Speculations
Pseudoscientific or speculatory threads belong here.
The Speculations forum is provided for those who like to hypothesize new ideas in science. To enrich our discussions above the level of Wild Ass Guesswork (WAG) and give as much meaning as possible to such speculations, we do have some special rules to follow:
- Speculations must be backed up by evidence or some sort of proof. If your speculation is untestable, or you don't give us evidence (or a prediction that is testable), your thread will be moved to the Trash Can. If you expect any scientific input, you need to provide a case that science can measure.
- Be civil. As wrong as someone might be, there is no reason to insult them, and there's no reason to get angry if someone points out the flaws in your theory, either.
- Keep it in the Speculations forum. Don't try to use your pet theory to answer questions in the mainstream science forums, and don't hijack other threads to advertise your new theory.
The movement of a thread into (or out of) Speculations is ultimately at the discretion of moderators, and will be determined on a case by case basis.

This is a just-for-fun thread. What would happen if all neurons in your brain started firing all at once and at their maximum capacity? This, of course, probably can't be answered scientifically, so feel free to speculate (and be creative). Example: You'd suddenly achieve enlightenment and have an omniscient understanding of the universe... and you'd have telekinesis.

Okay, what part of this sentence: ...is the most difficult to comprehend? I'd love to expand that into a layman-oriented description of how consciousness works, but, it's hard. I guess some potential questions would be: What's a temporospatial classifier? What's a global workspace? I don't get the hierarchy bit! Where does your comprehension of the statement break down?

A theory of everything, and a mathematical formulation of a philosophy: Geometric Generalization of the Structure of Nature is reviewed and extended. The updated version of this elegant theory is presented on its new website: http://www.unitytheory.info The new website now includes an Introduction – Quick Overview page. The list of readers’ comments and other similar theories are also added. I would appreciate your comments on this paper. Regards, M. Erk Durgun

I have gone back to basics and interpretated particle experiments with a strict application of the Law of Economy to show that one elementary particle and force are all that is required to explain all the particle data found to date and that the selective rejection and averaging used by the Particle Data Group is not necessary. http://elasticity2.tripod.com/

It has proven extremely difficult for anyone to comprehend how anything can be certain but having a certain beginning and restricted to moving on only when the next step is certain does provide a solution that can then be used to compare with anything in mainstream science that is obtained theoretically and observationally. Science has a multi choice section regarding how the universe came about but the clean alternative that space was always constant everywhere at all times, although more valid, does not gain the same amount of research. While theory almost ignores there being space as we know it before big bang then any solution using space as a certain beginn…

MY theory of everything: Such prooven theories such as general relitivety and string theory BOTH have very valid points, and are most likely quite true. However, although there is no way to proove it, My own theory is that life itself may have existed BEFORE the big bang. It is my opinion (completely unvalidated) that beofre OUR universe (as we know it) expanded, it may have existed in an entirerly differnt state, governed by an entirerly different set of rules and universal laws. It is a posibilty that life may have then existed in this state, in another form from what we know it. However the point of this article is not whether or not life existed beofre the big ban…

TIME EXPLAINED Time is very simple, once you get it. But “getting it” is very very difficult. That’s because your current of time is so deeply ingrained. You think of time as a length: Q: How long will it take to get to London? A: What do you mean long? We form a mental map of the world using our senses and our brains. But the map is not the territory. We use time to think, but we’ve grown so accustomed to thinking the way we do, that we don't think about time any more. We don't see time for what it is. But let’s start with something easier. Let’s start with colour. Follow the link below to conduct an experiment: http://www.echalk.co.uk/amusement…

My website: http://gustofhotair.blogspot.com/ sets out to prove that in Australia, number and magnitude of cyclones are not related to global warming, Australia’s current drought has nothing to do with global warming, and shortly on my webpage I will prove that Australia’s temperatures have in fact not increased at all in the last 20-150 years. This is by analyzing data as provided by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology. Cheers Jonathan Lowe

Hey guys - first post and certainly not last. I recently read The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene and I was thinking about the relationship he was discussing about the 2 methods of measuring radius (high energy vs low energy) and how a radius of R would have equal meaning to a radius of 1/R. I started wondering if when the universe reaches a radius of 1.616e34 meters (the inverse of Planck length) might that be the moment a big bang for the next universe occur? (I wanted to look into it more but I was having trouble finding the numbers on the radius of the current universe. The numbers I found were of the visible universe and centered around us. Is there a …

