I bought the Feynman Lectures on Physics on CD, volume 05 and 06. He describes things real nice, but I can't see the board. I could get by without the board, if I rewind a few times and do some logic. I'd say it was a good deal a 60 bucks, but I have one real head ache! The sound! My ears are still ringing! There is a constant humming and high screeching tones. They've cause little pings, which I describe a a flash headache. It's there then it's gone with the PING. I've listen for the last few days. I've went bed with my ears making that dumb humming sound and ringing and I've woke up with it! How can I justify this purchase if I can't even listen to it? …

Openscience seems to have vanished... the thread is gone, not in the search, the actual site doesn't work, etc. It doesn't even open, it just says "Cannot find the database server." Whatever happened to it? For those of you who don't know what it is, Openscience was a science wiki (based on Wikipedia) that blike made with the free MediaWiki software. It got to about 30 articles before it quit working.

All right: Post every myth you know here. I'd like to see how many people think they're true... *this should be hilarious to watch [*]If you drop a penny off the Empire State Building it could kill someone [*]If you drop a hammer in before falling into the water it will save you. [*]If you attach JATO rockets to your car it will go over 250 mph and lift off. [*]Goldfish have a memory of 3 seconds. [/list=1]

I know advancing in space is not easy but I do believe we are lagging abit and we should have built a single stage to orbit vehicle by now, making saftey the number 1 priority has cost nasa progress. I am not advocating recless space travel but they have taken it to far and they are more worried about failure then they are about sucsess, I am impressed with their unmanned projects mainly the Earth like planet finder space satalite, but I realy hope to see a working traveling starship in my lifetime. What is the definition of a starship? A ship that can travel the stars and carry more than 10 people? What do u all think this goal will mean and when do u think it will be if…

I have created a forum dedicated to programming of both calculators and computers. Currently it's just starting, so don't be too offended by the color scheme. I still need to straighten that out. Please join. If you do join, and I get plenty more members, I might just make some of you moderators. http://s8.invisionfree.com/ComputerGeek/index.php?

Hmmh. It's starting to get rather snowy around here, even though the first flakes came down just a few days ago. A few local snow records have been broken too (the best Finnish record is from Kilpisjärvi, 1997: 190cm of snow). I personally like snow, as long as it's not in the way (as I always cycle to school). What about you? How much snow there's usually in the place you live?

Our goal: to understand protein folding, protein aggregation, and related diseases What are proteins and why do they "fold"? Proteins are biology's workhorses -- its "nanomachines." Before proteins can carry out their biochemical function, they remarkably assemble themselves, or "fold." The process of protein folding, while critical and fundamental to virtually all of biology, remains a mystery. Moreover, perhaps not surprisingly, when proteins do not fold correctly (i.e. "misfold"), there can be serious effects, including many well known diseases, such as Alzheimer's, Mad Cow (BSE), CJD, ALS, Huntington's, and Parkinson's disease. What does Folding@Home do? Foldi…

It's a bit of a trivial thing to make a thread over, but does anyone here know of any good online revision or testing sites for subjects like physics, mathematics, and chemistry? Not necessarily ones with revision notes themselves, but ones with questions and/or quizzes would be helpful, and I'm sure some of the people here are into those sites and know of a few good ones that would take a while to Google. I ask because I'm doing some quick revision of previous work in preparation for university interviews, and it's been almost two years since I finished the A-Level so I'm a little rusty. I'm reading through textbooks from about 25 years ago, but they're so much mor…

Now I don't know anything about cloning. However the other day I was thinking, if they can clone an animal, that is a living thing composed of cells etc. etc. , then is it possible to clone food? Food is composed of cells and such and are living things. Now like I said, I don't know much about this subject and there might be an obvious answer I don't know about, but any answers would of most interest.
