Look at this site: http://totl.net/HonourSystem/ Is this a joke, or is the web site owner crazy? I don't want to find out what will happen if I press the button... Is it actually possible to put a script on a web site that could delete all of the files?

Does anybody know of an online application that would allow me to connect to my AOL Instant Messenger account? I would like an application that could allow me to communicate on AIM without downloading the software. You simply go to a web site, and type in your AIM username and password. After that, the AIM user interface loads in the actual web site, and not an application on your computer. Does this exist yet?

The ZoneAlarm firewall keeps a log file at C:/Windows/Internet Logs/tvDebug.log and this file becomes larger every day. Whenever the log file reaches 20 megabytes, it is placed into a zip folder and a new log file is created. Many people have asked what exactly is being logged, but all the creators of ZoneAlarm will say is that they are debug files. Whenever anyone e-mails the ZoneAlarm technical support, they ask that you attach all of the tvDebug files to your e-mail. I would like to know what exactly is in these files. When I open the file in Notepad, all I see is this: If I printed an entire tvDebug file in text format, it would print thousands of pag…

I finally found a web browser that I like better than Internet Explorer. I created it! It is called TetraSurf and it works very well with all the web sites I have tested with it. It can be downloaded for free from http://www.tetrasurf.com but you will need to install a free update from Microsoft. I have the Microsoft update on the same page as the TetraSurf download. If you download TetraSurf, please let me know what you think about it.

  8. Ok, I'll give a little background. At my lab we have 2 computers, and a lab with about half a dozen. All of them run Win XP Pro, and have the thingy where you must log in as a particular user to get on, as a security measure. However, several of these machines have an extra user "mashie" as a log-in, and we have no idea who it is, how it got there, if it's being used and what it's being used for. Maybe one of my lab-mates made it for some silly reason and just won't own up, or maybe the janitorial staff did and they're surfing for porn. Either way, we'd like to know. So the question is, how do I (with ad admin account) get into "mashie", and can I find out thi…

I have been receiving strange e-mails recently. The messages say: For the past few days, I've been getting several of these messages each day. It started happening after a worm called Winexec.exe downloaded itself into my system. However, I completely deleted it with Microsoft AntiSpyware. I also ran a check with Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition. I can't find any traces of the worm in my computer. Even if the worm was still in my computer, it shouldn't be able to send e-mail to other people. I use ZoneAlarm Pro, which should block any outgoing e-mail that is from a worm. Therefore, I don't think these messages are coming from the worm. Does anyone…

I'm trying to achieve a better BBCode parser (for my wiki) using regex to do tables. At the moment, I have a table command and such, but it does not allow attributes like a real table. What I want is a simple preg function that allows the parser to detect a [table] tag and convert it directly to html, including any attributes inside it (all of the attributes are converted raw). The same goes for [row], [data], and [heading] commands, but those would simply be tweaked versions of the table tag. Anybody willing to help?

One of my friends has a PSP that he connects to the Internet with at my school. To be frank, he has no idea what the hell he’s doing. He calls it hacking, “the PSP can get onto any kind of network; it will hack anything” he’ll say “on some networks you have to try a couple times but the firewall will eventually break, no matter how powerful.” I hear all kinds of people talk about hacking or computers, like they’re proud to know an elementary level piece of information and then try to sound like they know what they’re talking about. The reason his PSP will connect to our network is because the router wont ask for a password to jump on. Anybody can connect to the ne…

[edit] Problem Solved [/edit] A while back I opened a new text document in notepad and saved a blank file as ".exe" (no prefix). I tried to open it and got a message saying it would not run, then when I tried to delete it it says: Cannot delete Desktop:\ It is being used by another person or program. Close any programs that might be using the file and try again. No matter what I do I cannot delete / rename / move this file, I wouldn't really mind if it was tucked away in my hard-drive somewhere but it is on the desktop and just adds to the unnecessary clutter. Any ideas?

Would it be a good job searching strategy to learn languages which are becoming obsolete ? Three big examples are RPG, ADA and PL/1 but there are still job offerings for these languages. Since fewer and fewer programmers are available in these languages, would it be a good idea to learn one of them (RPG is the simplest) and then apply for these jobs ? Do you really need at least 2 years hands on experience to apply to these jobs or could you fake your way through by just learning the theory ? I imagine a person who already knows other languages well like PERL and VB but there are too many programmers going for those jobs compared to RPG. Any ideas ?

A virus seems to have downloaded itself on my computer without displaying any security warnings or anything. I use a very powerful virus scanner, and this is the first time ever anything has gotten past it. A web site automatically downloaded two files on my computer. They are located at C:/_DelItH.bat and C:/winexec.exe and they tried to automatically run on my system. My firewall seems to have stopped the program, but the files are still there. They don't seem to be doing any harm, so I will leave them there so I can analyze them. Has anyone ever heard of these files before?