Can anyone provide a translation of what this new age stuff is actually talking about? This is the beginning, one of many trigger events to come between now and 2013. An ultraviolet (UV) pulse beam radiating from higher dimensions in universe-2 will cross paths with the Earth on this day. Earth will remain approximately within this UV beam for 17 hours of your time. This beam resonates with the heart chakra, it is radiant flourescent in nature, blue/magenta in colour. Although it resonates in this frequency band, it is above the colour frequency spectrum of your universe-1 which you, Earth articulate in. However due to the nature of your soul and soul groups op…

I was wondering on a concept thats probably been discussed before but I can't find it the search. Is it possible to make material (on the scale of average day material) similiar to particle bombardment (Not exactly but...). If you have the control, and the technology, could you fuse and condense matter of a specific element to a specific point and allow it to grow from that point? And even more advance procedures that would allow you to make the perfect structure? And lastly could you yield enough material to even make it worth while?

Hello Just to drive the phyisists here crazy, and the fun of running a mental exercises, thought I'd try to think of a way to go beyond the speed of light. No not challenging Einstein here, nor is this the results of complex experiments carried out. Just a fun trying to force myself to think outside the box. That said how about this. Requires to unproved or tested ideas. 1) Mattered excellerated to the speed of light converts to energy at a point slightly before the speed of light. 2) The speed of light is the speed of time. Part one: required to overcome the inertia problem caused by mass. If mass is converted into energy than it can trav…

Hi to everyone, This is my first post here, previously my views have been expressed on the closed BBC forums. I am more than happy to use speculation rather than theoretical threads which just as easily complicate simple logical ideas that deal with the very foundation of all speculation. Science cannot obtain any information prior to big bang, it cannot state that there was "no before" except for the theories that are mainstream. How that relates to no one else working through the problem in other ways I have no idea. It is speculation to consider that what came before big bang does not matter and that is very convenient for theory. S…

I am writing a paper on a scientific theory. For those of you who have not kept up with the other thread related to it, it is a theory of aboluste relativity. The theory defines relativity with absolute space. This sound much stranger than it really is, however it follows the laws of physics and observable data as you will see in the paper. I have not written a paper before and I do not know exactly how to go about it. I would prefer to, in repsect of einstein and the vast use of his work, to follow his style of the paper. The paper I am going to submit to the science community at large. Hopefully a journal would take it? The theory is absolute…

I have achieved the first part of a paper in which my ideas of polarization of the vacuum lead to a new understanding of General Relativity. It is not yet sufficiently finished to post at my URL but people may e-mail me for PDF.

Interesting thread. And here i come with my theory of the "radiant" future. I decided to post it here and not make a new thread, because it's just an idea. I'm obsessed with the idea that the future "radiates" and acts like a magnet. It either pulls or pushes events. But i'm stuck. I don't know where to go from there.

I've always thought of the soul as an electrical signature. With death comes the termination of electrical activity in our bodies. What I've been trying to figure out then, is what would happen to your electrical self, if that is true. Would it be that without an organic interface into this temporal existence that we would no longer be traveling through time? And neither through space? Could we all then exist with other "souls" in the same reference frame, regardless of when we died? Or would we just blend in with the rest of electromagnetic energy? combined with others as a collective? Or something else...?

Well the title of the thread is rather misleading, but I feel like churning out some pseudotwoddle just because A. I hanv't churned out any pseudotwoddle for a while and B. I feel like it. I'm going to use an example from a book by David Bohm (Wholeness and the Implicate Order), where he uses Aristolean logic and then extends on the idea by combining two attributes i.e thought [math]T[/math] and no thought [math]NT[/math]. I will then erroneously tie it with the consistent histories theory, which to be perfectly honest I don't really understand, but I've got a hunch of what it entails. So thought, doesn't require any explanation, No thought would be anything outsi…

The theory of Stephen J.Gold of the pointed equilibrium, Darwin’s theory of the natural selection and finally Jung’s sincronicity, all have a sole common denominator: the extreme mathematical improbability of acasual events which characterize them. Human intelligence does not completely follow the entropy principle, it actually constantly evolves towards a state of higher order; obviously I do not refer to the intelligence of each single human being and thus to the brief useful time span (which can be exploited with difficulty) as defined by his life, which has no way of increasing itself, but I refer to the intelligence of the entire human species. At this point, it …
