So I found these 2 flat rectangular disks that are about the size of my thumb. They both say, "memory stick by sony", on them, and one of them also say "magicgate". They look like they can fit inside a computer, but I don't know where

I'm soon to be graduating with my computer science degree and wanted to ask some people who work in the field of development a question, particularly if you are employer for a larger corporation. Before I started my education I was in the armed forces where I was charged, but not convicted of larceny as the charges were dismissed via a form of discharge I accepted. It has been 12 years since that happened and I have not had any negative legal matters since, along with a good credit/work history. However, were a business to require a fingerprint background check, they would see the charges. Are positions that are open in insurance, banking, non-profit organizations goi…

I suppose I'm still somewhat new to computer science as I've only just started grasping at a deeper and more fundamental understanding of the principals behind the relationships between various parts of a computer on the software and hardware levels. Here's what kills me though, I want to eventually start using my technology to at least make a little bit of money to get by, but EVERY time I look into the requirements of a money making opportunity there are at least six items on the list I've never even heard of before. I have to imagine that if I'm going through it now almost everybody has had to deal with it at some point. From personal experience, how did you h…

The games of checkers and chess now have computer champions. The game of Go, played in Asia, is still not quite under the mastery of computers. How long will this be the case ?

Hi guys. I encountered this scenario online and I couldn't decipher what to do to make it work. I hope you could help me out.. So say for example you have a kiosk on your store and you want to program it for your customers. When a customer press number 1, he/she would be prompted to enter the product brand, model, price, and other specifics so that the system can store it and afterwards process it for the customer. However, not until the customer types in "-none", the system would continue asking him/her about the product. Also, there's a certain menu for the seller (the store) to look up the customer's entry by brand, price etc. My question is, how should I tac…

I'm starting to learn python for post grad. However, I am having trouble utilising it. I can run code in the terminal via text wrangler. This works fine however, if I try and run it by itself it comes up with NameError: name raw_input("Enter name: ") I then downloaded IDLE and python launcher from python.org. However, it gives the same error message. It seems that I can only run by code through the terminal (I'm on mac). I am also at a loss on how to compile programs. I have no idea how to use python launcher and I can't find any tutorials. Can anyone point me in the right direction for guidance? Many thanks

I'm unsure of what the name for the method I'm looking for is, making it difficult to search for. There is a method of assigning multiple options a number code, and the end user can add together the number codes of their desired choices, and then inputs the result, which is unique for every potential option combination. What I'm wondering is, would someone please tell me what the name of this method is? And maybe how to generate such codes, or a better option. I'm working on a game mod that currently requires text-parsing for option setting, and I need to enable around 12 options in the limited entry space, preferably with greatest user ease. Thanks.

I'm just starting out with web development. I've got Minecraft and Overviewer running on a home server and I'm thinking of expanding it, and honestly just playing around. Which is better: PHP or Ruby? I've done the PHP module on codeAcademy and i'm about a third of the way through the Ruby module. I think, at this point, I prefer Ruby. Is one "better", or is it more or less personal preference?

Afternoon everyone, I am currently an IB Student in Prince George's County, Maryland. As a part of our I.B. Diploma requirement, we are required to complete the Extended Essay. The Extended Essay is a 4,000 word essay that involves us coming up with a research question in any area of focus that we choose. Now, I want to get into Computer Programming once and if I get into college. With that, I decided to do an essay in the area of Computer Science, specifically in Computer Programming/Coding. I came up with the research question: To what extent has efficient computer coding/programming played a role in the development of realistic games? (i.e. physics implementation in th…

Now, before anything else, i apologise if this should be in the speculatory threads area, it is my first post, but i reckon its more suitable here. Recently a rise to what I could only really call 'physical keys' has dawned, such as texts to help verify a login or account creation. Now, I had a slight idea when I was thinking about this, and it links to this magic part in your computer called the 'ROM'. The ROM, for those of you who don't know, in very simple terms, tells your computer, what it is. So, what all its parts are and so on. So it can, well, do stuff! Ok, now this is different on each different PC setup, and when it turns off, (which it will only ever do…

So, the hypothetical here is let's say you have a physical computer that has the possibility of emulating the exact way that the physical computer works digitally. Considering that possibility, let's say that virtual computer can emulate another virtual machine. The question is if you were only given the data about the schematics of the physical machine and it's sequences of states within the circuitry, would you be able to tell that there is a virtual computer within a computer?

That's irrelevant to discussion (whether HTTP is compressed or not), and even not correct. Apache owns 39.25% according to surveys. http://news.netcraft.com/archives/2015/05/19/may-2015-web-server-survey.html

Here i want to discuss about Linear Voronoi game. The game consists of two players, and a finite set of users placed along a line. Each player has 2m facilities, where m>0 is a fixed integer. The game starts by the first player, placing 2 facilities on the line, followed by which the second player places 2 facilities, and this continues for multiple rounds. Assuming that each user is served by a facility closest to it, the payoff of each player is defined as the number of users served by the facilities of that player. The goal of each player is to maximize his payoff. I try to find an optimal strategies for last move of both players to find their best placements in…

Hello everyone Let me get to the point: When I connect my PS3 with an ethernet cable to the internet, it works (only when configurating, it gives every now and then a problem; like it says occasionally (only when configuring): connect cable, or something like that; as if there isn't a cable connected). When connected, little or no problems occur. If I'm to connect my laptop to the internet via a UTP-cable (U/UTP CAT6a), in the network section, it pops up for about half a second, saying "identifying", and thereafter quickly "Cable not connected", and then it disappears, to show up again after a few seconds. It is maybe interesting to know that I get a stable c…

Hey Guys: For my research project, I would need a python code that will enable me to extract specific lines from a textfile. The textfile has the following format: fixedStep chrom=chr3 start=56424 step=1 0.000 0.001 0.001 0.002 0.003 0.004 0.005 0.006 0.007 0.007 fixedStep chrom=chr3 start=56425 step=1 Etc.... In fact, I would like to obtain an other textfile without the numerical lines, in the following format: fixedStep chrom=chr3 start=56424 step=1 fixedStep chrom=chr3 start=56425 step=1 Etc.... Looking forward to hearing from you soon, Best, JEFF O.
