  1. When I was learning about the twin paradox I learned that in Bob's frame the space time diagram is represented by the diagram on the far right. In Alice's frame the diagrams are represented by the far left and middle diagrams. Doesn't this assume acceleration because there are 2 frames. How do I solve if there are no acceleration? https://imgur.com/a/mEaDPcP

I have been trying to the Bell's Spaceship Paradox but I am getting confused. Can someone simply explain the solution to the paradox according to special relativity? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bell's_spaceship_paradox This is what I think I understand but I am not sure. This could be wrong. The ships starts off the same speed 0v. Then the ships accelerate. Due to the Lorentz transform the ships distance gets longer. The rope also stretches. How does this lead to the rope breaking? In the ships frame I see the ship the same length. I just see a person running. How do I reconcile the 2 frames? Here is a good space-time diag…

The problem says: It takes 300,000 years for a certain radioactive substance to decay to 30% of its original amount. What is its half-life? The result is 173,000 years, but I don't see how it is obtained. I tried solving for x in f(x)=300,000e^(300,000×x)=0.3, which is approximately x=0.00004. Then I solved for x in f(x)=e^(-0.00004×x)=1/2, which is approximately x=173286. That's the closest I got to the actual result. What am I doing wrong? How do I obtain 173,000? Or maybe my answer is correct and 173,000 it's just an approximation? Thanks.

Lily's car has a fuel efficiency of 88 liters per 100100100 kilometers. What is the fuel efficiency of Lily's car in kilometers per liter? My initial reaction is to go (8 L/ 100 km) (?km/?L). The question marks just represent some variables in algebra. I just seem to drawing a blank what the numbers are. It is probably pretty obvious. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/algebra/x2f8bb11595b61c86:working-units/x2f8bb11595b61c86:rate-conversion/v/dimensional-analysis-units-algebraically I am using the link above to learn about dimensional analysis.

  9. The high school program I am in has a half a year long project my senior year (like science fair, and we present it our school science fair, but more rigorous). I am working to getting my project proposal approved by my teacher. My project is on time management when test taking. Overall, my teacher likes my proposal, but has one issue, which is the lack of any real incentive for the participants in my project to "try" on the test I would be giving them. My teacher didn't consider a self-assessment question at the end of a project to be rigorous enough. Any advice that would help me to propose something to address this.

I recently did a science experiment on apple oxidation for school and here are the results of the apples are they've been left out overnight: http://imgur.com/a/1BhXoKT So I have some questions, are the apples in lemon water doing the best? And how are the apples in milk doing better than vinegar as the milk shouldn't be affecting the rate of browning at all and the vinegar is slightly acidic? There also doesn't seem to be a difference between the apples in salt and lemon water and the apples without anything at all? Also, after some research about the brand of the apples, Pink Lady, I discovered they were high in acid so they were more resistant to browning, h…

Hello everyone, I am currently writing a chemistry assignment in English and wanted to know if what I have wrote is true. Text: The term plastic is a broad term for synthetic polymers that applies to a wide range of materials that is very energy efficient and doesn’t require time-consuming manual work to produce. Polymers are large molecules all created by the process of polymerization, which is a chemical bonding of large numbers of smaller molecules or repeating units of monomers connected by covalent chemical bonds.

  16. Really difficult questions and I cant get my head around them. I've tried multiple time however can't seem to get it right. Any help or answers would be most appreciated. Question 1 A sandstone reservoir is 50m thick and 100m wide, it has a porosity of 10% and a permeability of 5×10−13m2, a density of 2.3×103kgm3 and a specific heat of 1000Jkg⋅°C. The rock temperature is 90 °C. The fluid has a density of 965.3kgm3 and specific heat of 3.8204KJkg⋅° If my well spacing is 1000m, what is the amount of Heat in Place available if the injection temperature is 50 °C? Heat in place is given by HIP=Vres(Tprod−Tinj)×λ. Bulk heat capacity of water-rock is giv…

  18. Let's say I am in Alice's frame.Alice is located on earth. A planet called planet 2 is located 20.3 Light years away. Bob is on a ship that starts on earth and is travelling at a constant velocity .99c. Ignore the acceleration of the ship to get .99c Alice and Bob's ship's clock reads 0 when they reach earth. Bob travels to the planet 2. Alice observers the time it takes for Bob to reach planet 2 using Alice's clock. What is this elapsed time? Is the Lorentz transform only used during switching frames? Let me define switching frames. I may have a mistake in my definition. Please correct me if I am wrong. In this example I have 2 frames Alice and Bob. Alice is st…

What is the difference between the work done by a gas and the workflow that the same gas performs to exist? why does the variation in the internal energy of the equation dH = dQ + nRT not consider the work done by the gas to exist (working flow) but consumes only the heat transfer? In the question below, the author considers dU = Q. He performs the calculation of the work done by the gas, separated from the internal energy (with an equation dH = dU + nRT ). If you know that in systems with constant volume dU = Q, but the gas volume varies (From 6 moles to 12 moles of gas), this does not imply an internal energy variation equal to dU = w + q (As stated in the 1st law…
