I came up with some bizarre suggestions on the subject of global warming, would like to share them here. I did some research on this subject and it appears to me the solution to global warming might be a simple equation. Apparantly Carbon dioxide, a prime global warming institute, when combined with carbonates, (a secondary compound) gives you Bicarbonates (a family friendly, organic, tree hugger of a compound.) So basically, build factories near the sea, dispose of carbon dioxide into the ocean (where carbonates the compound is found is bushels) and whoosh, the carbon dioxide enters the surface of the sea but gets no further. I'm familiar with the prediction that global warming is melting the polar ice caps and glaciers around the world causing the oceans to rise. But wouldn't global warming also cause the oceans to evaporate by a certain degree, thereby off setting the rise in ocean levels? When scientists make predictions about how much ocean levels will rise, do they take into account rates of evaporation?

Repeatedly see illustrations on how extensive the ice age was thousands of years ago, covering to about 45-50 0 lat.N and beyond. But never see the same depicted for southern latitudes. How was the equatorial climate and temperature then ? And the equatorial flora + fauna did adapt and evolved in such 'short' amount of time to now tropical temperatures ? Or was the temperature gradient such brutal from the icy edges to equator ?

Due to a question asked on another forum, I tried to look into the mechanism by which charge separation takes place in thunderclouds. To my surprise it seems we still don't know how it happens. Is climate a factor in soil formation? Is climate type an indication of soil type? Seoul and New York have the same type of soil - udepts (inceptisols). Both cities have the same average annual wind speed and atmospheric pressure (10km/h, 1017mbar). New York has an annual rainfall of 1334mm and 63% relative humidity. Seoul has 1487mm of precipitation and air humidity of 72%, 1487/72*63=1301. Almost the same annual rainfall.

Cooling lakes and reservoirs to reduce bacteria and algae blooms and maintain healthy fish stocks? Hi, I have posted this idea several times in the Guardian newspaper's environment and climate sections several times over the last six years. I'm proposing the cooling of reservoir and lake water sources powered by renewables to reduce algae blooms, bacteria, and to create healthy conditions for resident fish stocks. I envisage water pumps onshore or offshore to cool the water via cooling machines powered by solar, wind, and water mills, the water mills being placed at the tributaries to the lakes.

According to the UN panel, sea level rise was supposed to be about 6 inches per decade, but it seems a linear trend was suggested. However, if you look at past ice ages sea level rise could have been about 100 m, ofcourse it might be less if only a part of the artic and antartic zones are thawed, but could this be nonlinear? In other words, could sea level rise due to global warming be linear for the first degree or two and then accelerate?

The heat of the burning wood comes from solar energy. So trees store solar energy by removing it from environment. The absence of trees causes a greater dispersion of solar energy in the environment causing an increase in temperature(Global Warming regardless of CO2). All the wood mass we see is related to the solar energy stored by the trees for many years. So this site puts Canada past the USA as far as greenhouse gas emissions per capita go. Which strikes me as a tad counter-intuitive, as we're not quite as prone to car culture as Americans or to eating quite as much meat. But then I got to thinking about the notorious bitumen sands of the prairies, and how those are considered especially bad for the environment, even compared to the (as of Deepwater Horizon) infamous fossil fuel extraction methods of the USA. So I've been thinking a lot about how we can help fix and stop climate change and one thing came to mind... I remember watching a documentary about the history of earth from the start and hearing that a bacteria is what produced the air we breathed today and it is estimated that it contributes to 50-80% of that. After realizing this is a huge amount i was wondering... is it possible to genetically modify the Phytoplankton to be exact to produce more oxygen or do make them reproduce faster? if we can get them to produce faster... would this be able to stop global warming? I realized this a few years ago. This is my theory although I am 100% certain it is not a theory but fact however this is science and without hard evidence it is still theory. There are many theories about how this can occur and the most popular is the theory involving slight variations in earths orbit around the sun but this is just bad science and after you read this you will understand why. What are the fiur big figures please for a "weather beginner" on the Lidls radio controlled weather station. Right now, (London 1pm) The top left reads -34C , top right, 86%. These two are flashing.
