (all of them have very high brain to body mass ratio)
  2. Thanks Strange! I love the conclusion after the entire chapter:
  3. Can you please provide some source for this? I am not contradicting, I just want to read further on this topic. Why couldn't there be another temporal dimension? (Of course this discussion is moving dangerously to the limits of physical evidence so please tread lightly ) I thought that "Most physical laws are already written in a dimension-free form."
  4. Not sure I understand. It is not a mathematical constant it's a physical one. But also my response is in relation tho this new Universe. If you invent a universe it can have any physical laws you desire . c could be slower and our observable universe would be much smaller. Biochemistry would also be affected of course. Basically everything.
  5. That "universe" would function very differently from ours. Even this slight change in c would have drastic effects on all particles. I mean if c was 1 mm/s faster/slower.
  6. Why DNA manipulation? Why not just cut the fore-arm and stick a whip in there. Army of darkness style. Also: what are you talking about? That's the most random question I ever heard. Did you imagine that there is a whip gene? And you get it into your bloodstream and become whip-man?
  7. Of course health is the most important thing here but I think what we don't realise is that Multinationals follow the path of least tax resistance. If your country doesn't have serious tax cuts in some sector then you will have no new businesses setting up camp there. The new game is, if you want a slice of Corporate money pie you have to be corrupt/dirty have some arrangements. Look at Ireland, so many multinationals use it's schemes and it's working great for Ireland as well. More well paid jobs, higher GDP. No one is even getting fined or fired for this stuff. So while I agree that the life of one person is invaluable, I pay attention to this new way of working as a close second. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Double_Irish_arrangement https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leprechaun_economics Over the 12–13 July 2016, the term "leprechaun economics" was quoted widely by the Irish and international media when discussing Ireland's revised 26.3% 2015 GDP growth rate.[24][25][26][27][28][27][29][30] "Leprechaun economics" become a label for the Irish 2015 GDP 26.3% growth rate, and used by a diverse range of sources.[31]
  8. I think you should also look into the "Pantent Box" special tax regime where companies pay little or no tax on intellectual property. I think this Patent Box practice is much more tax evasive in both revenue and degeneracy. It's always a pleasure to read your topics and apologies if high-jacking studiot but I found this concept similar.
  9. Haha funny but suspicious in the same time DrP. Or should I call you Dr. Peerless!?!
  10. I read a tasteless joke today https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2018/oct/12/donald-trump-2020-re-election-economy-courts-trade
  11. Maybe we shouldn't have a reputation option in the politics section. If we feel that someone is offensive we should just should report his/her post.
  12. As usual you raise a very valid point DrP and we have enjoyed reading and in cases where the person did not want to understand, giving negative marks to many flat earthers together on this forum. But this post refers to topics that are not so easily proven. Not the usual religious nut in the physics section. Should you give a negative point to someone who is just expressing a different opinion than your regarding a "case" or investigation that is not yet closed? As other members mentioned, I try to avoid giving a negative rep to someone I don't agree with as far as that person did not offend anyone and just expressed his point of view. I agree but it just feels like people get negative reps for sometimes expressing a idea that seems "republican". In this case I think it's rather unfair that people down-voted many of J.C.MacSwell's posts.
  13. Ah sorry, it wasn't meant to be suspense. I work in finance for Shell haha. I didn't mention it because I didn't want to be seen as the biggest hypocrite and a traitor to my people. (Shell has a program where you can buy shares from them at a discount.) To clarify polar bears and Shell were never on the best of terms:
  14. Thank you studiot,MigL, iNow. This thread is a bit old so to update you, I invested in a special program from the multinational company that I work for where they sell shares with a 15% discount to it's employees. It makes the company look better when more people buy shares and a 15% discount makes is almost impossible to loose money. (It's a big company. some big scandal should take place to get a loss.) The trick is that I have to keep these shares and the $$$ is frozen until February. Until then I am on standby and I keep buying shares. I will keep you updated then but please feel free to share your history or current ideas/plans. PS MigL, don't beat yourself too bad for the house that could have been. To quote Max Payne: There are no choices. Nothing but a straight line. The illusion comes afterwards, when you ask 'Why me?' and 'What if?' when you look back, see the branches, like a pruned bonsai tree, or a forked lightning. If you had done something differently, it wouldn't be you, it would be someone else looking back, asking a different set of questions.
