  4. Here is some progress on the Major/Minor Data Protocol that I am developing to make a two-way Outernet access which, once completed, will be implemented into a package which I will be releasing for people to use to make access points. Here is a diagram. The algorithm is similar to LinkedList algorithms, but with some different aspects: Essentially, what will happen is the program will search for any connection to another similar device(most likely through different types of checks). Once it finds random devices, it will record their pings, store the information both about the device and connection name. It will compare the pings of each device, and store it so o…

So I am not used to the language word macros are written in but I wanted to make a macro to set up the page in a particular way. Here is what I have so far. Which works fine at the moment probably not minimal code but I am not trying to learn the whole language today. What I wanted to do was to add a page number as well starting from zero at the selected pages. I did manage to figure out how to add a word number which applied to the whole document but not the selected section Sub references() ' ' Macro3 Macro ' ' Selection.Sort ExcludeHeader:=False, FieldNumber:="Paragraphs", _ SortFieldType:=wdSortFieldAlphanumeric, SortOrder:=wdSortOrderDescending, _ …

I am looking at creating a new product to offer my school and other schools in the area. The basic idea is a desk that will have a screen on it. The screen will be able to run Microsoft Word and other programs that i would like to make, such as a program that will allow you to send your teacher your homework right from your desk. But what i want to know is how should i code this, and any ideas for the screen material? It needs to be thick so that kids wont break it but it should be cheap and durable. Thanks, Attikus

Hello I'm teaching assistant at one university in Bosnia and Herzegovina (department for computer science) and I have recently been chosen to be an assistant at "Introduction to computer algorithms" subject. First few classes are based on mathematical background (induction, recursion, algorithm complexity and so on) and I need to find (or make) some examples and tasks for students from this field and to let them work on it during the lab classes, so I'm looking for literature (english) and examples from this field of science, but as much as possible focused on programming and computer science side. Not regular math examples about induction, but something that could be…

Emotiv coming out with games and stuff they have the newest EGG headset out. I contacted them about using it with security such as instead of using a image, 4 pin number, or password, using brainwaves to unlock with a key, and it can only open by recognition of that particular persons brainwaves, so no one else could possibly break in. They replied not yet. So that gives me hope.

Let $s6 be the base address of an array A and $t0 contains some value. When you add: add $t0, $s6, $t0 Does register $s6 refer to a value or an address? More importantly, what does $t0 contain? Does $t0 contain a value or an address? How does the computer know whether the register refers to values or addresses? If it is a value, then how is it possible to do this afterward: lw $s0, 0($t0) How can a register have a set of offset addresses? Does the address of A carry over to $t0? If so where are they stored, because obviously $t0 is used to store the data. I thought offsets only applied to arrays. So does $s6 and $t0 both refer to an address and a value? …

My books says that when a computer tries to subtract a large binary number form a small binary number, the computer attempts to borrow from leading 0s, and the result is a string of leading 1s. Why is this the case, especially when the smaller number don't have leading 1s to accommodate the subtraction? So how can the result be leading 1s as if the smaller number was bigger? What is happening in the hardware that forces the computer to create a string of leading 1s?

  13. Hi. I have a small sequence of 4 elements that i need to apply the median of three partitioning quick sort algorithm I know how to do it with long sequences but here is my problem. the sequence is { 7, 17, 15, 19} the pivot is 15 what the i and what the j is? I am so confused. with many elements is easy to do the quick sort and the method of median of three but what about this case? can i and j be 15 at the same time? so confused.

  14. I am currently in the process of coding a program that will analyze stock data from approximately 800 stocks to make estimated predictions of the profitability and timeframe of the profit, for my personal use. My current setup involves an excel macro to download the data, then pulling it into scilab for analysis. With the amount of data involved, I can only put so much into the excel file before it overloads scilab's ability to read it, and so I have had to split the excel macros into 20 different files, with each having to be activated and saved individually. This is obviously less than ideal, although still better than manual analysis of each stock. My question is, is t…

Okay, two questions. Can a C++ executable output the binary of a value? Why are all C++ objects at least 8 bits? Even bool, a binary true/false variable, usually occupies 8 bits (1 byte).

Hello everyone, this is kinda my first post here. I usually post on reddit, but I wanted to check out the community here. Sorry for getting straight to the point. I am a third year computer science student. I have been reading a lot of computer science stuff lately and I have a couple or questions. If you have the time and want to answer, I would be very grateful. Here we go: 1) Why are nearly all hard disk storage devices (used in PCs) I have seen classified as IDE or SATA drives (From what I heard IDE is not used nearly as much today). Are they the best around, if so why? I have read some stuff on wikipedia but I don't understand a bit of the technical vocabulary used …

Hi, I am a final year Computer Science student who is just about to finish the first semester of the fourth year. To be honest, I admit that I haven't been a good student during my studies since I wasn't deeply involved with subjects and just did enough to get average grades. However, I have theoretical, some practical knowledge and I am good at Databases. I am aware of all, therefore I would like make a big change and do well this time. Throughout my studies, I have touched various programming languages in which I mostly have a starting level. Now, I have a final year project to complete which is to be an Android project and also second semester subjects will keep me…
