Hello, Some people just don't listening. Everyone's encountered them. I usually get them on the phone--the customer service reps--and when they talk, they don't listen to me when I try to intervene with my own input. For example, I was on the phone the other day with a bank rep. I had transferred some funds from them to a different institution and was charged a $50 fee for doing so. The other institution I transfered money to was willing to compensate me for the $50 fee but wanted proof that the original institution charged it. The rep on the phone was explaining to me that they don't issue out statements indicating the fee but it is their policy to charge $50. While…

  2. Hello guys Recently saw a research that said that on any pH imbalance of the brain that it could lead to the development of Alzheimer's disease.. You could check it for yourself here url removed due to suspected malware, and rules against requiring members to go offsite to participate It looks unreal but scary.. Feels like the pH level in my brain could get destabilized any time soon I'm I the only one scared What do you guys have to say

  3. Started by Function,

Hello everyone During the last sleepless night, some thoughts crossed my mind, and I wanted to share them with you and ask your opinion/points of view regarding them. The idea would be that the human brain maps, registers, and saves every single location a human being has ever been, and that, should we have the means to do so, a "route" could be mapped for every human being, from the moment they were born, until the moment they died. Useless, of course, but I wondered whether this could be the case. After all, our vestibular systems start working quite early; as do our memory circuits. Could it be possible that, from the moment your vestibular system w…

  4. So I'm trying to understand how does pointing closes your hip and flexing opens. Or whether or not it is the truth and why. And also, hip sockets and hip joints are the same thing? Right? Sorry if that sounded ignorantly. trying to figure it out, or find out the difference. Thank you for any helpful info!

Something happened in my brain. 6'0", 126 lbs., a "black" fast for 8 days. Also, near total sleep deprivation maintained with tiny, infrequent doses of cannabis. Motivation: blah, blah, blah, and thus performed a "forbidden experiment" upon myself. The result was like a mental breakdown, rather than any sort of physical one. Not a breakdown as such, but gradual loss of reality with complete insanity near the end. Direct knowledge, subjective data was obtained about a most hideous and frightening state of mind. (must needs in first-person, narrative follows) Somehow, throughout the whole ordeal I remained the exact same "me" that I am right now and have alw…

  6. Value of the Sympathetic Nervous Reflexes. In the absence of the sympathetic reflexes, only 15 to 20 percent of the blood volume can be removed over a period of 30 minutes before a person dies; in contrast, a person can sustain a 30 to 40 percent loss of blood volume when the reflexes are intact. Therefore, the reflexes extend the amount of blood loss that can occur without causing death to about twice that which is possible in their absence. This is what Guyton says about it ... but i have difficulty understanding it ... Does it mean that with the nervous reflexes body can decrease the loss of blood in hemorrhage to 40 % and without it we poss…

  7. Hi. Firstly I should acknowledge that I'm clearly out of my depth on this forum as I am by no means a science sepecialist or professional. However, I have an inquisitive mind and for some time have been considering the issues of our acknowledged human senses against those that may not be currently recognised, or at least accepted. Whilst the 'sixth sense' of proximity or presence is often debated, I'm interested in other senses that our complex, yet conditioned brains may not 'be able' to identify. My (purely fantasist at this point) proposal, is that there could be other entities or beings sharing our space, which very few of us (me included) can see or acknowledge. I wo…

I am creating a computer generated image of human skeleton. Bone data is input into spreadsheet. Then spreadsheet outputs code to draw the bone. Spreadsheet used is LibreOffice Calc. Bone data is abundant on the Internet. I would like people to help enter the data. If you would like to help, please tell me where to send the spreadsheet. Size is 28kb. Also, please tell me if you know of similar projects. Maybe someone has already done this?

Visiting patients, seen several times that nurses pay no attention to bubbles flowing into intravenous fluid hose. Verbally spanked several occasions the nurses in charge, like they do not pay attention nor care about this. How dangerous is it ? I do not know if is because some fitting is not tight, or else. What happens with bubbles flowing into narrowing arteries ?

Can a higher blood pressure fight better a forming arterial clot pushing more blood trough the narrowing to keep tissues downstream alive ? Or, can 'healthy' low blood pressure contribute to death of downstream tissues because does not push enough blood trough a forming clot ?

  11. Hi, I wonder if the only difference between unsaturated fat (like in nuts for example) and saturated fat (like in cockies for example) is the amount of bonds in the fat regarding carbon molecules and hydrogen molecules and in that case, how can that matter?

Hi, I think triglycerides and glucose are very like each other when they are described. I wonder what's the big difference? Glucose is taking up by cells if energy is needed and so is triglycerides, so what differ?

Hi, I know that glucose is used to create ATP, now I wonder all different molecules needed to create ATP. I know that creatine enhances ATP production for example and I want to know in what way it does that. Is it making the quantity of other involved molecules to create ATP except glucose!

Hi, I know that when you eat carbohydrates it comes to the liver as glucose and if the body needs energy the liver sends it to the body parts, and if it doesn't need energy it will be stored as fat. What I wonder is, let's say you have low blood sugar and get some glucose into the liver, then it would give the body energy and then when the body don't need energy anymore it would store it as fat. Is there a limit of time on how long the liver will store the glucose in itself before either giving it to the other body parts or storing it as fat?

  19. Wanted to ask a question. Am I correct in assuming that there is a part in the brain that is responsible for the way we see our body and other people and feel about our sexuality? The way it seems to me is that certain conditions can affect this part, changing its wiring and thus the way we see these things.

  20. Hi, According my understanding, testosterone can make more protein from amino acids that could be made without them. I know that the muscles can't utilize all the protein that you eat. What I wonder is why steroids and testosterone helps building much bigger muscles and why it can do it so much faster when the muscles can't utilize all the protein you eat.

  21. Hi, I've heard that people with more fat on their body has easier to build muscle. Is that true and in that case, why is it like that?

  22. Hi, When the blood sugar goes low, you start to feel hungry and to raise it you eat Carbohydrates for example to get glucose into the bloodstream. What I wonder is why fat people feel hungry when the blood sugar is low because they already have alot of glucose stored in fat. Why doesn't the body use up this before asking for more glucose? Is it a way to get other nutrients into the body but not necessarily carbohydrates?

  24. Okay, everyone. Pretend we're clandestine chemists for a minute, granted unprecedented access to new technologies that enable to synthesize a plethora of novel substances (invented by yourself). For this brainstorm I would like you to pair imagination with theoretical science, to come up with a unique idea for a recreational drug that has never been created or conceptualized before. There are 4 rules to this exercise. 1. Give your recreational drug a common name, and invent a street name for it. 2. Assign it a unique characteristic, make it unique so that it does not resemble any existing recreational drug, to its 2. Tell us about the method…

  25. Hi, I know that when you stress your muscles they get small cracks in them that need to be fixed. I know that the protein filaments can increase in the muscle fibers which making them larger, or new muscle fibers can be created with stem cells (sattelite cells). What I wonder is what determines which of these 2 things happens.
