Speculations Forum Rules

The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:

  1. Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
  2. Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
  3. Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.

The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

If we look at the equations of special relativity that only things that vary between references is mass, distance and time. While the laws of physics will be the same in all references. To put this in perspective, if one conducted physics experiments on a relativistic spaceship they would reach the same results as someone performing the same experiments on the earth. If after a hard days of experiments, one decided to trim their fingernails and exjected them from the spaceship, if these small protein fragments hit the earth, they would pack the punch of something from a supercollider. In spite of all the particles being so energetic within the spaceship, the three va…

Imagine an experiment: Get 20-or-so people in a room and ask them all to concentrate on what side a rolled dice will land on (ie: six). Roll the dice a couple of dozen times and record the frequency of the resulting number as they come up. Does the number 6 come up with an average of 1/6 times, or more than that...?

I once seen on Star Trek: TNG, actually just on Friday, where there is a reality where everything happens, let me explain what I mean. If I was going to get married today, there is a reality where I get married and one where I don't, or if I am supposed to get shot if I go to the bank today, one reality where I go to the bank and die and one where I don't. So basically there is a place where every choice happens, does anyone here believe this, or care to comment I should say?

http://www.rense.com/general10/chemtrailcrisis.htm It is no secret that America's military-industrial megalith is secretly altering earth's atmosphere in frightening ways. Huge numbers of aircraft are now kept aloft to create "clouds" with ultra-tiny, ionized metallic particles. HAARP-generated microwave pulses are continually used to heat and agitate the ionosphere. Synthetically-manufactured chem-clouds desiccate the air and very effectively block the sun. The principles of this grotesque aerosol project are spelled out in a number of U.S patents. In 1974, persons associated with National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) obtained patent US3813875 f…

  7. (Compare with http://www.online-literature.com/orwell/1984/1/ ) FALSITY IS TRUTH The postulate of constancy of the speed of light is false (A. Einstein, "Relativity", Chapter 22), but the theory of relativity is true. Carnot's premise (heat is an indestructible substance) is false, but its corollary (the second law of thermodynamics) is true. OBSCURITY IS POWER C. Truesdell: « Clausius' verbal statement of the second law makes no sense.... All that remains is a Mosaic prohibition ; a century of philosophers and journalists have acclaimed this commandement ; a century of mathematicians have shuddered and averted their eyes from the unclean...Seven times in …

We all know what the graviton orbital looks like in the third dimension, a swirling torus around the nucleus but in the fourth dimension you have to imagine that the earth is flattened into a zero-mass plate. Now it is very important that we realize stellar bodies have no mass in the fourth-D because of what I will explain later. There is an article in Wired magazine about semi-conductor pseudo-atom formation. The semi-conductor is shaped like the prongs of a fork all pointing into a central location spaced a few atoms apart. This allows the formation of a specific number of electrons to form together in a pseudo-atom without a nucleus. Now, with the absence of …

I would like to present a new model for the brain. If we look at evolution the highest animals have the most cerebral matter. This is the brain matter at the highest potential. This can be deduced from the branching structures of neurons. The fine branches imply higher curvature and therefore higher surface tension. This surface tension is indirectly related to their surface potential. The core of the brain at the top of the brain stem is much older in the evolutionary sense and represents brain matter at a lower potential. Between the brain's core another potential exist; with the body. For example, if andreniline is release into the body, the potential between the …

I would to present an analysis for comment. I figured out a way to plot the eight mathematical singularities of physics with just three variables. Here is the gist of the model. Normally when one talks in terms of special relativity one uses examples like a spaceship traveling near C where its mass, distance and time are all experiencing special relativity. Thinking about this, I began to look at the possibility maybe the three variables do not always change together in a linear relationship. What made me think this way was connected to trying to explain why common matter lasts so long compared to particle accelerator matter. One explanation was maybe common matter i…

This is a list based on Carl Sagan's The Demon-Haunted World: Science as a Candle in the Dark, his book about pseudoscience, how it's different from real science, and why it seems to be taking over. I think it's very good, and contains what Mr. Sagan calls his "baloney detection kit," which ought to be applied to all arguments, scientific or not. Looking it over, I found it fun to classify the various threads on these boards into categories of logical fallacy. Anyway, the following are suggested as tools for testing arguments and detecting fallacious or fraudulent arguments: * Wherever possible there must be independent confirmation of the facts * Encourage substant…

