I was wondering if anybody has downloaded it yet? It's supposed to be more secure, and I was wondering if it actually is. http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-bzhimo294950965oct29,0,7979396.story According to this article, they made some format changes from IE6 that seems pretty pointless to me, just changing things for the sake of changing things, not becasue they were necesarily good changes.

When I first register for a new domain, my registrar will direct the domain to a page of advertisements until I load my own web site. These ads are for various web sites, and the page will sometimes have adult ads. This has never bothered me before because I always upload my web sites before telling anyone to visit them. However, I was recently reviewing my web stats for one of my web sites, and I noticed most of the visitors were finding my web site by searching for pornography. It appears that a search engine bot visited my domain when the page of advertisements was still there. How will this affect my web site’s rankings on the search engines? Do I have to worry …

I saw something (on Digg? I don't remember) about "Torpark," but I forgot about it. Later I looked it up, and I downloaded it. I'm using it right now, it routes your traffic through servers randomly (tor or onion servers or something like that) and it makes your browsing difficult or immpossible to trace. I was wondering who exactly it hides your browsing from. I don't particularly care what people can see from here, from the comptuer, but what can your ISP see? I mean I like the idea of the ISP not knowing what I'm doing, but is that all it does? Is there a similar torrent client (sounds kinda stupid and slow, but is it possible ) ?

This didn't do any damage to his ipod but when he connected the ipod to his frieds pc, his friends pc caught the virus. He sent a couple data entries to his samsung cell phone and the phone was also infected. the virus only does damage to the pc's and no devices such as ipod or cellphone but the cellphone and ipod still carry them and transfer the virus to other pc's is there such a virus? how do you remove it?

  7. Two kings in far away lands need to get messages from one to the other about where they are planning to invade next and what to buy thier respective wives for Christmas, they can't have these messages intercepted because that would comprimise thier plans to take over the world together, or something. Messages may be transimitted as marks on paper, delivered by a messenger on horse, the messenger can remember a couple of sentances but probably wont recall the exact words and wont be impervious to torture. There are no electronic computers but both kingdoms have perfectly intelligent people with bits of paper, abacuses, decks of cards, some random books et cetera et cet…

Well, here's something you probably haven't seen around here for awhile: a real computer science thread. I'm working on a client/server streaming file transfer system which provides [math]O(log(n))[/math] scalability for n clients transferring a given file, as opposed to [math]O(n)[/math] for typical file transfer systems. It does this by leveraging all clients grabbing a file in a combined peer-to-peer network which offloads the file transfer process onto the peer network. It's called DistribuStream, and you can read about it here: http://pdtp.org/

Somebody at work said that she can't get a game to load on her computer. She told me that other programs load fine, but this particular game won't. She said that the game is less than a year old, and her computer meets all the requirements. She tried going to My Computer and she got the following error message when trying to access the CD-ROM: She thought that the CD was bad, so she went to the store and bought another one. She said the new CD also has the same problem. She also tried using both CD-ROM drives on her computer but neither one will work with this game. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm looking for good, cheap (or free) software for graphing functions, at a minimum roughly on par with the capabilities of a TI-83 or something. Any suggestions? Oh, and please don't say "write your own." My programming skills are limited to messing around with BASIC.

I'm having trouble graphing vertical lines using Maple Classic. So far I've defined a function and its derivative, and have graphed both. Next I found where f` is equal to zero and I have two points resulting from that. I have to graph vertical lines at these points. I looked through my book and all over google and I can't find one reference to plotting a vertical line, can anyone help please?...

My USB drives don't recognize the devises I plug in, even though I have installed the drivers over and over again for the devises. Is it possible that the USB drivers are damaged or corrupted? Can anyone tell me where I can get any help please. For a more in depth diagnosis the printer can scan images to the computer, but the computer can't print. That's when my suspicions about the drives emerged. I then installed a bluetooth wireless adapter that pluges into the USB and it won't be recognized. Wasup wit dem. Thanks.

I own several web sites, but I have to create and update all the pages manually. For example, if someone signs up for a service using a form, their information will be sent to my e-mail address. I will then have to manually create their login page and enter their information. I know that many web sites are automated. For example, someone is automatically a member of SFN when they sign up. An administrator doesn't have to worry about manually entering the information of each user. I would like my web sites to be the same way. I would like to create a database where new data can be added from forms, and also new web pages be created for members. They should also …

I am securing the wireless networks at the offices of the company that I work for. I wanted to use WPA, but some of their older wireless cards aren't compatible with it. They want to use WEP, but I heard that it is very easy to decrypt. They don't want me to spend a lot of extra time working to upgrade all the wireless cards so that we can use WPA security on the networks. Do you believe there are any benefits to taking the time to setup WEP? I've heard people say that using WEP is as secure as using no encryption at all.

Wasn't sure whether to stick this in politics or not, but seems better here. I'm not aware of 'E-voting' machines in the UK, as far as I know we have poll stations, or postal voting...which obviously could be tampered with, but probably not to the extent as hacking into E-votes, please see the article below... http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14825465/ I'm not sure if there's much to discuss here or not, but found it quite interesting, and a little worrying.

I'm a tiny bit desperate on this one... I am trying to debug a small piece of code I've written. I have a procedure for solving some quite complex equations. For single points in space. I have a procedure that: has some quantities passed to it, brings in a 2 by 80 Does a for loop for each of the rows in the data, to take the first col value, and puts that along with the vars passed to it into the first procedure. It then works out the difference between the value given by the first procedure and the second col. Squares this and adds it to the total. I'd like to use the NPLSolve minimize function to minimise this total squared sum of differences, b…

Guys, I have a netgear router which has been working fine for the last 8 months and all of a sudden, the landline went dead. We called in the engineer and he disconnected the router and the lines are back to normal. I don’t understand why the lines are going dead when I connect the router. I first though it was the micro filter but I have tried it with a new filter and it’s the same problem. Can anyone help?

I'm learning python; would it be ok to paste up a python script that i wrote, and have it critisised? If not, then i'll find a dedicated python forum, but id rather have people that i at least vaguely know critisise it, and i'd rather have an idea about how skilled the commenter is. the code is for a text-based menu system, where you can define your own menus. its a few small functions and one class. the whole thing is ~200 lines long. i'd mainly like critisism on: my comments (how useful they are) the use of the class/OOPage overall structure and modus operandi. how well the good/flexible the menu system is is of secondary inportance (it's not too g…