  15. And where did you get this idea? I mean if you would have said "religion" maybe I would not bring it up but what makes you think Christianity "established laws"? The concept of "laws" was there far before Christianity. And what about let's say Japan, South Korea. Seem pretty evolved from many points of view. Would you say that they are not part of modern society because Christianity is as present there? Also I wanted to add that many see the Middle Ages (dark age especially) as a period of social regress dominated by religion. "Age of Faith" Personally I think Christianity overall did slightly more bad than good but that is just my opinion. Also what do you mean "for white man"? You know where Christianity comes from right? It ain't from Wisconsin, Vermont, Amsterdam or Oslo, I'll tell you that. I recommend you read more about ancient history and also stop using the phrase "white man". It's offensive.
  16. No, in real life the Misthios was shorter and the animus was purple.... Don't learn ancient history from games but it's a good gateway to history. Of course ancient Greece was all that and more but not in terms of game-play but in terms of the foundation of modern society and culture as we know it.... you know...stuff like that.
  17. Sure but as iNow mentioned a few posts above, just saving the money may not be the best idea: Also, I know this is not the goal but I just want to mention that no one or very few ever got rich by slowly saving money in their office job. It's the people who take some risks that fly or fall.
  18. Hello forum, I have to make a presentation about royalty payments, more specific regarding trademark royalties or intangibles but any will do. Of course I am doing this on my own but I hit a bit of a rut and wanted to ask if anyone has some inspiration or a helpful diagram/image or a nice explanation. I have seen most youtube videos and some presentations but they are done in a tangible focused manner. Any help is appreciated.
  19. The point is that suggesting that politics of the democrat nature was involved shouldn't result in 8 negative reps per post. People will make their own opinions after reading each member's posts. From my experience from the science section, (and this is all on me) I begin reading a post with 8 negative reps in a dismissive nature. Things are not so right or wrong here. This is a safe place as long as you are respectful and abide by the rules.
  20. Again, probably right but you are blatant "potential victim" defending so even though you might be right mistermack is not Kavanough. Let him express his opinion otherwise you will discuss with frightful sheep who will all agree with you. Sorry, I meant to express that I agree with you. It sounded accusing towards you, apologies.
  21. True, I am following this thread with interest and re-checked mistermack and NicholaiRen's posts just out of curiosity. Mistermack got more than 30 negative reps for expressing his opinion. No matter what that is, I don't think that's cool. I don't really care about rep points when I get 1-2 negs in a thread, I will still continue the discussion. But over 30? (In all honestly I also gave one at the beginning for a more abrasive comment but things took a rational turn after.) Can we save negs for people breaking the forum rules or who are actually doing something bad? Even though you are more than likely right we don't have definitive proof.
  22. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Interplanetary_contamination You really have to research every scenario. We might end up ruining a great opportunity by introducing the wrong microbes. I think there are too many unknowns in this field to just introduce some microbes and wait to see what happens. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planetary_protection
  23. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Finnegans_Wake Nice experimental style but does not belong in the science section.
  24. Not related to Astronomy. reported
  25. I understand but it sounds like questioning the therapist would make things a lot more clear. If there are indeed notes that you can timestamp somehow to 2012 then you have actual evidence of this story not being politically loaded. (I have serious doubts it is but it would clarify the situation) Thank you for clarifying that. I meant that it would be the main focus of therapy not just a random mention. I would also be curious of what the therapists advice was regarding this. Maybe she had a part in encouraging her to come forth to the public. Apologies Charon, I realise I am not bringing much to the table information-wise and I am confused at how this is being handled as (as many mentioned already) it is not a trial, it is an "interview". As an uneducated in US politics outsider looking in, I can say that I have never seen such haos and so many diverging agendas all into one case/trial/interview thing. I am not trying to be insensitive as both parties here are undergoing stress and pain but I find this the most interesting "incident" that happened in the last few years. I can only hope that there will be a clear end to this and we will know what actually happened.