I'm not sure if this should go here, but it is just a specualtion and not a real theory. If antimatter is just normal matter moving backwards in time then at the big bang, or more accurately when matter formed, Particles and their Anti Partlicles would form with the matter partivcles moving forward in tiem and the Anti particle would be moving backwards in time. Any antimatter that did not immediately annihilat with matter would then have traveled back before any matter existed, and therefore would not be annihilated. This antimatter would continue backwards in time. But what would happen after it got to time 0 (the big bang)? Could this antimatter form a reverse …

So this has probably been figured out, but being a lowley 7th grader, I do not have access to that. I do not know the math to be able to show how gravity would fit in with the EM, strong, and weak forces, but at least this would show how gravity would act upon a black hole; Gravitational Force=Mass x Radius When object 1 has a greater Gravitational Force (GF), than object 2, object 1 will pull object 2 into orbit, when it is acting over a vacuum. With something like the sun and the solar system, the sun's GF would only have to be greater than each of the planets to pull them into orbit. When there are 3 objects, and object 1 has a bigger mass than objects …

  16. I have a kind of hypothesis, of sorts. But there was something I just need to clarify. Does an object travelling at exactly half the speed of light, get contracted to exactly half of it's "rest" volume - thus exactly doubling it's "rest" mass? What about at 25% of light speed, and again at 75% of light speed? If this is not the case, is there any kind of reference chart to show the progression between an object at rest and the resulting volume/density (with regard to this rest mass) as it approaches the speed of light, where (at least in the way I'm working my hypothesis) would make it a two dimensional volumeless and essentially an object of "infinte mass"? …

This is an article I am working on for a Middle-earth science web page that I've always wanted to do. If anyone has any ideas or suggestion for more articles or how to improve on this one, go for it. Ultimately this web sight is just for fun and my own interest in trying to apply what is known about science and the paranormal and find a harmony to the the realm of Arda which is definitly woven in to it’s tapestry. That’s the beauty of Middle-Earth is it not? The harmony of story, even the parts that contradict or appear to be enigmas…

  21. Albert Einstein, "Relativity", Chapter 7: "There is hardly a simpler law in physics than that according to which light is propagated in empty space. Every child at school knows, or believes he knows, that this propagation takes place in straight lines with a velocity c=300000 km/s." Chapter 22: "...the law of the constancy of the velocity of light in vacuo, which constitutes one of the two fundamental assumptions in the special theory of relativity and to which we have already frequently referred, cannot claim any unlimited validity. A curvature of rays of light can only take place when the velocity of propagation of light VARIES WITH POSITION." The rational world…

I've heard several people say that they believe there used to be humans on Venus, millions of years before they were on Earth. Scientists have said that Venus was once very similar to Earth, and probably had oxygen and oceans. I found an article that talks about some of this here: http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/venus_life_040826.html Some scientists say that ancient humans lived on Venus that were more technologically advanced than us. However, pollution and possibly a nuclear war has left Venus in its current state. Does this sound possible?

Russian molecular biologists (Drs Gariaev & Poponin) have found that the chromosome acts as a solitonic/holographic computer and that it is a superconductor at body temperature. German writers (Fosar & Bludorf) have written a book entitled Vernetzte Intelligenz where they argue that at the DNA level there is a hypercommunication of information amongst all sentient beings. This networked intelligence can account for all paranormal phenomena such as OBEs, mentaltelepathy, deja vu, crop circles and UFO experiences. Essentially the networked intelligence creates a collective unconscious that unifies all life. This is what the Hindus have been arguing all …

I just found this very interesting article. Does cold fusion and fission really occur everyday in living organisms? http://www.bio.net/hypermail/MOLECULAR-MODELLING/1997-October/001009.html A number of chemists report that plants, animals and human beings ROUTINELY TRANSMUTE MID-RANGE ELEMENTS (for example, potassium into calcium or magnesium into calcium) AS PART OF THEIR ORDINARY DAILY METABOLISM. These transmutations obey rules such as: Mg + O => Ca; K + H => Ca. This is revolutionary since, according to current physical theory, the energy levels required for such transmutations are billions of times higher than what is available in biological…
